Hi Ed001, I highly appreciate the effort you put into this site and I'd imagine your work load has vastly increased since the unfortunate passing of Ed002. I do have a question though if you don't mind please? Lots of rumours that Doak and Elliot could well be off very soon, I don't agree with that one bit and think we should be keeping highly promising young home grown players like them. Do you think there is a chance they will be sold and if so why? Thank you.
{Ed001's Note - there is a very good chance because both would make a significant accounting profit to enable the club to finance signings and neither are seen as reaching the level required.}
1.) 10 Jan 2025 12:56:39
Even Elliot Ed001 mate? I understand the injuries, but really a shame for him if he’s not able to show what he can do under slot. What do you think is lacking from Slot and his coaches’ point of view mate?
Interesting though, love the lad and can see his passion for the club.
{Ed001's Note - I think the injury just came at a bad time for him. Personally I would sack off Mac Allister before him, but it is not my decision and Elliott is better from an accounting point of view.}
2.) 10 Jan 2025 13:06:42
I get that Ed, but even though I rate Elliot above Jones I would imagine that Jones would cost more to buy? Seems a shame, I really like Elliot as a player, he always looks and drives forward when he has the ball. Do you know if there is anyone in particular we are looking to buy if we get money for Elliot or Doak or is just a case of balancing the books? Thank you.
{Ed001's Note - I don't know who we are looking to, but it does seem to be a case of raising cash to buy players, rather than balancing the books. I would have assumed a midfielder anyway, but if Elliott is going that need increases. But we still face the prospect of having to replace 3 key players as well.}
3.) 10 Jan 2025 13:25:42
This has the same ring to it as Chelsea and Newcastle where they are selling their best youngsters to bank roll the 1st team. an unforseen effect of PSR.
4.) 10 Jan 2025 13:26:35
I think Elliott is really technically gifted but he lacks the strength to be in the centre and the speed to be on the wing. I would sell Jones before Elliott who is still too hot and cold and is prone to muscle injuries but it's not my decision either.
5.) 10 Jan 2025 13:47:48
I would sell all three and get some money to invest in the squad now that it’s clear we don’t have cash available. All those years of dominance on the pitch and CL and we are down to bare bones.
6.) 10 Jan 2025 13:57:24
It would be a tragedy to let Elliott go. His work rate is superb as is his mentality, you see how much it means to him playing for us every time he takes to the pitch. I very much hope it’s not true, I like him so much I bought an Elliott kit right after preseason.
7.) 10 Jan 2025 14:18:08
FSG_PR, we’re cobbling enough pennies together for the summer window after next for that big all out assault to sign Snoogie Doogie and Bozo Texino.
8.) 10 Jan 2025 14:27:55
It doesn't surprise me that Elliott could be sold. The last two games have shown us how much with Szobo's energy/ legs. What chance does Harvey have here?
If Brighton are interested in Elliott then there's a couple of players they have that we like the look of.
Really happy that Doak is making the most of his loan and attracting attention. Hope he gets a move where he can build on that rather than sit on the bench.
9.) 10 Jan 2025 14:37:07
I'd imagine Elliott, Doak and Morton are all for sale at the right price. They are all great sales for the accounting side of PSR and none of them are contributing to the first team right now so it's not like we would even be desperate to replace them. McConnell and Nyoni arguably step into the place of Elliott and Morton as 6th and 7th choice midfielders. Doak isn't even in the squad to need replacing. Yet their sales probably fetch close to £80m, which is nearly all profit within the PSR guidelines.
Be interesting to see what goes down but ultimately, a huge mistake Klopp and Edwards repeatedly made was to hold on to players too long and eventually their values fell until they left for peanuts or ran down their contracts. Edwards and Slot have to get that side of things right. City have actually done it to great effect in recent years. Yes, it bit them in the backside with Cole Palmer but it also did them a huge favour with Gabriel Jesus, Ferran Torres, Olek Zinchenko, Raheem Sterling etc. who all fell apart as footballers after their sales but still raked in over £100m.
10.) 10 Jan 2025 14:40:16
The mad thing is that United are now open to selling mainoo because of the pure profit thing too, and he’s pretty much their best player and future. Bizarre how these psr regulations have created such a strange consequence.
