Virgil has re-signed. Well done Edwards and Hughes ?.
1.) 17 Apr 2025 11:39:57
We knew it was coming but that's just huge.
2.) 17 Apr 2025 12:14:19
Amazing. I heard Richard Hughes was a chancer who did nothing and somehow he’s managed to get Mo and Virg to sign.
It’s like it doesn’t make any sense.
3.) 17 Apr 2025 13:50:43
Glad they have signed but come on, it should not have taken to the point of having 2.5 months left on the contract.
Just glad it is finally done so I'll stop moaning.
4.) 17 Apr 2025 14:20:00
Why does it matter when they sign Taurus? Genuine question. Is there some benefit from signing earlier? If so to who? I’m not saying there isn’t, I just can’t work out what.
If Trent were to sign next week for example. Would it really matter that it wasn’t 2 years ago?
5.) 17 Apr 2025 13:54:40
I don’t think he negotiated the contracts isn’t that Julian Ward’s dept? Eds?
{Ed001's Note - yes.}
6.) 17 Apr 2025 14:22:24
Taurus, why?
Why does it matter other than to placate your own sense of nervousness and entitlement? If they signed in two months what difference would it have made?
The club knew what was happening, the manager did (as he admitted) and the players did.
The club, as usual, got it right. Do you not suspect it may all have been done a while ago but they didn’t want to leave Trent as the only one unsigned? Do you suspect that might have been difficult for him as we try and win a league?
7.) 17 Apr 2025 18:25:15
As a club we cannot put a gun to a players head and make them sign a contract. And who really knows what happens during the negotiation phase. Player and agent will have one stance and version, the club will have another.
8.) 17 Apr 2025 23:29:12
I’m sorry but all this well done Hughes rubbish is ridiculous it’s Liverpool football club that was the key factor here not Dick Hughes.
9.) 18 Apr 2025 00:18:40
If we could have the contracts signed earlier and bring certainty to the club, of course you would take it.
I don't suspect anything regarding when it was done because there is no point. That is all heresay with no proof so it is not even worth mentioning.
10.) 18 Apr 2025 09:24:38
What certainty?
How would that manifest? Do you mean you’d feel a little better? If the players, the board and the management team all knew (which they did) why would it materially matter other than to placate you?
What would this sense of certainty do and how has this uncertainty affected us?
Are you just saying football things that don’t have actual meaning?
11.) 18 Apr 2025 11:27:45
@Taurus, I think what you really mean is you would have been less stressed if they’d re-signed 12 - 18 months ago. I would too. Truth is though the players wanted to make sure they got what they thought they deserved whilst the club could really not do anything whilst the players didn’t engage.
The great thing to come out of it is that we have two world class players - still playing at the top of their game - have committed to the club for another two years and it also goes to show that the negotiation process worked despite the one or two slight murmurs from social media where a couple of people were getting anxious about the club not doing anything (which turns out to be wrong) .

Whilst Arsenal are on the floor, I think it would only be right and proper to give them a good kick on Sunday.
6 years and 1 FA Cup, for all his rhetoric, and support from the club in terms of buying players he wants, Arteta isn’t a winner. No doubt he’ll have his excuses and pointing finger out, he always does.
1.) 08 May 2025 01:48:09
Tbh, it's these kind of situations that I worry about. Arsenal are wounded and we already have the deck chairs out. I think Arsenal would be out to prove a point while we are still in party mode. I can foresee a loss for us this weekend.
2.) 08 May 2025 04:26:07
Be interesting to see how both teams approach. Arsenal could get up for it after a disappointment. We could get up for it cos it’s them.
Personally, I hope we turn for it for sure.
3.) 08 May 2025 05:24:51
3-0 to us.
4.) 08 May 2025 06:03:41
You didn't hear. Arsenal won the league twice this past week and have the beat real Madrid trophy.
And their set piece coach is manager of the season.
5.) 08 May 2025 06:04:04
We will win.
6.) 08 May 2025 06:30:50
I really don’t care too much for the result.
No injuries, no cards, put the fringe players in the shop window.
That’s all that matters.
7.) 08 May 2025 06:54:40
Well if they do beat us they can add the “we beat the champions trophy” to their cabinet,
I used to be fairly well wishing towards Arsenal but nowadays it’s the complete opposite.
I simply can’t stand Arteta. Even last night “Look at the squad we brought here” “the best team lost” “there hasn’t been a better team in the tournament”. He’s detestable.
