Manu Utd interested in Joe Allen along with West Ham and Stoke. Any truth to these rumours Eds?

Taffy Tel

{Ed002's Note - Swansea approached Liverpool in respect of taking Joe Allen on loan in January - it was rebuffed but they might well make an offer to buy him this summer. Celtic are interested but might be priced out of the market. I am not aware of any approaches by Manchester United, West Ham or Stoke at this time.}

1.) 16 Jul 2016 12:20:03
Why would Jose buy Allen? They have far better quality in the bench.

2.) 16 Jul 2016 12:52:56
Are Sevilla interested too ed?

{Ed002's Note - {Ed002's Note - Sevilla enquired after his availability whilst discussing Alberto - they could take it further if encouraged.}

3.) 16 Jul 2016 13:19:24
Are Sevilla still actively interested in Luis Alberto ed? Sorry for the random question.

{Ed002's Note - Yes, very much so.}

4.) 17 Jul 2016 07:31:31
Because the welch Xavi passes sideways got.

5.) 17 Jul 2016 07:35:00
Goodbye joe u will prosper passing sideways under jose.

6.) 17 Jul 2016 07:40:47
Hang on Jose passes backwards also.

7.) 18 Jul 2016 13:09:28
I thought reason he'd be looking to move is game time - which surely rules out any of the top half dozen clubs and suggests he'd be looking mid table and below for a move? Or do we just put much less value on his capabilities than others?

27 May 2016 16:09:36
Are Dortmand signing Guerreiro who we had interest in or is it another guy?

Taffy Tel

1.) 27 May 2016 23:28:38
Yeah it's the same one.

French Football News are reporting that Sakho is about to be cleared of any doping and could feature in the Euro's. Apparently what was in the fat burners was not on the list of banned substances.

Great news if true. Just a shame he had to miss our most important games of the season. I suppose it's justice for being a silly boy and taking fat burners.

Taffy Tel

1.) 28 May 2016 15:15:29
Read that his lawyer proved that the substance wasn't even on the banned list, again don't know the truth but hopefully.

2.) 28 May 2016 15:47:46
So if this is true then Uefa don't even know what is on their banned substance list? Shocker!

{Ed091's Note - whilst I will also be one kicking up a fuss that sakho missed an important run in to the league as well as a final, let's just remember the same paper said we had signed benzema. Let's wait for UEFA to inform us.

3.) 28 May 2016 16:25:47
UEFA have released a statement.

4.) 28 May 2016 16:28:10
The statement read: “The 30-day provisional suspension ends today. The chairman of the Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body decided not to extend it. The player would thus be free to play as from tomorrow. A decision on the case will be made within the next few days. ”.

5.) 28 May 2016 16:35:35
Have they Taffy? Link?

Who's the knob head that used his mates season ticket to go to the match tonight. Who drove from newport, South Wales and left half time as he had work at 8 in the morning in Cardiff as he was gutted about score.

Yep. Put me up there with Istanbul. How can one mam be so ashamed of himself but buzzing. I could cry. X.

We haven't won this match yet and could capitulate second half. I must say though the longer the squad works with Klopp the better as a team we seem to be. Hopefully we carry this momentum on for the rest of the season, but as for next season o have high hopes. I understand other teams haven't been at their best but surely we have to be confident of challenging on all fronts the way it's going .

I just hope that we win the Europa or qualify Top 4.

1.) 20 Mar 2016 15:42:27
You jinxed it Taffy.

Skrtel needs to get the hell out of this club. Got sent off in the U21's, gave away a penalty, and was involved in all 3 goals conceded.

2.) 20 Mar 2016 16:01:29
let that be a lesson to klopp. never play him again, soon as his back his pulling shirts again he should have a pen against him every game he plays for it.

3.) 20 Mar 2016 16:04:04
1st half klopps liverpool

2nd half - Rodgers liverpool

And this came from 1 substitute (Not inc ben/ hendo) as too late

Didn't think 1 person could do so much damage in 45 minutes.

