Hello Ed02, give us something to chew mate. Where do we go from here? We need a DM, LCB and a RW.
{Ed002's Note - Perhaps if Hughes had accepted the Marseilles bid for Endo it would be clearer - or even agreed to negotiate. There are other options Liverpool can move on to for DM. For CB, there is no doubt that van den Berg wants to complete a transfer away. It would help to add another CB to VVD, Konate, Quansah and Gomez - but again many of the options are no longer available, so a rethink is necessary. The club will look to Gordon again id Diaz can be sold.}

Why In the name of God so we want Gordon.
2.) 13 Aug 2024 09:51:06
Sounds really organised as ever.

Ed would franki de jong be an option in a player plus cash deal from Barca?
Seems to be some talk of such a transfer on social media….
{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has shown no interest in him.}

Obviously disappointed in Zubimendi's decision to stay.
We have no idea of what is happening behind the scenes but the optics of not having made any progress on the contracts of our 3 best players or the longstanding problem position at no6 is not good.
The gaslighting of the fans via the coordinated is also not helping a fanbase that has seen a living legend in Klopp leave and wants to be enthusiastic about the new era.
Finally, the chase for Anthony Gordon is just strange.
In June, I (half jokingly) wished for Yoro, Pacho, Ederson and Kudus this summer, with new contracts for Trent and Virgil and Mo either being sold or running his deal down. I don't think those would have been unreasonable objectives for Liverpool Football Club.
Given the way we have setup this preseason, Alan Varela has to be the next logical target for no6. I have no idea how bad the relationship is with the Andre Trindade camp, but again, he would be a good fit for Slot's build up play in a two.
Guimaraes and Wharton would cost a fortune, so we can rule that out.
Mr Hughes, you have work to do.

How will Newcastle be persuaded to sell when they did not do it while they were under the threat of PSR? If the club sell Diaz before landing Gordon, we will have a funny August for sure.

Hi Ed, you’ve seemed to be a little more ahead of those in the media and platforms like Twitter with you stating regarding Zubimendi early on it may be a tough deal to get done with convincing him to leave Spain and not hold out for the Barcelona move. A lot of those journalists usually briefed with the Liverpool news have said there won’t be a move for a midfielder now, do you know whether this is the case or would you expect the club to move onto one of the others scouted above? I notice on the cb situation you’ve mentioned that is a more pressing matter, has there been any changes or movement with any targets or have the club focused all their energy on the failed move for Zubimendi over the last weeks? Thanks again for all your knowledge and input on here!
{Ed002's Note - The problem Liverpool has right now is prioritising what they need to do. I would expect them still to look for an option at DM.}

I’m quite excited by the prospect of signing Gordon, Jack. He’s a Liverpudlian through and through, and showed last season what he’s capable of in a decent team. Bags of pace too. Maybe imagine his name is Gordonez if that helps. Obviously needs Diaz to leave though.
The one I’m concerned about is Rabiot. As others have mentioned, we’ve tried this type of move over and over and it doesn’t work. I’ve seen little from Rabiot to suggest we should be excited about his arrival on inflated wages.

Am I the only one who thinks we have dogeg a bullet with Zubimendi?
Dont get me wrong; the guy is a proper baller, press resistent and all, but in terms of physicality he doesn't improve us much on the middle of the park and we are talking about the most demanding league that there is. I rather would go with the gifted midfielders we have and get a stronger/ powerful destroyer at the 6 when becomes available
Just my two cents.

Don’t worry Kameron, Rabiot incoming, that’ll really help our midfield lol.

One for the banter page,
People who say slot doesn’t play with a DM rather two 6’s, well breaking news is that Klopp also played the same way when he first arrived, Can/ Hendo. It took him two years to realize that this doesn’t work in England and you need a world class destroyer.
1.) 13 Aug 2024 08:41:48
Or maybe it didn't work cos the only player he had who was good enough in that position was Henderson?
Can wasn't good enough and lacked positional discipline. Milner was good enough, but still lacked positional discipline and post knee injury Lucas lacked the mobility to get about the pitch.
Kevin Stewart played in 11 games. That's what our midfield options were like in 15/ 16.
2.) 13 Aug 2024 09:01:15
Breaking news from 2015?
3.) 13 Aug 2024 09:01:31
Harry, is that you? Because what you said is inherently incorrect. Klopp has almost always favoured a midfield three, not two in all his full seasons with us. The only time he played two DMs, I believe, was in his first season where he took over from Rodgers and played both Can and Lucas together. Other than that, it has always been three in midfield, with Can usually being seen the DM and deepest of the three. The other two CMs were a mix of Hendo, Wiji, Milner, and Lallana. And unlike Slot, Klopp didn't play with a CAM too. So, unless Slot decides to fundamentally change the way he sets his team, I don't see him suddenly deciding in the near future that he would like a pure DM.
Also, Rodri is not a destroyer too, but City have coped relatively well since the departure of Fernandinho who is one.

Nobody is upset of player rejecting us. This has happened in the past as well. It’s the manner and time. Why waste 2 two and half months! The kid was available all summer. One should do their homework well before. Hughes is showing his true Bournemouth level.
13 Aug 2024 08:13:33
Because of multiple reasons
1. Wasting well over 2.5 months
2. Should have done the homework well before. Edu has been chasing the kid for more than a year, what Jack arse does Hughes hold over Edu / Arsenal? If the kid wasn’t moving to London then he isn’t moving to any other part of England.
3. No alternatives to Zubemendi.
13 Aug 2024 07:27:23
I would go and get Ugarte. Available and willing to make a move. PSG has already signed a replacement. He is an excellent destroyer. Expensive but you got take it. Sometimes you need a Mascherano more than an Alonso.

Richard Hughes had one job to do for which he was hired. We used to mock Ed Woodward for the same.
13 Aug 2024 01:12:25
What a waste of a post. Please don’t put this on supporters. The club chased a number 6 meaning they need one there. They should have done this at least 3 months ago. Failed with bids and made the club look like a laughing stock for the second year running.
