Walkon79

1.) 03 Feb 2024 16:05:27
So sad after the week they have had as a family watching his son score his first goal get man of the match and two assists. Condolences RIP.

2.) 03 Feb 2024 16:14:56
That’s awful news.
Puts football into some sort of perspective.

3.) 03 Feb 2024 16:46:28
Rip

Strength to him and his family. Wheels of fate is real strange.

4.) 03 Feb 2024 17:08:04
YNWA Conor.

Not one for speculation and rumours, but apparently Alonso has been appointed.

Walkon79

1.) 29 Jan 2024 21:23:25
I hope so but I doubt that's true just yet.

{Ed002's Note - No he hasn’t. I don’t know why this BS is being posted.}

2.) 29 Jan 2024 23:12:01
Total BS!

3.) 30 Jan 2024 00:47:28
He can’t be “appointed”.
1) there is no vacancy until the end of the season so to appoint someone would probably be illegal.
2) He won’t want to leave BL before the end of the season.
3) Klopp is still the manager, to appoint someone now would totally undermine his position and derail the season.

I’m certain in my own mind the club has been attending to business. They will have had meaningful discussions with potential candidates and/ or their representatives. They will have a shortlist and a plan.

4.) 30 Jan 2024 01:06:23
Not one for speculation and rumours and BS, but apparently Alonso has NOT been appointed.

5.) 30 Jan 2024 01:18:10
Been appointed to what? Is it a little voice in your head telling you this by any chance?

29 Dec 2023 08:16:12
A rumour I've been hearing is that salah may be extending his contract? Then again maybe someone is pulling my leg.

Walkon79

1.) 29 Dec 2023 10:01:05
I'm not so sure if I want him to extend or not if I'm completely honest. Obviously he's been unbelievable over the years but if we can get 150 million for him then id sell him personally. It wouldn't surprise me if he doesn't want to go having seen bobby etc move there and play in front of 600 fans! It's a hard one but surely we can't turn that sort of money down.

2.) 29 Dec 2023 10:28:38
I’d have him sign in a heart beat
2 year extension and in 2 years we’d still get 150-200 mill off the Saudis if that league hasn’t fallen into the abyss ( doubt it with the World Cup being their that will help prop the interest up)

Reason I’d have him sign who is their to come in and replace him that can produce his numbers?

3.) 29 Dec 2023 13:44:26
Al-Ahli average attendance this season is 17184, not 600. That said, their ground holds 62354, so two-thirds empty, isn't very wholesome.

Al-Ettifaq (Gerrard; Henderson; Wijnaldum) is just as bad. Ground holds 35000 and average attendance is 7854, so 60% empty most of the time. It's a joke, that I'm sure won't bother those going there because of the salaries.

I bet executions get more attendees.

4.) 29 Dec 2023 15:52:29
The problem with the Saudi League is not support, it is that hardly anyone can afford to go. The opinion that every Saudi is mega rich is a myth. The gap between rich and poor there is a chasm.

5.) 29 Dec 2023 16:06:50
Firmino doesn't play in front of any fans as he is a bench warmer and is listed for sale by his club. And despite Salah not being at his best because of a toe injury that is finally getting better he is the best RW in the world apart from Mbappe, show me any other Right winger with 15 goals and 8 assists so far this season! So 100 million or whatever will not improve us in any shape or form when the likes of Højlund cost 80 million pounds.

6.) 29 Dec 2023 17:43:22
The thing with Salah is, he is always fit and ready to play, he scores goals or assists even when he plays awful. He is a leader of the group and I think he still got a good 2 years at the top. But I do understand that his age, the fee we coild get etc but there is no guarantees the new players would be half as good as him .

7.) 29 Dec 2023 19:14:52
@BakedBoy 17 isn’t a third of 62 mate.

02 Dec 2022 02:16:21
Liverpool have received a huge boost in their quest to sign Jude Bellingham after Borussia Dortmund's managing director Carsten Cramer admitted the Reds would be his 'preferred' destination should the England international leave the club. just a rumour, and I don't usually pay any heed to rumours, but I felt a slight movement when reading this one.

Walkon79

1.) 02 Dec 2022 05:36:29
Ok - my turn for the standard response - give the pessimists a bit of a lie-in this morning ……. There’s no way Jude is coming to Liverpool and anyway, he isn’t any good.

