There were reports Lewandowski to LFC, Klopp connection and all. How possible is this, noting our finances?

2.) 25 Aug 2021 20:05:19
Exciting stuff … but what’s that got to do with Liverpool?

3.) 25 Aug 2021 20:20:14
Orgy, absolutely nie chance. Where have you been man? Ah I see the clue is in the name.

4.) 25 Aug 2021 21:47:05
Don’t care. He’s awesome but IMO a massive gamble with huge costs. Think at PSG he’ll continue to thrive. Anywhere else he’s unproven. Old and expensive major expensive at least CR7 gives a little bit of guarantee as he’s played in three top leagues proven record and sells shirts.

5.) 26 Aug 2021 00:09:38
Aren’t Bayern asking for a big transfer fee for him? And he’s going to be on stupid wages too? Evidently “Fair Play” is dead.

Paul joyce saying trent is out for 4 weeks.

Milner or Neco at RB then?

It would be nice to see Neco get an opportunity and run with it to be honest and I've seen some pretty good attacking play from him too.

Milner being on the pitch is never a bad thing though, similar to Hendo, a senior head and keeps the guys around him motivated.

Will be interesting to see who drops in.

2.) 10 Nov 2020 00:38:53
Gomez can play there with Fabinho back.

3.) 10 Nov 2020 07:27:47
If we are able to retain/ attack/ win this league campaign, it will be an awesome accomplishment.

4.) 10 Nov 2020 09:59:45
3 years ago in a similar situation TAA got his chance and grabbed it by both hands, and some!

5.) 10 Nov 2020 10:24:39
Fabinho, Neco or Milner can play right back.
2 of the 4 weeks will be taken up by the international break.
Leicester is the most problematic game coming up that this will affect.

6.) 10 Nov 2020 12:14:01
Might Reds, more likely Fabinho will cover Trent rather than Gomez as Fabs was originally a RB and considered by us for that role before Trent's emergence.

7.) 10 Nov 2020 14:56:03
Zed - I'm pretty sure Fabinho's dropped into center half and pushed Gomez to right back in games more than once since he joined (Community Shield, for example) . Conversely, I don't think I've seen him play right back for us ever. Even though he regularly played right back for Monaco.

Personally I don't want to move Gomez out of the center, but I think that's what'll happen unless Klopp uses Williams.

8.) 10 Nov 2020 15:55:40
Good point, SR. Did wonder why Fabs hasn't played RB for us - maybe Klopp prefers more attacking, but in which case why play Joe there when he is the more defensive one between him and Neco?

9.) 10 Nov 2020 21:21:15
I would prefer to leave Gomez in the centre and Fabinho in midfield ideally.

Neco and Milner to share the minutes in right back.

10.) 11 Nov 2020 10:04:31
If Neco isn't our replacement RB, and Milner or Fabinho are ahead of him in the pecking order, perhaps we need to be in the market for an actual RB replacement?

He should be the only choice for RB currently. Just like Kostas would be the LB option if Robbo were to get injured.

11.) 11 Nov 2020 20:11:04
Ya as per c_matthews, if Neco isn't our first choice right back backup then why would we have given him a 5 year contract. He has to play the majority of the upcoming minutes at right back.

Have heard that Allisson is out for 3-4 weeks with a shoulder injury. Adrian will have to step up like he did at the start of last season.

Heard it’s only concussion from training.

2.) 04 Oct 2020 12:46:43
I have heard that he is fine, only time will tell. He had a clash in training with Trent but they both are ok for today's game.

3.) 04 Oct 2020 14:05:23
If its concussion is there not a return to play protocol?

With the club announcing all the backroom staff will also leave at the end of the season, it would appear the club knew since November, so maybe the wheels are in motion for jurgens successor already.

Liverpool echo saying chelski have now agreed a fee with soton for lavia. it gets worse??.

Whitey6times

1.) 11 Aug 2023 20:11:58
Worse? How most LFC fans were slating lavia he will get swallowed up in the Chelsea loan system good luck to him.

2.) 11 Aug 2023 21:09:37
How is it worse? Many on here didn’t even want him here. Also the club didn’t even think he was worth the 50m so what have lost exactly? Man, relax.

I think if TAA was to be moved into a more midfield position, then Kyle walker-peters would be a fantastic target as a right back.

Trent will still be the right back in my opinion. We just need to work on how the other players on the pitch position themselves when he steps into midfield. I thought it looked like a 2-2-6 but seen some others say they saw it as a 3-2-5 and they could be right too. The way I saw it, there was a defensive box of Virgil, Konate, Fabinho and Trent formed when he went into midfield. I think it worked quite well against Arsenal and Leeds but the jury is still out for sure. On the counter, it did look weak down our left as Fabinho lacks pace and Virgil isn't as good in 1v1 situations as Konate. If you threw in a quicker midfielder to screen Virgil (such as Thuram or Rabiot) then it'd probably be a solid defensive block. Or maybe Robbo is told to fully stay back and it does become a back 3 as some suggested.

Onto your main point though, I really hope the academy lads are given a chance in pre-season before we sign any average players with no scope to get any better, like Walker-Peters. He's weak defensively and all he really has going forward is the pace to make an overlapping run. He's scored a couple of memorable goals and admittedly would be an okay back up to Trent. Certainly not good enough to be a starter for us so Trent can fully move into midfield though. Just my opinion mate.

If he could stay fit then James Justin would be a decent signing as he can play right back, left back and centre back in a back 3. He can also play in midfield so would be decent cover for Trent if we persist with the inverted right back stepping into the midfield even when Trent is out. Problem is Justin can't stay fit since his major injury a couple if years ago. He's the only homegrown right back not already at a top 8 team that i'd be interested in. Solid defensively, very comfortable on the ball, and a lot of energy up and down. Injury has probably ruined him though and we don't need more injury prone players.

I'd honestly just rather look for an internal solution seeing as Trent plays 90% of games. Mabaya looked good last pre-season and he can play right back and midfield so would be capable of covering that inverted full back role if he can step up to senior football. Ramsay might recover in time for pre-season, much as I have my doubts over his fitness, and has the raw ingredients to play as an inverted full back. Bradley is really good and having a stellar loan spell, but admittedly he's more of a wing back so I'm unsure he could play the inverted full back role. It could also just be that when Trent isn't playing we just revert to the orthodox 4-3-3 instead of having the right back step into midfield and the whole shape twisting to accommodate it.

I can see why there is a attraction to just playing Trent in midfield and signing a right back but if we do that we can surely do better than Walker-Peters. In that scenario i'd want to go and get a player as good at right back as Trent. Hakimi or Frimpong for example. I like St Juste and Timber too, as centre backs who can cover right back. But we basically have that in Gomez already.

2.) 22 Apr 2023 08:07:08
Livramento would be a better option I think.

3.) 22 Apr 2023 09:12:18
Frimpong or singo.

4.) 22 Apr 2023 17:31:15
Trent will still drift in and play that role from RB IMO, something he had been doing on and off since last season. What we need to do is get the players in to make the system work again that will allow him to flourish in that role going forward. That said, I am a huge fan of Walker-Peters and have been for years.