11.) 10 Jan 2025 13:08:32
Mac Allister? Really Ed? I think he’s class!
12.) 10 Jan 2025 14:48:04
Elliott’s a lovely guy and his attitude is spot on . Nice skill levels as well, but hasn’t got the physical attributes to play for us as a week in week out starter. That’s why he’s surplus, and the profit angle helps us right now as we need to buy desperately.
Ben Doaks got the physical side, but not the decision making at the moment, not at elite level anyway. Again that's why if we can turn a surplus we’ve got to let him go unfortunately.
If we want to be elite, and be able to keep investing in new players and pay others crazy salaries to keep them, we have to make these harsh calls. The club probably ideally want to keep them, but equally would prefer not to pay Trent and others £250k plus a week. Not sure how else they can balance the books.
13.) 10 Jan 2025 15:08:46
Rather we sold Jones than elliot.
14.) 10 Jan 2025 15:30:58
I imagine we have to raise funds to be safe on the FFP front as it looks like our losses are big from last season with no Champs’ league plus signing 4 midfielders.
Which leaves me so confused about how Arsenal and Man U have been able to spend so much.
Martin Samuel at The Times does drone on an awful lot about the unfairness of FFP as he feels it makes it impossible for ambitious clubs to compete with the big 6. He does have a point, but I do like the idea of clubs being self-sufficient.
15.) 10 Jan 2025 16:18:47
I ultimately wouldn’t mind if we sold Curtis but probably one to revisit in the summer. I think he’s a step up on Harvey given the system we play, so don’t mind keeping him as a rotation option, and he’s also got a good attitude and work ethic.
As we’re looking to bring one more in in the central positions that will push him further down the pecking order, so he may start to look elsewhere anyway.
16.) 10 Jan 2025 16:33:05
Thank you Ed, sorry for bugging you with another question but if it was up to you, which players would you move on in order to make money?
{Ed001's Note - Mac Allister, Jota, Quansah, possibly Nunez.}
17.) 10 Jan 2025 16:48:07
I think it would be a massive mistake to sell Harvey myself. The lad always gives 200% is a mad liverpool fan (that matters to me) and will run through brick walls for the team and we need players like that. He’s obviously a bag of tricks as well and has a wicked shot on him.
I really hope we don’t sell in Jan and give him some time to bed into this new set up under Slot as he’s not really had the chance as of yet.
18.) 10 Jan 2025 17:01:21
I think Doak could play a role as Salah’s understudy he’d have offered us more than Chiesa has.
19.) 10 Jan 2025 17:29:16
Well if we need to sell elliot and doak who haven't even been chances this season but keep players like Jones and buying keepers for 30m who aren't even that good then sorry but i might just call this club a day. If that's how bad we are ran as a club then the future is far from bright. I'd sooner elliot plays than injury prone jota, nunez and Jones all day long.
20.) 10 Jan 2025 17:48:09
I agree with the poster who mentioned Jones before Elliot as he blows too hot and cold for me for a player reaching his mid-twenties.
Ed001, would Jones make your list of players to release for profit? I'd imagine he'd carve out a great career at a mid-table club.
{Ed001's Note - I would prefer to sell neither, but if it is necessary I would consider Jones as well, yes. And Morton.}
21.) 10 Jan 2025 19:02:52
Curtis probably suit Fulham, not sure how good Morton is yet and whether his value is peak level or whether a final loan may help him. Curtis will probably decline value wise, so a decision will need to be taken soon. He was linked with Arsenal last season, whether true or not I still think he’s a top ten in the Prem level player. Ironically if he didn’t play for us we’d probably like him more.
I like Mac in a more advanced role and would keep until summer at least, still like to see Darwin given a run until end of season, but if no improvement let him go then.
22.) 10 Jan 2025 22:17:01
If Jones wasn't a local lad he'd be gone . He's not getting any better and isn't likely to at this stage either. Cash in on him now and get a decent fee for him. No point in sentiment getting in the way of business.
23.) 11 Jan 2025 07:49:45
Curtis has two bad games and folks pile on him saying he’s only in the team because he’s a scouser, does anybody appreciate him on here?