4.) 20 Mar 2016 16:31:43
Was Lovren injured?

5.) 20 Mar 2016 16:41:01
Klopp was at complete fault in the second half. He saw the game drifting away from him near the touch line and did nothing. Absolute Naivety.

6.) 20 Mar 2016 16:44:38
@ Hem b.

I don't think so. Lovren struggled with Long's pace, was on a booking, and a lot of the people now hammering Klopp's tactical subs were giving him a right amount of stick in the Live Chat.

Careful what you wish for boys.

7.) 20 Mar 2016 16:52:14
This game was lost by Klopp definitely. He should man up and owned it.

8.) 20 Mar 2016 16:54:15
I'll rest the temptation to be too smart arsed and just ask a simple question:

If Benteke puts his chance to make it 3-1 in the net like he bloody well should have and it kills the game (which it probably would have) is Klopp still naive?

9.) 20 Mar 2016 17:06:23
If I could answer Something,
That's another assumption just like had Migs not saved the penalty it would have been 4-2 to Southdmpton. Liverpool at the point of time needed a body in the midfield to see out the game / Control the game. There was no need for another goal at all. 2-0 is a very good Scoreline away from home against a team who is sitting above you.
I was confident had we bought Henderson in, We would have still made chances to score for any other player.

10.) 20 Mar 2016 17:48:30
I agree, when DS was coming off it should've been for a midfielder to stop the supply to their front men, even Kolo to come on was an option, watching the 1st half we were all over them! Movement was impressive but Koeman won the battle with his change of formation and subs, Skertl? Tough week for him!

11.) 20 Mar 2016 18:25:19
DGeneration

Not necessarily. @ 0-2 to us, Migs saved the pen. Had that of gone in. The process of play wouldn't of continued the way it did and for every action there after would of been different. We would of had a centre pitch kick off and a completely different pattern of play would of emerged.
The same consequence if Benteke had of scored or if Joe Allen had buried his or had his allowed.
All completely different circumstances if one action is different to what has happened.

12.) 20 Mar 2016 19:16:46
Gazza

So where does that lead to? Are you trying to say we were destined to loose because we did not score that third goal? How did Southampton who were non existent in the first half suddenly outplayed us in the second?
We were sitting so deep that the whole second half was happening inside our 6 yard box. Someone was supposed to make a mistake and a goal was coming in. It was Skrtel today. Lovren did not look great either in the first half.

13.) 20 Mar 2016 20:46:20
You can make some of your own destiny. In terms of football the officials can play a major part. With the linesman flagging for offside we had a potentially winning or drawing score line taken from us. Again. Either one of Allens shots stood to be a goal. The whole game would of been completely different.

Not MOTD fever Eds, but what's your take on Andre Gray of Burnley. Everytime I've seen him play he looks dangerous and hungry. If we do not go for an experienced striker (international) then I'd be happy for Gray and as a replacement for Benteke. I think he'd compliment what we already have in Ings, Sturridge, Original and makes the runs Couts would love.

Taffy Tel

{Ed001's Note - he is ok, very quick, but nothing special. He is lower end Prem level for me, at the moment. I would like to watch a bit more of him to get an idea of his potential before I would dismiss him though. Before he signed for Burnley, he looked extremely average, but they seem to have a very good striker scout there, so I would want to look at him now they have picked him up. Personally I think we might be better off getting the scout though.}

1.) 09 Mar 2016 06:31:47
Agree with Ed001 and even if we sell a striker I think we still have enough with Ings, Origi, Firmino and Sturridge.

2.) 09 Mar 2016 06:31:47
Agree with Ed001 and even if we sell a striker I think we still have enough with Ings, Origi, Firmino and Sturridge.

3.) 09 Mar 2016 07:56:51
Benteke can leave without needing us to sign a replacement. The same goes for Lallana. We will sign a wide player and also have Markovic coming back from loan. Signing sub standard players was a mandate in the BR era, not Klopp's. We have some fine young players in our squad that need game time and u want us to consider some average 25 year old (who is hit and miss btw) from the championship? Classic example of why our squad is bloated with quantity and not quality.