2.) 02 Dec 2022 07:22:13
If you "felt a slight movement" then maybe it's a good idea to not stray too far from a toilet for the next few hours?

3.) 02 Dec 2022 08:55:08
He also said he wouldn’t be giving us any presents so the price would he extortionately high.
(Or reassuringly expensive, for the Stella Artois drinkers out there) . Given our sell to buy/ hand to mouth model, who are we going to sell to fund this? As FSG aren’t going to.

4.) 02 Dec 2022 09:22:25
They'll pay it for him Victor, ticks every box and will be looked on as a bargain in a couple of years. They have got the club into a position where we can do a deal like this, enjoy it.

5.) 02 Dec 2022 09:45:03
I’d imagine Dortmund will negotiate with whoever meets their asking price. If we are one of those then we’ll be at the table. If we don’t meet the price then I can’t imagine Dortmund losing millions of pounds because they prefer us.

6.) 02 Dec 2022 09:50:21
JK23 we'll never get him if it comes straight down to money. Obviously we'll have to offer a huge sum too but we only get him if we are his preferred choice and he tells Dortmund that.

7.) 02 Dec 2022 09:56:11
The wages aren’t really an issue, due to a number of well paid players leaving. The transfer fee while very significant will prove to be tremendous value. FSG are not shy of spending big on the right player. If Klopp wants him, and the lad has a preference for LFC and then he goes to a rival club we would be bang in trouble. I think Bellingham will sign.

8.) 02 Dec 2022 10:12:00
Jude I meant we’d have to meet the asking price first. I’m not sure Dortmund would be willing to lose money just on Jude’s preference.

Obviously if we meet the asking price then Jude’s preference then comes into play regardless of if we can’t match others wages or signing on fees.

9.) 02 Dec 2022 11:04:50
We need Senegal to do us a favour and destroy us in the last 16. Cheeky January bid. signed. on the way to No 7. BOOM.

10.) 02 Dec 2022 11:24:03
Yeh but tbe next big english or any countrys hope mightn't be as quick to sign on at Dortmund if they see the likes of Bellingham being denied his dream move. They are a selling club and attracting the best kids is a huge part of their philosophy.

11.) 02 Dec 2022 11:34:10
Jude could be true. But if he goes to Real or City. It’s hardly not a dream move for him also.

12.) 02 Dec 2022 12:11:45
True, but there not us either are they?. Jurgen'll get it over the line, biggest draw in football.

13.) 02 Dec 2022 12:29:42
West Derby Wanderer, I feel like you're saying Jude 'isn't any good', in the worry he signs for a rival because there is no way you can watch that 19 year old kid and believe he's no good. Not worth £100m+ or not as good as the hype, ok its an opinion but 'isn't any good'? that's absolute nonsense mate.

{Ed001's Note - he was clearly joking.}

14.) 02 Dec 2022 12:29:49
Stopped reading after someone said he isn't very good ha, FSG need to hurry up and sort their S out.

15.) 02 Dec 2022 12:31:29
I hope so mate. Would be a great signing for us.

16.) 02 Dec 2022 12:38:53
Oh, was he Ed001. I haven't seen too many of his posts to sense it, apologies.

17.) 02 Dec 2022 12:54:39
We don’t sell to buy and then play with 11 players in the squad all season. This is something VVVV can’t get through his/ her/ their head.

18.) 02 Dec 2022 15:10:58
I think there was money there last summer for a midfielder but Klopp kept banging on that we didn’t need anyone. Then when he realised he was completely wrong he panicked and bought a player that had no chance to be a regular in the first team. Basically we just tipped £4m down the drain.

19.) 02 Dec 2022 15:37:03
That literally goes over your head Faith. It isn’t a one in one out policy, it is sell to buy, a completely different concept. Selling players to bring in new ones.

We literally operate on a hand to mouth/ sell to buy policy. We have done for years. It is now unsustainable as we’ve little in the way of valuable saleable assets who would be able to leave without making an immense impact on the starting 11. And with an ageing and ailing side it’s hard to see how the funds are going to be generated in our current model to carry out the much needed overhaul to the squad to challenge for the next decade, much less spunk a shed load of money that we don’t have on one vanity signing.