02 Nov 2024 19:09:49
Hi Ed002. As far as you are aware do we have any interest in Mbeumo?
{Ed002's Note - Bryan Mbuemo (RW/F) Seen as a potential upgrade to Miguel Almiron by Newcastle and as an option for both Arsenal and Aston Villa. I am not aware of any approach by Liverpool and having read the article in Equip, they are not saying Liverpool are interested.}
08 Aug 2024 18:55:38
I'm not really one for rumours, but according to my bookie pal ( their usually right ) Liverpool are preparing bids for Zubimendi and Soler, they apparently really want Gordon too but will only bid once they've freed up space and have the funds.
1.) 08 Aug 2024 19:18:58
I can’t see them bidding for two midfielders especially when soler is 27 unless he is very cheap.
2.) 08 Aug 2024 19:32:10
Julio Soler is 19 and a left back.
3.) 08 Aug 2024 21:01:31
Sorry Thought it was Carlos Soler.
4.) 08 Aug 2024 21:27:37
Didnt the bookies have us favourites for Bellingham.
5.) 08 Aug 2024 22:02:38
We were JK until we wouldn’t pay the wages. Short sighted IMO because you can cash in later if needed. However you can sort of understand it when it would have broken the wage structure.
Zubimendi seems a top talent as well, really hope it gets done.
6.) 09 Aug 2024 01:56:41
Bellingham wanted to go to Real Madrid, end of story.
7.) 09 Aug 2024 03:49:36
The bookies are interested in making money not getting transfer rumours correct.
8.) 09 Aug 2024 05:37:55
Wdw the narrative last season was Bellingham wanted to come to Liverpool. Lifelong fan I think it was said.
9.) 09 Aug 2024 06:00:40
Won’t be Zub. Doubt the lb until Jan. imo.
10.) 09 Aug 2024 07:03:32
Or maybe Bellingham didn't come to us last summer was because we had such a poor season, that we looked club on a downer. The time to go for these top players is when the team is on top themselves.
I. e after getting 90 odd points in league r playing in champ league final.
11.) 09 Aug 2024 08:26:43
WDW is correct, Bellingham wanted Madrid.
It's funny how some will ignore the facts and invent their own history so they can pursue a negative narrative towards the club.
Playground behaviour.
12.) 09 Aug 2024 09:35:23
Thrush if you say he is correct then he must be correct. After all any adult who is still a fan of cartoons must be the fountain of knowledge.
13.) 09 Aug 2024 09:55:32
As always cheers for your input Thrushthered.
Looking forward to having a beer with you at Anfield this season.
14.) 09 Aug 2024 10:43:41
How does anyone know what happened with Bellingham? You’re just guessing and passing it off as facts.
Obviously, in the end Bellingham wanted Madrid because that’s where he ended up. That’s doesn’t mean that he always wanted Madrid or that he never wanted Liverpool or any other club.
We are talking about human beings who are making decisions on their career. It’s just not as black and white as people seem to think it is and I’m sure that things change quite often.
15.) 09 Aug 2024 10:53:32
How is saying Bellingham was favourite with the bookies guessing?
It was a fact that he was favourite with them to join Liverpool.
16.) 09 Aug 2024 12:19:53
Well BP I'm going by an interview with Bellingham where he said himself he was always going to go to Madrid.
I generally tend to put my faith in something that comes from the horse's mouth rather than clickbait garbage or people's psychic musings on here.
Of course that's only my own perception, people have the right to fabricate their own versions and pass them off as legit. It's not as if it's against the law. It also won't stop me from laughing at it.
17.) 09 Aug 2024 12:38:34
I’m pretty sure ed002 said at one point earlier on in the bid for Bellingham’s signature that he expected Bellingham to end up at either Madrid or Liverpool. I think our chances faded away at some point or other but I distinctly remember we were in the conversation at one point, at least enough of a chance for us to not be considered ‘never in the running’. We did some weird things like make promises to family members and stuff and ultimately we didn’t seem very attractive with the season we had but I’m sure, unless memory fails me, that we were in with a shout.
