The only time I've heard of anything like this was when Fergie got a pay rise to stay ahead of Rooney's earnings, who was contractually due to to be the highest paid player in the club. Or something along those lines.

I read the story myself, it basically said they were on a 'collision corse' but it was in speech mark and had no quotes from either party. Basically just putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5.
VVD won't go to the euros without klopps blessing but in one way for us it's the equivalent of a pre season for him. He gets competitive games and he will only play if 100% fit so gets some game time under his belt.
But if he is rushed back just to play in it that is a whole different matter.

Who wished injury on a player? All I said was that fate seems to have caught up on him. That tackle on VVD was reckless, went unpunished by a dreadful referee and, we’re yet to find out, could turn out to be career limiting. To this day I’m not sure I’ve seen any contrition from Pickford (maybe I missed it) so no, I don’t wish him to get injured but now that he is then I’m hoping it impacts Everton’s season in the same way that ours has been affected.

We aren't exactly short of money troubles either. We definitely need to shift both Ox and Keita on to have the luxury of signing an expensive midfielder like Aouar.
Personally I'm OK with Fab, Hendo, Thiago and Jones being our first choice midfielders with Keita, Ox and Milner providing cover (if money is extremely tight) .
Whatever money the fringe and loan players (Grujic, Wilson, Ojo, Awoniyi, Shaq, Origi) generate will go towards signing a CB and another young attacker imo.

Personally i think losing Gini on a free is sad for the club. I can understand it, difference in contract length. wages etc but i think he's a hugely underrated player who gets through a tonne of work. People seem to be happy to lose 3 or 4 central midfielders this summer but i think that's hugely unrealistic. I can understand people wanting to move Keita/ Ox on but players would have to be replaced. that's without the shiny new centrehalf and forward people want. can't see klopp signing more than 3 senior players this summer.

We hardly have a great scouting department.
Not one of our recent youth buys has made the team and most of our first team buys have been 3rd or 4th choices.
We are getting better at transfers because we have been able to sell someplayers at ridiculous prices.

Scouting is pretty hard. City/ Chelsea are very good at it because they can just throw money constantly at as many youth players they want. Leicester seem to be one of the best. I actually think Arsenal are good at scouting young players, despite their inconsistent form.
United are pretty decent however a lot of people forget just how many youth players they have signed in the last 10 years who barely played a game for them. I don't think we have a bad department, it's just getting harder and harder to find youth players who can make the step up in England.
A lot of the young talent is being snapped up the German teams and integrated into the first team at a very early age.
Plus the Prem and English fans are very unforgiving, if youth player don't make an instant impact, everyone wants them gone.
Our scouting department isn't bad at all, we get class players these days, we just don't have the finances to buy all our targets like City and Chelsea.
Sadly most of the teams finances have been gutted and we are certainly one of them. Like the Eds have said, we need to sell to buy. If I was FSG currently, I'd be putting huge emphasis on looking for HG players and top youngsters from the championship.
This would help us stabilize finances and keep growing the squad. The other thing I'd do as Liverpool is actually develop a world class teaching/ development plan for the youngsters so if they don't make it at the highest level they have everything they need to thrive in another Career. Imagine having working in Physio/ business/ finance/ data at Liverpool on your CV, that would bring a lot of weight.
If I was a young lad and I had various offers and a team said look, even of you don't make it at the top level we have all this support to help you thrive, I'd be picking them every day of the week.