We sold Davies, Williams, Minamino and Mane for a total of just over £70m to fund the summer spending. So, the question remains, who are we selling to fund Bellingham? Even if we sell fringe players it wouldn’t raise enough to buy one of Bellingham’s legs.

Owners aren’t dipping in their pockets and there’s a dearth of benevolent multi billionaires around at the moment looking to buy us.

20.) 02 Dec 2022 18:59:44
@Gunn, I’d love him to sign for us - he’s already very good and, at 19, is nowhere near the finished product. Plus of course it would be genuinely brilliant to hear Anfield belting out ‘Hey Jude’.

21.) 02 Dec 2022 19:26:46
Selling to buy is the basic concept of FFP. The owners have put in money to the extent possible. If Jude does not join its because he prefers another club. Saying we can't afford him when you no idea of the financial situation in summer 2023 is made up nonsense. Should get out more.

22.) 02 Dec 2022 20:11:46
We know he prefers LFC it’s not in doubt. If he doesn’t sign this time it most definitely is the owners fault.

23.) 02 Dec 2022 20:13:23
No it goes over your head because our squad has been bloated for years now. As much as you like to hate all of our players, the end of the day is they are here and we can’t just keep adding to the squad wi hour moving others on. Even city don’t bhuold their squad your way.

24.) 02 Dec 2022 23:08:15
@Markp08 I think your opinions are incorrect with respect to the last transfer window and it being the owner’s fault if Bellingham doesn’t sign for Liverpool.

It seems Liverpool did have two midfielders that they were interested in - Tchouameni and Bellingham. It seems very likely that we agreed to meet Tchouameni’s (or his agent’s) terms for signing but the player himself wanted to go to Real Madrid as soon as they made contact.

Dortmund didn’t want to sell Bellingham in the window.

Saying Klopp “kept banging on about we didn’t need anyone” is naive in the extreme. Would you expect him to name his targets in a public discussion / forum? If he did do you not think it might have an effect n their price valuation placed on them by their clubs?

The loaning of Melo was forced on us by the injuries to about 4 or 5 midfielders towards the end of pre-season not because we didn’t sign either of the two targets. I’d also say that you are either a bit rash or perhaps clairvoyant with your assessment of The player as he has only played 12 minutes of football (minutely scrutinised they have been by the FIFA accredited coaches that frequent this site) and, as he is here for the season and with the ridiculous number of games coming up, he might yet prove to be a useful signing.

With respect to Bellingham, it seems the lad would like to play for Liverpool. In days gone by that might have been enough, and in some rare cases it still is (see Tchouameni and Real Madrid) . However these days, when push comes to shove, money talks and it wouldn’t be anybody’s fault at the club if someone came in with a record breaking offer to sign the lad. It’s also worth saying that, even though the lad might want to come to Liverpool, there is no guarantee that he might remain (or even be) our top target. Personally I think he is but it’s not something that I have any facts for - it’s just an opinion.

25.) 03 Dec 2022 01:04:16
The loaning of Melo was an appallingly bad decision forced because of a failure to find a suitable alternative to Tchouameni, which is ridiculous as there are multiple better and more robust midfielders than Arthur out there. As it is Arthur has played more than 12 minutes, as he was bullied by Rochdale. They say him for what me is, weak, slow and not up to playing English football. Personally I would send him back to Juve asap.

26.) 03 Dec 2022 07:33:27
Seems like it’s just going to be my day to disagree with people.

@VVVV, your opinion seems to me to be incorrect too. Tchouameni signed for Real Madrid fairly early in the window and as it was obvious that Dortmund were holding onto Jude (I think the rumour was that when asked if he was available they said ‘ Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah not Jude), Norbert made it clear that his plan was to go with what we had.

As we went through the pre-season we lost a number of midfielders to injury, Naby with his heart issue, Ox with the regulation Hammy, Hendo, Thiago and Jones with a variety of injuries and Fabs form was way off the pace. We signed Arthur as an emergency signing to provide cover when he got his fitness up to scratch. His loan signing was a stop gap to get us through to the World Cup break.

Of course he got injured too and he hasn’t as yet played a PL game which makes it quite interesting that you say he is not up to the standard of the PL.