{Ed002's Note - No, I never said he would move to Liverpool. Liverpool were formally warned about making a direct approach to his family.}
18.) 09 Aug 2024 12:55:15
@JK23, I suspect that I was the lifelong fan that thought Bellingham wanted to come to Liverpool. If that is the case, then, with hindsight, I made a mistake at the time. I’m thinking of starting a club for those of us who make mistakes from time to time.
19.) 09 Aug 2024 13:04:30
People say a lot in interviews, doesn’t mean it’s actually true. He’s just pleasing the fans of his new club ect…. liverpool were in the mix 100% and no doubt the wages were the deciding factor, after watching him for England couldn’t care less…. we got mc and szob, I’ll take them over bell now anyday.
20.) 09 Aug 2024 13:25:52
I distinctly remember that in a post where somebody pressed you to guess where he would end up, you replied Madrid or Liverpool, Ed. I don’t think I would make something like that up (or at least my mind wouldn’t fabricate something so fanciful, I hope), never meant that your meaning was he was going to Liverpool, but that at one point in time it was a possibility rather than a big fat zero.
21.) 09 Aug 2024 13:38:14
WDW you've come to that assumption yourself.
I've not said a lifelong fan or you have said anything.
I've said it was said Bellingham was a lifelong fan and that the bookies had him as favourites to join us.
22.) 09 Aug 2024 14:54:51
Geez it's a Friday and the start of the weekend. Lighten up. ?.
23.) 09 Aug 2024 17:14:46
Bellingham was just using us to get Madrid to hurry up and sign him.
24.) 09 Aug 2024 17:40:11
Real sociadad plane to be diverted to liverpool airport after their match tonight merc van be there to pick up a certain player nod nod wink wink.
09 Jul 2024 19:31:00
Is Robertson leaving?
1.) 09 Jul 2024 19:42:50
Hopefully.
2.) 09 Jul 2024 19:55:47
I’d say it was Tsimikas who would be the one likely to go.
3.) 09 Jul 2024 20:01:17
"Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson to be sold as Liverpool rocked by £140m raid predicted by AI"
Yeah, that seems solid alright lads. Might as well kiss them goodbye.
{Ed025's Note - its set in stone then SR..
4.) 09 Jul 2024 22:00:34
Robbo is Scottish. My lads only a quarter Scottish and he burns after 10 minutes in British Sun. If Robbo went to Saudi he’d have 3rd degree burns within 5 minutes of getting off the private jet.
5.) 09 Jul 2024 22:40:22
The hopefully comment is so disrespectful to say about a player who gives everything for us on the pitch and has helped us achieve so much.
6.) 10 Jul 2024 05:59:40
Didn’t Robbo hope to play for Celtic after his time at Liverpool was up?
7.) 10 Jul 2024 08:49:05
Who’s going to replace Robbo.
He’s not done yet.
8.) 10 Jul 2024 11:02:10
He’s 30 Ron Keague, therefore “he’s far too old”. He also missed a lot of games last season so he is now in the “made of crisps” bracket. Not to mention that we only finished 3rd which also qualifies him for his “mediocre at best” badge. I also saw him get skinned by Saka this one time at Fan camp, which of course categorises him as an “oil tanker”, which can also be described as someone with “the turning circle of the titanic”. Lastly, his decision to play at the Euros instead of report for pre-season training on time is a clear indication that he has “ a terrible attitude”.
I hope we give him a new contract personally. I think he deserves it for one, but I’d also love to see how certain people on here would react to us contracting a player to 33/ 34 years old. Could be riots.
9.) 10 Jul 2024 16:36:11
Who is Al?
{Ed025's Note - artificial Intelligence WDW, like wot i got.. :)
10.) 11 Jul 2024 02:12:05
I personally prefer ALE to AI.
After a few pints I always feel a lot smarter.
11.) 11 Jul 2024 07:34:23
Thanks Ed AI also looks like the first 2 letters of the name Alan or Albert and this being a banter page and all ?.
{Ed025's Note - no worries mate..
03 Feb 2024 15:51:12
Conor Bradleys father passed away this morning. R. I. P and god bless you young Conor ?.
1.) 03 Feb 2024 16:05:27
So sad after the week they have had as a family watching his son score his first goal get man of the match and two assists. Condolences RIP.
2.) 03 Feb 2024 16:14:56
That’s awful news.
