Eds and posters please, does anyone know, if Luis Diaz attended Jota's funeral? The rumour says he was at a celebrity show back in Colombia and many fans are miffed at him for that. If true, I have lost respect for him and prefer he be sold ASAP. I mean, when he was traumatised by his father's kidnap, Jota scored and held his jersey up high in solidarity. I really don't want to believe he was absent at all.

I am pretty sure that is not true. He posted an emotional tribute to Jota, and it is said they were pretty close off the pitch too. He would be hurting significantly more than us.

2.) 06 Jul 2025 13:45:42
No he wasn’t either was mo or Ali or Ronaldo.

3.) 06 Jul 2025 13:55:29
Let’s be honest - if everyone had been able to attend the funeral, they almost certainly would have. The circumstances were difficult; the service was arranged very soon after the passing, and not everyone can change plans at such short notice. It’s unfair to judge or make assumptions without knowing the full story behind why some people weren’t there.

4.) 06 Jul 2025 14:03:27
Out of curiosity, why was the funeral held so soon? Is this a Portuguese tradition? Maybe some of the players couldn't make it in time.

5.) 06 Jul 2025 14:09:49
Adam yeah that’s how it is there normally within 48hrs after the death I looked it up because I thought that seemed very fast.

6.) 06 Jul 2025 14:40:18
@adam it is common tradition in the catholic religion to bury people within 48 hours of their passing

I was shocked at the speed of the funeral so I looked into why it would be.

Jota was apparently a very devoted catholic as are all of his family.

7.) 06 Jul 2025 14:41:08
Pictures and small news outlets reporting it, no proof but even if it is people deal with grief differently.

8.) 06 Jul 2025 14:52:30
Funerals can be a very traumatic experience for some people and they need to grieve in there own ways, not be forced fed how to do so.

I would suggest people stop reading tabloids, get outside for reflection and good walks, and begin to heal themselves.

9.) 06 Jul 2025 15:03:45
Hey mate, appreciate you’re only asking a question. But please let’s not use the tragedy of his death in this way to make assumptions about our others players.

I’m sure everyone that could be there, was there mate.

10.) 06 Jul 2025 16:14:29
Yeah, I’m a Roman Catholic and we do funerals fast. But in Ireland where I am from, Protestants also bury their lost ones in a few days. It’s normal. I always found it odd that they leave it so long in England, but evertwhere is different.

11.) 06 Jul 2025 17:03:35
Honestly if he was or wasn’t isn’t something anyone else should be having a say on, we all deal with grief differently. It’s crazy a celebrity can suffer with mental illness, which grief can lead to, but the media and social media wait for the worst just to post ‘RIP’ and stuff. Diaz knew jota better than any of us lot, let him grieve in his way. Tired of social media we need to curb it. Salah took daggers the other day as his post was ‘too slow’. Is young man’s just died tragically let people cope. I post nothing on social media nobody’s calling me out.

12.) 06 Jul 2025 17:19:48
Hey Ugbes. Stop, think and then post. Drivel.

13.) 06 Jul 2025 18:27:54
England is the only place that takes weeks.

14.) 06 Jul 2025 18:30:29
It's a Catholic thing. Same here in Ireland. 3 day wake.

I assumed the club were told not to bring too many players as the family felt overwhelmed. So a select few might have been 'picked. '

15.) 06 Jul 2025 20:03:56
As above, you could ask why Trent wasn’t there (NOT digging out TAA), obviously he was on RM duty, but compassionate reasons would have won through.

My point is this, as mentioned above, people would have wanted to be there, that for one reason or another couldn’t be, I expected a representation from LFC and Wolves etc, not host of players, kudos to those that could make the funeral.

I imagine as displayed on this site, millions were there in mind and spirit, RIP #20 Jota and Brother.

May the team do you proud as you watch down from the heavens.

16.) 07 Jul 2025 03:22:30
really?

at a time when we're hearing and enjoying tributes about about Jota off the pitch that none of us knew, we're going to make sweeping judgements on another player's character based on some random stuff read online?

{Ed001's Note - just to point out, England is not the only place it takes weeks. In the Philippines they have a vigil before the burial, which is usually a week, but can be as long as it takes for the family to raise the money to pay for it.}

17.) 07 Jul 2025 11:28:12
Can confirm. Have enjoyed the Philippines culture over the years, and though they are strict Catholics, they usually mourn/ celebrate the person's life, while trying to raise funds for the service/ burial. Philippines cemeteries ? WoW, you haven't seen anything like the ones in many city areas.