Anyway, I have a sneaking feeling that he might prove useful before the end of the season. Of course, it is just my opinion and - like your’s - is pure speculation as neither of us know how he is rated by the manager and the coaching staff, who are the ones who (90% of the time) thankfully seem to come up with the correct answer. Just saying.

27.) 03 Dec 2022 07:35:52
Is it that Inconceivable by the fans that we never just bought for the sake of buying to make sure we had enough pennies for our top target (Bellingham)

Ibb be think the saying goes

Short term pain
Long term gain

It will be seen as a master stroke drone the footballing world if we pull it off and if not
We will have maybe shot our self in the foot . But I think the list of alternatives the club has means it wouldn’t be the end of the world but ultimately very disappointing . Let’s enjoy this season and see where we can finish and then let’s see what the summer brings.

28.) 03 Dec 2022 09:39:34
Dhfc, I agree, the summer was a strange window in some ways, due to the BS WC, usually the window comes after the WC has ended.

What is the point of buying a C Mid if it’s not the type/ caliber we need or want at that time,

I must say tho, there must/ appears immense confidence in JB joining us, I do wonder if there’s a possibility of it happening in January. alas time will tell with that.

29.) 04 Dec 2022 00:21:20
I honestly believe Bellingham is lined up and Michael Edwards sorted it before he left. A parting gift you could say.
Bellingham and Dortmund agreed he’d stay for one more season before leaving for Liverpool.
That’s why we didn’t sign a midfield player in the summer until Melo who is a stopgap because of the raft of injuries we had early season.
I’m not ITK and it pure speculation on my part but I’ve thought it since the summer and everything that’s happened since then (Jude saying Gerrard’s his idol and him being very friendly with Trent) has only strengthened that belief.

{Ed002's Note - Whilst Liverpool may be able to sign Bellingham there is no agreement with Dortmund and two other sides have already held discussions.}

30.) 04 Dec 2022 17:12:57
Is it Chelsea and Madrid Ed?

{Ed002's Note - No, Madrid see him as too expensive without including a player or two in any deal.

31.) 05 Dec 2022 13:37:41
I’m sure lots of teams will hold discussions Ed2 but my belief is that he has his heart set on Liverpool and we have agreed to sign him.
There might not be anything officially agreed but I truly believe this has been at least verbally agreed and will happen in the summer.

{Ed002's Note - So tapping up again? Brilliant.}

32.) 05 Dec 2022 23:01:46
Would it be tapping up if he’s had a word with Dortmund and told them his plans and they have agreed to let him go in the summer? His agent has sounded us out and we’ve said we will finance the deal in the summer?
Seems like that’s the way a lot of deals would happen is it not?
I think it’s very naive to think that players don’t sound out clubs that they would like to join and even agree to make the move without an official agreement being in place. They are human beings with wants and desires not robots programmed to a set way of acting.

{Ed002's Note - If the club have approached the player directly it is tapping up. Everyone is sick of Liverpool illegally approaching players and one complain from the summer is still with UEFA for consideration. The approach to be taken is as the clubs who approached Dortmund to discuss him. That is what Liverpool need to do.}

25 Jul 2022 21:50:33
Hi edds. Any sign of ox moving on?

Walkon79

{Ed002's Note - Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (CM/RW) AOC is uncomfortable with his lack of game time and options are being sought by his agent. May look to run his contract down which will open up options. WHU and Aston Villa may provide options. Newcastle may provide another as they struggle to attract players.}

1.) 26 Jul 2022 09:33:25
ed2 - is there a limit to how many times you'll post the same response before you reply with RTFP, or does it depend on what side of bed you got out of :p kidding, peace:)

2.) 26 Jul 2022 11:01:56
His limited game time is due to persistent injury and abject performances. How does he ever expect to be anymore than a back up player to the back up players. Sorry I like Ox but has wasted his career maybe through no fault of his own but still if I was the manager of another team he would be nowhere near my thinking, to spend money on a crock is madness I thought this when Klopp signed him and nothing changed. Nice chap for sure.

3.) 26 Jul 2022 11:26:27
any news on his injury how bad it is?

4.) 26 Jul 2022 11:58:50
He'd be great for one of the sides that have just come up, or as a rotation player for the Toon army. 15m guvnor, a steal at twice the price .

5.) 26 Jul 2022 17:39:33
How has Ox wasted his career?

6.) 26 Jul 2022 20:13:34
Rinse repeat.