Puts football into some sort of perspective.
3.) 03 Feb 2024 16:46:28
Rip
Strength to him and his family. Wheels of fate is real strange.
4.) 03 Feb 2024 17:08:04

Does anybody know please when we play our game in hand?
1.) 30 Dec 2024 22:45:08
Apparently it’s the next round of the CL weeks but need UEFA approval after we’ve guaranteed top 8 and not playing in that round.
Think it’s week of 17 Feb.
2.) 31 Dec 2024 01:14:47
Tuesday 11th February.
3.) 31 Dec 2024 12:23:53
Cheers lads.
26 Dec 2024 16:07:26
Tonight's game faces the possibility of been called off due to severe fog?
1.) 26 Dec 2024 17:53:35
Just get a good old fashioned orange ball and all will be reet.
28 Nov 2024 06:55:24
Don't want to jinx it but I have a feeling that Slot could be out very next Paisley.
1.) 28 Nov 2024 08:33:17
You just did.
2.) 28 Nov 2024 08:53:30
But People love shanks ?.
3.) 28 Nov 2024 09:09:15
No, no, no. Not yet. Slow down.
Slot is doing fantastically well, and has won the respect and adherence of Kopites worldwide, but Paisley rivals Ferguson as the greatest manager of all time.
We can, however, talk about this when Slot wins one of the big two.
For now, however, I wouldn't choose anyone else.
17 Nov 2024 09:41:49
I remember a few years ago a lot of lads got together to play a football match.
Just an idea but maybe a charity match could be arranged to raise funds for Ed002's chosen charity.
06 Nov 2024 23:31:32
I really think we are going to win the league this season, then again there was a time where I thought I was going to marry pamela anderson. I'm loving Slots cool, calm and composed demeanour, he also strikes me as ruthless. Out of all the 3 contract situations it is Van Dijk I don't want to lose the most, I know he is aging but as good as he was initially, i actually think he's improving as a player. It's a given he'll be gone eventually, who replaces him when he goes? I really feel konate is ready to step in and replace him as our defensive lynchpin, he's still very young, but who becomes his sidekick when Van Dijk is gone? Gomez? Quansah? Somebody else?
1.) 07 Nov 2024 00:37:17
I think we'll win it as well mate.
2.) 07 Nov 2024 06:35:16
Could win but need to beat city in a few weeks and get a good gap on them before new year. As good a chance as any but I’m sure they’ll strengthen and usually pick up form in Jan so we will need 6plus points advantage imo.
3.) 07 Nov 2024 07:23:10
I can see us losing form, getting some bad luck or decisions and some injuries so I'm less optimistic.
It has happened to City and I think they'll recover and it happened to us at the end of last season.
Saying that, I was the same in 2019/ 20 and we pretty much kept on going. This group isn't as strong though but I'm ever the pessimist!
I'll have rethink if Pammie does agree to marry you, Walkon.
4.) 07 Nov 2024 08:00:16
I think the contract situations will detail us later in the season. It's natural for those players who are just about to leave to have a dip as they plan for life with a new club. We've also had a relatively easy run of fixtures at the start which has got confidence up. When we lose another game and face harder opponents, we will lose points and City will be there to pick us off.
I hope this isn't true but that's what I feel will happen.
5.) 07 Nov 2024 08:50:51
Don’t give up on Pamela, Walkon. As she ages, her standards will drop so in 20-30 years, you could be in there! ?.
6.) 07 Nov 2024 08:51:07
Cant see any of them 3 taking their eye off the ball if they're going for a league.
7.) 07 Nov 2024 09:17:18
We look impressive no doubt, but I wouldn't get carried away. Only takes an injury to VVD in my book for the wheels to come off. If we are still ahead in January with a solid buffer then I'll start believing a bit more but we've seen how many times how impressive City are in the run in so I think we'll need to capitalise on their current poor form of results.
I have also been impressed with Konate, to be fair I always have been, it was only ever his injuries holding him back. Gomez would be the partner for me, deserves an opportunity for his loyalty and professionalism alone. Quansah is good but lacks the pace for me to be a consistent starter.