18.) 07 Jul 2025 13:05:07
Faith, Not sure why Diaz is being singled out here. Could it be cos he is linked with a love away and some fans have some beef about that hence, are willing to scapegoat him based on info from dodgy sources?

Oh look, CR7 did not attend the funeral either. I guess he must be a heartless twat, as well.

And btw, AB1 and Salah did not attend Jota's funeral either. I guess all 3 players are guilty of whatever laws some think they are guilty of, as well. Let people be and grieve in their own way, for heaven's sake. Pathetic!

19.) 07 Jul 2025 16:43:53
I said some terrible fans post on here a week ago.

Some people on here are trying to stir trouble about the funeral and the subsequent attendees.

I repeat, we have some terrible Liverpool fans post on here.

You should be ashamed of yourself for positing this garbage.

I heard of a rumour linking us to Porto's 22yr old LB in Rafa Soares. He hasn't even played a senior game for Porto only on loan to Rio Ave last season where he scored 3 goals and 7 assists. Is this some BS?

Ugbes

1.) 15 Jun 2017 11:22:32
The search continues.

2.) 15 Jun 2017 12:48:32
He'd be a great buy if we can get him.

3.) 16 Jun 2017 03:04:35
May be Lijnders know him when he is at porto?

05 Jun 2015 09:29:52
EDs is the report that James Milner joining LFC confirmed?

Ugbes

{Ed002's Note - Subject to a medical and the paperwork being processed he will join at the start of July.}

1.) 05 Jun 2015 10:50:41
It's even on their official website dude.

Ed01, should you be faced with the option of Guehi or Zabarnyi, who would you pick of the pair. I don't know a much about Zabarnyi tbh as I only wanted to see Huijsen everytime I saw Bournemouth. What's your opinion of him? Thanks mate.

Ugbes

{Ed001's Note - it is not really much of a question as Guehi I really don't rate at all. The more I see of him, the worse he looks. He is all over the place. I can't believe he is their club captain because he has no composure, no sign of on-pitch leadership from him at all. He would be an avoid for me.

Zabarnyi is a very decent Prem centre-back, who has been the solidity at the back that has allowed Huijsen to shine during the last season. He is a very good player, who certainly looks good enough to step up a level and it is no surprise PSG have targeted him.}

Been horrified since I saw what this excuse for a man did yesterday. The last I withnessed this was 2011, post UCL final when a Manc drove his volkwagen gulf into a pub full of celebrating Barcelona fans, drunk. He maimed 3, injured 4 and killed 1 in the incidence. Yesterday brought it all back to me again and I can't even remember it was a celebration anymore. There's no excuse for these act and I will be miffed, if this guy doesn't go away for a very very long time. He's a danger to society but thankfully, the Police update warms the heart. I pray for quick recuperation to all affected. YNWA.

I imagine after a prison sentence, he will not live in the Liverpool area again imo.

2.) 27 May 2025 20:00:04
Kew17, the guy will have a very LONG time to think about his actions and his life while in prison when those prison doors slam shut right after he walks in.

Match our valuation and he should sold be sold. He's been flirting with other clubs in the last year or so anyways. Perhaps, it will push our effort to gazump NF for Fofana.

@2Shoes, you're easily impressed don't you? I mean, the Wirtz family don't represent Isak so how did they come up with such rumour? Sounds weird to me sorry.

I don't believe £140,000k/ pw is anything like underpaid at least as per Paul Gorst, who've rubbishd the 55k that has been flying around. I will be happy to let Diaz go, if the crazy fee comes in. Just gazump NF like Chelsea did to Newcastle for Pedro and get Fofana already.

Kindly indulge me to my delusion guys. I love Klopp and I don't wish to know anything negative about him cos he's human and isn't perfect. We won't be here without that man. First, he conquered our doubts and made us believers and then helped us win everything in football, bar the Europa League. He's my hero, a true legend in actual meaning and I adore Arne Slot for sharing in this thought. Please guys, we are in the middle of a transfer window non of us dreamt of and all we want to do is to dig the past and mess with the legacy of a man, who helped us get here? Come on guys, focus! Upwards and forward! YNWA.

You don't rate Dom Rigsby? Well, it's all about opinion but that one is difficult for me to agree with cos when he's not in the team, it shows ?.

I think we can hit jackpot in Lucas Stassin at St Etienne. Recall when Walsh got N'golo Kante from Caen? I think that kid can be moulded into something deadly. Does anyone know, if we still hold interest in him?