7.) 27 Jul 2022 19:50:02
He’s ultimately been a very bad but for the money spent. Was never a fan.

8.) 28 Jul 2022 03:21:40
Or to put it another way @Hessle if it was your money spent on the player you would regret spending it, which is fair enough.

However, it wasn’t your money and you didn’t buy him, so whilst your opinion is perfectly valid, it appears it isn’t shared by the people who did actually spend the money and who work (through the coaching staff and manager) with the player on a daily basis.

9.) 28 Jul 2022 14:07:16
Unlike Bobby, I'd like to see Ox moved on. His play doesn't add to the team and his injury record stops him from getting momentum. He's shown glimpses of the player we looked to buy, but never hit the levels IMO.

{Ed0666's Note - I’d move on Naby, Ox & Jones if we can get buyers and revamp the midfield. I think a move to somewhere like Forest would be a great move for Jones as he deserves regular games to showcase his talent he’s needs to play regularly.

10.) 28 Jul 2022 22:25:53
Interesting point Ed. In your hypothetical, would Jones be sold or loaned? I see a bit of a young Hendo in his situation. Could grow into a role maybe?

{Ed0666's Note - I’d sell him mate. I don’t think he’s gonna be anywhere near Hendo’s level not now not in 5 years. That’s not to say he won’t have a great career I just don’t think it will be at Liverpool. For me that midfield needs a profound overhaul and I feel The Ox, Naby & Jones will make way. Milner will be gone and Hendo will be severely managed. Maybe Jones stays and becomes a squad player because of the midfield exodus but in my opinion he doesent become a regular starter. I really hope he proves me wrong because the kid has a great attitude.

Regarding Endo, why did it take VAR so long for them to check that Endo was clearly fouled from behind by Hughes before the build up to a penalty being awarded against van dijk? Anyone with half a brain could see it was a clear and obvious foul, yet VAR took an eternity to deliberate over it? Me son is 5 and said straight away dad that's a foul.

Walkon79

1.) 12 Dec 2023 22:07:58
Think you’ve answered your own question “Anyone with half a brain”.

2.) 13 Dec 2023 00:09:18
Said the same at the time Walkon. If you can’t see that’s a foul after one replay you simply shouldn’t be a referee.

Same with the penalty to be fair. Why is taking nearly 2 minutes to see that Quansah fouled Mateta? It was clear after one look.

They got the right decisions in the end but all this waiting around for the most obvious of decisions is ruining the game.

3.) 13 Dec 2023 02:01:51
The thing that confused me about that whole incident is that the ref has his hand out like he is playing advantage ie somehow endo has been the guilty one.

4.) 13 Dec 2023 09:45:45
I think he was about to blow for a handball by Endo Phil. Then saw Palace were in a good position so played advantage. Good refereeing. He obviously thought that Hughes got the ball on first look as he was behind the players so couldn’t see.

But then on seeing the challenge on the screen it was very obvious that Hughes took Endo’s right leg whilst pushing him in the back and got nowhere near the ball.

It’s an easy one to give, why it took so long and over 30 views I have no idea.

This is the major problem with VAR for me. Refs have a safety blanket so if they are not sure they carry on, thinking that they will get another look on VAR if they need to. Then they are so scared to get it wrong that they can talk each other into the most baffling of decisions.

The Anderson chance at the end was another example of the problems with VAR. He was offside but the linesman isn’t sure so doesn’t put the flag up. Ali saves and it goes for a corner. If they then score from the ensuing 2 corners they won’t go back to the original offside even though we can all see it was.

VAR is good in some ways but it causes a lot of issues in others.

5.) 13 Dec 2023 09:53:11
Just because people aren’t certain what the referee is doing doesn’t necessarily mean that what the referee is doing is wrong.

10 Dec 2023 09:50:05
Awful game and a hard watch, but jesus the moaning on here is laughable at this stage. Top of the league, came back from a losing position again, that's 18 points so far so this season from a losing position, more than anyone else in the league. I wonder if that's the reason we are top of the league ? but na it's still just moan, moan, moan here.

Walkon79

1.) 10 Dec 2023 11:23:06
Some people are never satisfied.

2.) 10 Dec 2023 12:14:42
The only thing that satisfies some is the moaning afterwards.
I don't get it myself, but each to their own.