4.) 09 Mar 2016 08:35:44
I kinda agree with Indian. I am not sure on Markovic mate, But a world class winger / wide attacker would give a whole new dimension to our game. Why do we need 4 strikers when it's clear Klopp doesn't play 2 up top?

5.) 09 Mar 2016 12:11:42
I'm sure a world class player in any position would add a whole new dimension to pretty much any team you care to mention.

6.) 09 Mar 2016 14:13:23
Just like Sanchez is doing at Arsenal. I saw Leroy Sane play once and boy, what a player he`s going to be.

7.) 09 Mar 2016 14:29:30
I think we should only look at strikers if we are able to sell 2 of the 4 we have right now. We play with only one up front so we really don't need 4 strikers and then we have firmino who can play there as well.

06 Mar 2016 15:34:07
6 points off fourth and 8 points off 3rd. Hell of a lot of football left to play.

It's squeaky bum time but we are serious contenders for top 4. I don't think we will get such a chance. No team are doing great or very consistent (apart from Leicester) .

We may not do it but as a fan all I want is a bit of hope and optimism. Let's go for this Reds.

Europa and top 4 here we come.

Taffy Tel

1.) 06 Mar 2016 19:52:28
We win our next two league games and we are indeed in the hunt for the top 4.

I'm not asking for prices, investment or companies who are interested. Honest opinion though would you like new owners?

We've always been told there is an exit plan with current owners. Would it be beneficial for them to sell from a fans point of view or would the new owners cut everything to the bone?

If they could potentially get him a deal would any China club pay us or would Milan buy him cheap and sell on straight away?

{Ed002's Note - Either way if it were to happen.}

Happy birthday EMS. Hope you have a great day.

Could one of the Eds pass my email on so EMS can let me have his girlfriends address. I'm quite prepared to take one for the Liverpool Banter team and watch her for the night while he enjoys himself at the pub. I mean that's what the Liverpool family are for. 😂😂.

Just to be clear Ed02.

You can have 17 players not homegrown in a squad 18-25 players. I recall Chelsea only using 20 players last year as they only had 3/ 4 homegrown players. If a squad wants to use the maximum 25 players they need to have 7/ 8 homegrown players I think. In effect a sliding scale where the bigger squad you use/ register the more homegrown players needed. Does that make sense what I'm trying to ask?

Taffy Tel

{Ed002's Note - That is not how the rules are written, they are much simpler. Maximum squad size = 25 over 21s. Maximum non-HG - 17.}

I assumed you had to have a squad of 25 players with at least 8/ 9 of them homegrown. On top of that as many U21's players any team wants regardless of nationality? Apologies if I've got that wrong. I assumed that was why City chased the likes of Delph and kept Richard Wright on the books.

Taffy Tel

{Ed002's Note - It works the other way around Tel. A club is limited to 17 players over 21 who are not homegrown. There is no requirement to have any homegrown players at all unless you have a squad of between 18 and 25 players over 21.}

To the OP. Now seems like the perfect time to sell the club. We have a new stand, new TV money, raised profile internationally despite losing 2 finals, a manager who is well like and looks on course to get us back to the top of the game. The lack of European football will be seen as a bonus for potential buyers as they can come in and be pretty much guaranteed some sort of European qualification over the course of the season. In a few weeks time the bloated squad will be trimmed, there will be less players, less debt (im assuming outgoings will repay some borrowed monies borrowed), the wage bill more manageable and lower and the wages to income ratio at its lowest for a while. Any potential owner would be coming in with a clean slate and the possibility to look like our saviour with minimal investment in players. They can then invest the additional money we could potentially get at the end of the year dependant on whether Europa or Champions league.

In short if I was the owner i would say this is the peak of their plan when the invested and anything else is downhill. All business people look for the point to sell their investment and I believe now is the time. The risks is hey keep hold of us and their investment drops due to poor performance etc.