8.) 07 Nov 2024 09:25:46
I wonder what the reaction would be if we won the PL or CL and the three players were about to leave.
I reckon some fans would see it as an excuse not to celebrate ?.
9.) 07 Nov 2024 09:31:16
@Brommers, apart from City (who are nowhere near as effective without Rodri) who are the harder opponents than Arsenal, Chelsea and, for different reasons, United?
10.) 07 Nov 2024 10:08:58
I'm loving Slot at the moment and the team are doing great.
This time last year Spurs fans were loving Ange though as they were sat top on 1 point more than we currently have.
I'm not comparing us to Spurs as we are a far better side I'm just comparing the situation of we are still very early into a season (just over a quarter played)
I believe we can win the league but i also still think City and Arsenal are also in the running but it is advantage us because only our results now count.
Last March there were early title celebrations from some supporters and that was with 18 games left, we still have 28 to go.
Results have been fantastic though.
Hopefully we can get these contracts sorted sooner rather than later as i know contracts can takes ages to sort unless they are on transfer deadline day or in the months of Aug or Jan where we clubs must use fast track printers.
11.) 07 Nov 2024 10:26:50
Why do people still think that we haven't played any big teams yet? There is only Man City from the top 5 who we haven't played!
12.) 07 Nov 2024 10:41:19
Don't worry lads, I've sent Pamela many proposals, I'm sure one day she'll give in ?.
13.) 07 Nov 2024 10:45:10
8 games sorry not 18.
14.) 07 Nov 2024 10:48:21
Have to say Zed I liked that reply. Very funny ?.
15.) 07 Nov 2024 11:32:17
What we will win is too early to tell, personally. Just enjoying the good vibes and the journey so far.
16.) 07 Nov 2024 12:37:56
I think the difference between us and spurs, oli, is that the spurs way of playing was very straightforward and clear to see from day one, all the flaws of that way of playing were very patent too, and once spurs began to run into problems tactically and with injuries, when they didn’t have the personnel or legs to sustain that way of playing and that level of intensity, they didn’t seem to have much of an idea how to solve them. Whereas with slot, while there is an obvious problem with our press and sometimes that arsenal managed to exploit, you can see that he makes significant changes to response to game states, and that he’s not riveted to an on or off the ball structure hell or high water.
You have the confidence that he can learn from mistakes and flaws in his defensive structure and in the build up, and that he hasn’t fully arrived at a definitive way of setting this team up, which is why it’s frightening that he’s picking up results while he’s learning on the job. Also, there’s the fact that this wah of playing doesn’t look unsustainable through the course of the season- the team have obvious passages of the game where they slow the entire game down and then pick it up moving through the lines when it suits them, so it’s not like they re busting a gut from first minute to last.
17.) 07 Nov 2024 12:44:50
Oops, I was addressing oil by mistake rather than JK, as I should have done.
18.) 07 Nov 2024 13:28:19
Patrik no worries mate and I 100% agree with you. I think there is zero comparison between us and spurs and only used them as an example of same time and place a year ago.
I could probably look at other seasons where we haven’t won the league and we might have been top around this time as well.
But great reply though.
With only 1 league title in 30 plus years I’m always anxious about the league where as others seem far more confident season after season.
But that’s the beauty of football.

Thank you Ed, sorry for bugging you with another question but if it was up to you, which players would you move on in order to make money?
{Ed001's Note - Mac Allister, Jota, Quansah, possibly Nunez.}

Thank you.
{Ed001's Note - I don't know who we are looking to, but it does seem to be a case of raising cash to buy players, rather than balancing the books. I would have assumed a midfielder anyway, but if Elliott is going that need increases. But we still face the prospect of having to replace 3 key players as well.}

For me it simply was how good the team of the eighties were. Used to watch and go to a lot of football games with my dad who was a massive Leeds fan. I was just blown away by how good they played, and obviously won a lot.

Also has the biggest win ratio of any other player that has played 300 games for us.

Tut tut, sega megadrive? Joyce has just confirmed that it's a commodore 64 which keeps Jota up until all hours.

I do always have issues with the text box. I simply write whatever I am sending in a normal text to myself and then copy and paste it onto here. can't believe the audacity and rudeness of the OP though.