3.) 10 Dec 2023 12:47:50
Flash, it is fine to criticise a perf. which per yesterday, was not up to scratch at all BUT it seems people would rather moan and berate and scapegoat only rather than give an overall assessment of things. It's mad.

4.) 10 Dec 2023 14:56:46
We see it every week Oli. At times I almost feel sorry for the negative hooples, they must be getting desperate for something to really whinge about what with us topping the table and winning consistently. It's a hard knock life, eh?

5.) 11 Dec 2023 01:56:44
I thing the 18 points from a losing position is brilliant - shows the attitude and determination at the club. I thing the real point of football though is that it’s the score at the end of the game that matters and we seem to be doing alright on that score (excuse the pun) .

02 Mar 2023 04:32:36
We've won and yet this page is so slow, why is that? In fairness I did post earlier and me post has not been put up ?.

Walkon79

{Ed001's Note - yes it has.}

1.) 02 Mar 2023 08:59:41
It always is after a win Walkon some people only find the time to come on here when they want to moan it seems. They hate wins as they have no one to blame for anything.

2.) 02 Mar 2023 09:50:14
3 points is all that matters right now and we got that so job done. Hoping we can build on it with a victory against United on Sunday who will be a tougher opponent. On a side note I just love Nunez. One of the few bright sparks from this season.

3.) 02 Mar 2023 10:55:49
Beckers, fo shizzle my nizzle. Clearly apparent to many and since quite some time. I guess this forum is a soundboard for some to release the negativity collected in daily life, I don't know. But I guess it's fine, since we end up discussing football and LFC in some shape or form.

4.) 02 Mar 2023 12:38:22
Another clean sheet, as well.
I'd take another on Sunday ?.

5.) 02 Mar 2023 14:35:33
Some of us have jobs to go to. Not everyone has time to post. Anyway good victory for the lads.
Let's hope it's a confidence boost for the upcoming utd game.

6.) 02 Mar 2023 16:03:51
Beckers, some people could NEVER see the positive in anything, period. We won. Not great and at times pretty laboured BUT we won. We take it and move on BUT some people simply are incapable of doing that. Not bothered anymore with such people. It's what they do.

7.) 02 Mar 2023 17:46:59
Are we now moaning because moaners aren’t coming on here and moaning.

I was in a pub last night outside Anfield a quite a few people in there having a beer and moan during their LFC discussions. I was going to tell them to stop moaning and be better fans but realised it’s a different kettle of fish not doing it from behind a keyboard.

8.) 02 Mar 2023 18:07:39
To be honest, there’s not many positive posts either.

Hey look I get it, when we win we can all go about our days with a warm fuzzy glow looking forward to the next match.

When we lose people are frustrated and need a place to vent so they come on here.

We all want the same thing we just express it in different ways. The world would be a boring place if we all thought the same.

Great post BP.

11.) 03 Mar 2023 12:01:32
Oli is correct. Finding something to moan about has become more important to many than the enjoyment of watching the actual game or result.
Moments of breathtaking skill, sublime passes and great goals are overlooked in the rush to log in and whinge online.
Even funnier are the snowflakes sticking up for them. All in all very funny to read at times.

12.) 03 Mar 2023 17:41:18
Flash, you ain’t never lied. To some it’s as if you are not allowed to be positive about a win even tho you equally recognise that the perf is not good or could be better. Like you are not allowed to entertain multiple thoughts on a topic at the same time.

Seriously, I wonder how such people survived all those lean years when we were bang average. I guess I’ll never know and prolly, that’s a good thing.

Not conceded a league goal since I've not watched a game, it'll be hard but I'll have to try and swerve Sundays game.
Who was tonight's man of the match?

For sheer contribution to the cause. You were Walkon79.

2.) 02 Mar 2023 00:01:00
I thought Trent was superb, played with real energy and a bit of the old swagger.

3.) 02 Mar 2023 04:45:32
Ed001, whilst you're here and if you don't mind please. How do you rate Marco Silva? I know he didn't too all that good at Everton, but I firmly believe he is a highly promising young manager.