8.) 08 May 2025 07:04:16
Time to stop considering them a big club imo
Small clubs go around stealing chants whilst only being in 1 European final in their existence, not big clubs.
9.) 08 May 2025 07:08:50
Arsenal still celebrating their “we beat PSG earlier in the season” trophy.
10.) 08 May 2025 07:44:11
LFC8, for the record, Arsenal have been in more than one European final. And they have won a Cup Winners Cup.
11.) 08 May 2025 07:45:40
If we lose to arsenal then "we are the lucky champions" gets louder.
12.) 08 May 2025 08:44:48
People can say what they want we’ve been easily the best team in the league and are deserved Champions.
As for Arteta trying to say Arsenal were the best team in the competition? What have they been smoking at the Emirates? Honestly, who is he trying to kid? PSG comprehensively beat them. The only reason Arsenal made it that far is because they had easy fixtures. We would’ve walked past PSV and Madrid. They even got PSG when they’d hit a bit of bad form and hadn’t won in 4 games and Dembele was on a goal drought. We got PSG when they had won 20 games straight!
The best 2 teams in the Champions League this season were PSG and Liverpool and they could only be separated by penalties.
I’m all for managers bigging up their players but it has to be slightly realistic. You can’t just make up random claims that have no basis in fact. Then you just look delusional.
{Ed025's Note - lets be honest Robbo...PSG battered you and only for Alisson the first leg would have been 10-1...now thats being realistic mate..
13.) 08 May 2025 08:51:13
Honestly house of cards I could care less, we lost after the title was won, it's perfectly understandable that levels drop a bit after the title is wrapped up, it's just human psychology. Arsenal are a joke honestly, arteta saying they were the best team in Europe this year, that the psg bench told him they were the better team, even Luis Enrique couldn't stifle a guffaw when he heard that one in the post match conference. I hope they keep arteta so arsenal can remain the best team in the world in his, the London press and their fans' heads, but not in actuality.
14.) 08 May 2025 09:06:18
Not sure that's fair ed025, they outplayed us for 90% of the game but watch the game back and they actually didn't have that many truly clear cut chances, definitely not enough to score 10 at any rate. Also donnarumma played a blinder against us at anfield and against arsenal last night, maybe you should mention that too?
{Ed025's Note - come on PB, Ali made about a dozen world class saves in that game mate and was outstanding, Donnarumma played well at Anfield thats true...but that game should have been 4-0 to PSG as well..
15.) 08 May 2025 09:34:49
“If we lose to Arsenal then "we are the lucky champions" gets louder. ”
Who cares?
We have won the league and are 15 points ahead of 2nd place.
A strange take for a Liverpool fan, I’m starting to wonder if you even are House of Cards based on your comments.
16.) 08 May 2025 09:56:18
I'm with you, Navy Keith. Who cares. So much angst regards to what people say on social media. Don't read it or listen to it! We are Champions of England 2025 and that will never change.
17.) 08 May 2025 10:03:25
Ridiculous ed, Liverpool should have been at least 2 if not 3 up in the first 20-25 mins at anfield, arsenal too started very well against psg last night, convenient of you to count psg's chances as chances and ours as nothing. Donnarumma saved a clutch of shots at anfield and kept them in the game.
{Ed025's Note - you cant count half chances PB or if we did it should have been 45-6, all im asking for is a bit of honesty and perspective mate, PSG absolutely mullered you but the score did not reflect that of course..
18.) 08 May 2025 10:13:09
Honestly Rome. Never seen so much worry about what some trolls on social media opinion on our title win is.
There will always be a “yeah but…” from other fans on why a rivals team achievement is lesser. That’s how it is.
If people are waiting for everyone’s approval before they can enjoy something, they will never enjoy anything.
19.) 08 May 2025 10:33:05
I can't agree with that ed, I think we were the better team over 90 minutes at home, they were the better team for 95% of the away leg. But European football isn't even about who the better team is, or else real wouldn't have won any of their champions leagues in recent years.
{Ed025's Note - it’s how you see things I suppose PB. Our specs have slightly different tinted colours mate but that’s fine by me..
20.) 08 May 2025 10:51:54
Cracking forecast for the game on Sunday, its going to be another opportunity for the fans to celebrate win, lose or draw.
But if we're being honest it'll be that little bit sweeter if we do win.
21.) 08 May 2025 12:07:06
House of cards posts read likeMaze/ Germansuppclub on the united page, negative, confrontational and hyperbolic.