{Ed001's Note - he can't organise a defence and will get caught out when other teams catch on to the glaring weaknesses in his team's organisation. Teams have just been surprised by them, forgetting they have spent huge amounts of money and they are flying high on confidence. It will all come crashing down in time.}

4.) 02 Mar 2023 04:46:14
And for such a lovely assist RedQ, I shall let you take the plaudits.

5.) 02 Mar 2023 05:08:49
Hard to call a MOTM. I thought Fabinho and Jota both had very good games.

6.) 02 Mar 2023 11:01:25
My choice would be Nunez. He plays with a lot of energy, causes confusion and chaos with his speed. He's unpredictable (alternating the raw wih the sublime) . He attracts attention from the defenders always, and consequently Salah and Gakpo will get more and more opportunities.

7.) 02 Mar 2023 16:07:29
My choice for MOTM would be Elliott. With how much the kid tries his best and NEVER hides during games as he did last night, I fail to understand the type of hate that comes his way from many in our fan base. I thought he was really good last night and was part of everything great that we did.

As for Darwin, I'm with ArAy1969. He is absolute poison for opposing defences and to me, I think his all round game is actually improving and with that, the goals and assists have come flowing again and will provided his all round game keep s improving.

8.) 02 Mar 2023 17:21:43
I thought Jota had a very good game in reality for his first start in a while, the front 3 pressed together, they looked pretty fluid too considering lack of playing time together.
Q, The disallowed goal, I thought that it was a pen on Jota, he was imo levered with a leg taking him, I get jota’s right foot took out the covering defender but. as I’ve stated, Jota getting taken out led to his stretch with his R peg, thoughts ppl?

Young Stefan is a joy to watch, I’m seriously impressed with him - if he’s a player who doesn’t get injured the sky’s the limit for the kid, not far off Pedri and Gavi imo.

A big hand for the kids making it past Porto, an unbelievable pen given against the kids in the 8th min (seriously look at it), they worked hard, got a leveller from Fraundorf, could have won with little more accuracy as we pretty much controlled the 2nd half. Fingers crossed they get some players back in time for the QF?

Hi ed001, hope that you are well. Just a query on the younger players at the club. The emergence of Bajetic this season is something that has really excited me, and goes to show that sometimes it's well worth the risk in giving the younger lads the opportunity to play. We do seem to have quite a few players in the academy with high potential, I think Doak is an excellent prospect and do hope he gets more opportunities with the first team. Same with Ramsey, I know he's been very unfortunate with his back problem, but he is another player I think could really turn out well. Which of the younger players do you think have the greater prospects of making it into the first team like Bajetic has?

Walkon79

{Ed001's Note - personally I think Ramsay was a mistake, not because I don't rate him, he looks excellent, but because we already had a right-back as good as him imo. I think he is one that would have had a good chance otherwise. The rest it will probably come down to luck as much as their ability whether they make it with us, other than Doak, as none stand out like he does. If there is a glut of injuries in their position, one could come in and shine and earn a chance, other than that, I don't personally expect any more to break through from this current crop.}

1.) 02 Feb 2023 09:26:59
What about our players on loan Ed? Like Morton and Clarkson. They seem to be doing quite well on loan. Do you think they would be able to be part of the squad next season?

{Ed001's Note - I don't think either are quite at the level we need, unless they are happy as squad players. I would doubt they want that though.}

2.) 02 Feb 2023 09:55:37
I’m hoping a certain kid from derby, praying that his growth issues are behind him, can show people why he was so highly rated.

Looks to be very down to earth and driven so hopefully that will translate to performance.

3.) 02 Feb 2023 10:00:14
hope Musialowski isn't turning into a bust. I would like to proudly proclaim that I called Bacjetic months ago. Said he was ready for the first team and here he is. Not saying he is Makelele, but he is definitely ready to play, make mistakes, learn from them etc etc good on the lad.

4.) 02 Feb 2023 10:35:47
Thanks for the reply Ed. I was actually hoping that Morton could make it. I've not seen him play much but I do like what I have seen, little as it may be. He's only just turning 21 though so hopefully he gets a good preseason with us to show that he has developed on his loan.

{Ed001's Note - I like him, he is good technically, very fast, but I worry about his judgement. He might be an option to replace say Henderson. He is quick enough that hustling around the pitch would come easily to him. But I just feel that a player like him, that doesn't stand out as head and shoulders above the rest, will end up like Jones and Elliott and be a scapegoat and target for abuse.}

5.) 02 Feb 2023 10:39:50
Gordon Ed?

{Ed001's Note - not for me, he does not impress me at all, Doak is far better.}

6.) 02 Feb 2023 10:58:46
I thought Gordon was really impressive in the 3 or 4 games he started in the Carabao Cup last year.

Admittedly, I haven't watched any of his academy performances though so don't have the sample size.

He's probably got a key 12-18 months ahead in terms of recovering fitness and form, as well as his mind.

{Ed001's Note - did you think so? I thought he was a show pony to be honest.}

7.) 02 Feb 2023 11:33:32
Cheers Ed, thank you. Granted he's only a kid, but I really do think Doak will be excellent for us, very tenacious and direct with quick feet and fast too. Hoping he gets some game time before the end of the season, even if its just ten minutes here and there, it all adds up and would be great for his development.

{Ed001's Note - yeah he does look a special talent.}

8.) 02 Feb 2023 11:51:09
I didn't see anything that suggested he was a show pony. If anything he was very direct and continually offered an outlet. I don't recall any overdribbling. But maybe my memory is failing me!

I do agree that Doak looks a tier above Gordon though.

9.) 02 Feb 2023 12:20:14
I agree about Gordon FPF, thought he looked a top prospect! i know big things are expected of him.

10.) 02 Feb 2023 12:52:10
What’s your views on Elliott Ed001.
I like him, seems to have his head screwed. Works hard. Probably not his best position but still getting good game time.

{Ed001's Note - I like him a lot, he is still a kid, but he does seem to have grown up a lot in the last couple of years and displayed a mature attitude. I am not sure where his best position will end up being, he needs to be coached into a role I think. That will take time but I think he has the wherewithal to make it work.}

11.) 02 Feb 2023 13:14:46
I think a lot is on youngsters now days to be the next Salah or Suarez. The expectancy is to hit the ground sprinting and be the best in the world.
Patience is key, He Derain when he came wasn’t the best. Had been amazing for us, Suarez first half a season. Not the greatest, his football for us was class.
Salah, Mane and Torres are the only three I can think of who we have bought and started and maintained a fantastic standard.

Need to give these players time to grow into their roles. Accept there wrong doings and keep the protected.

12.) 02 Feb 2023 13:33:46
Could never see the fuss over gordon myself, although he v young and has time on his side. Doak looks great prospect. I think morton would be well capable of challenging for a place in team on what I've seen of him.

13.) 02 Feb 2023 13:34:37
What about that lad who has been banging in goals for u21 side? I don’t watch the youth teams so I haven’t watched him play other than in highlights. His stats read very very well though.

14.) 02 Feb 2023 13:19:38
Ed01, I cannot even rate Ramsay on whether he is good enuff or not cos he is always injured which is normal growing pains for a young player so hopefully, he gets healthy enuff to get a run of games so he can be judged adequately.

{Ed001's Note - hopefully he will grow out of it like Gerrard did.}

15.) 02 Feb 2023 17:17:00
Well seeing he was just gone 17 when he made most of his appearances for us your a hard man to please Digger!

16.) 02 Feb 2023 19:41:24
Good point in fairness jude!

17.) 03 Feb 2023 06:48:10
Would much rather see Doak on the right wing getting minutes behind Salah than Elliot.

Well he sure does seem to like banging them in. Really disappointing to see Bazunu starting ahead of Kelleher tonight. Ed have any clubs enquired about Kelleher?

Walkon79

{Ed002's Note - Caoimhin Kelleher (G) The player needs to consider his future and could look to move on for first team football in the summer. Whilst Spurs are looking for a new GK, they have identified a first choice target they would like and I am not aware of any approach to Liverpool about CK and they will have a new coach this summer who will have his own ideas, but they have looked at him. He will have interested clubs in the summer.

Ed01 who would you personally like to see get the job? Apologies if you have been asked this already.

{Ed001's Note - Xabi Alonso. He stands head and shoulders above the rest for me.}

Really sad to see him go, but it's football, players/ managers come and go. I did question the timing at first, but now I think it makes sense. Klopp loves Liverpool, that's clear to all. He wants to leave the heir to his throne in a good place. I heard months ago that Alonso has practically agreed to be our next manager, and apparently it is written in his contract.