01 May 2025 01:23:40
Sorry, a bit of fun.
Let’s assume Liverpool are going to make 4 signings to go into next season’s match day squad.
Let’s forget money, contracts and age and just pick:
1. The four positions you would chose
2. The best player for each position based just on footballing ability
I’d pick
CB Huijsen
Mid Baleba
CF Isak
Def Cambiaso (who kills two or three birds with one stone)
1.) 01 May 2025 03:08:04
I'd agree w the first 3 but I don't know anything about Cambiaso. So I'd go with Kerkez.
2.) 01 May 2025 03:20:20
Pretty much the same as yours WDW although I'd switch Hato with Cambiaso purely because I have not seen Cambiaso play before so I'm not sure how good he is.
3.) 01 May 2025 06:49:43
If we’re saying forget about transfer fees (therefore realism) .
I’d go:
Bastoni
Hato
Valverde
Isak.
4.) 01 May 2025 07:18:10
Unrealistic.
Huijsen, lewis-skelly, Valverde, Yamal
Also Trent resigns.
What I think would be a dream summer of 4 signings of Liverpool realistic signings if only money were no object:
Hato, Huijsen, Baleba, Alvarez
Also Trent resigns.
But money is object so above also unrealistic.
5.) 01 May 2025 07:35:36
Im with Red_Flyer
Kerkez
Huijsen
Baleba
Isak
But wouldn't mind keeping Endo and getting in Wharton.
6.) 01 May 2025 07:48:14
Forgetting transfer fees and other factors:
Kerkez
Huijsen
Ederson
Isak.
7.) 01 May 2025 08:04:40
Huijsen
Wirtz
The rest for the club to decide.
8.) 01 May 2025 08:06:57
CB Saliba
LB Kerkez
FWD Yamal. I would move Salah as Striker.
LW Vinicius
We are good in CM if Endo stays.
YAMAL SALAH and Vinicius.
9.) 01 May 2025 08:18:38
Wirtz
Bastoni
Rodri
Isak.
10.) 01 May 2025 09:05:14
Based on if Trent stays.
Huijsen
Kerkez
Zubimendi
Isak.
11.) 01 May 2025 09:30:09
Huijsen
Hato
Baleba
Isak
And honestly. top of my list would still be Trent.
12.) 01 May 2025 12:44:12
Realisti
RB from Brazil
Husjisen or Hancko
Kerkez or Hato
Baleba or Ederson
Cunha or Sesko or Mulembo
Delap.
13.) 01 May 2025 17:57:59
LB Kerkez (someone with assist potential but can defend when needed)
RB Arnau Martinez (same as above but to compete with Bradley rather than replace him so maybe younger with potential)
CM Bruno G or Ederson. Or maybe see if Wolves would sell Joao Gomes (someone that can play 6 at times)
STR Cunha (someone that can link play but also get goals - firmino type)
11 Apr 2025 08:04:26
So, Mo has signed a contract and it’s official. Nice work by the club.

24 May 2025 03:29:55
@Xiceroy, I think all of us would have said th3 same about signing Wirtz this time last week.
24 May 2025 03:22:01
I think Slot sees something in Jones that he doesn’t quite see in Elliott.
{Ed025's Note - i dont know why WDW, it must be because hes a Scouser, because he is absolutely crap as a footballer mate..
23 May 2025 23:11:59
That seems a strange thing to say @Dom, but for some reason it did make me chuckle ?.
23 May 2025 23:09:54
Great shout @Wassa. Enjoy the retirement George - big shoes for someone to step into.
23 May 2025 19:40:19
So, all they have to do is find a pen, type close?
West Derby Wanderer IV's banter replies
23 May 2025 21:45:18
It’s nice to see people diving into the deep end because they are happy, normally it’s because the club are seen to be making mistakes.
If there are comparisons to be made jurgen is more like the messianic Shanks and Arne is more like the ruthlessly efficient Sir Bob.
23 May 2025 21:41:16
??? Are you the Batman?
23 May 2025 12:02:23
The “Top” at United couldn’t organise a p! ss up in a brewery. They might have brought him in part way through this season but 5heir problems have been there and gradually getting worse for the last two decades.
23 May 2025 11:55:32
The chance of United being paid a one-off lump sum payment of £120m from the sale of a 31 year old with suspect temperament and attitude is very, very, very remote.
23 May 2025 05:52:37
95% of all stats @JK ?.
