Saw this on Twitter:
BeinSport claim Liverpool are close to signing Real Betis’ Algerian centre half, Aissa Mandi. Only “minor details” need to be ironed out to complete the deal

Any truth in this?

Willo_the_wisp

1.) 03 Aug 2020 17:14:32
Can see this one happening. Fee of around 10 million. Decent business for a player that will likely be 4th choice.
Haven’t seen much of him so can’t say whether or not he’ll be a good signing.

2.) 03 Aug 2020 17:30:01
I read the same, earlier in the day that we bid £9m but Betis want £10m for him. I know very little about him other than that he can play all across the back four.

Betis conceded 60 goals this season (the second most in La Liga) but I guess he's only one piece of that defensive unit.

3.) 03 Aug 2020 17:44:31
Nothing from The Fat Kid, so I think there could be something in it.

4.) 03 Aug 2020 18:16:52
I have only seen highlights. Looks much better for Algeria than he does for Betis. Certainly looks a decent 4th choice for £10m and apparently he can play both full back positions too.

5.) 03 Aug 2020 18:21:30
Looks like its going to happen, he has 55 caps for his country, and can play all across the back four, so he could cover VVD, if needed,
not sure on Matip, heard about a big offer coming in for him, he is a great defender, but very injury prone, and we could use his transfer fee on another centre back,
money seems to be a problem, so selling Matip could give us more options, maybe Ben White, English and doesn't miss many games, he would be my shout .

6.) 03 Aug 2020 18:33:46
Is it a good signing? When AFCON happens that'll be,
Salah
Mane
Keita
Mandi.
That's probably 3 starters and and 4th/ 3rd choice C/ B missing.
White makes more sense from a H/ G point of view, obviously if we can ship out matip.
4 cb's we could probably be able to have.
Vvd
Gomez
White
Phillips.

7.) 03 Aug 2020 19:21:19
Jamesred. The next AFCON is in January 2022. It was initially rearranged for January 2021 but it's been put forward again.

It's not something we should be worrying about right now.

8.) 03 Aug 2020 19:37:38
Why would we use one of the quota of foreign players up for a 4th choice CB?
Lloyd Kelly and Carlos to replace Lovren and Matip would make the most sense.

9.) 03 Aug 2020 20:48:36
Re-check with Ed002, Epic. Last week I asked him and he said it was on for Jan 2021.

10.) 03 Aug 2020 21:15:36
It’s definitely been rescheduled for 2022. The decision was made on 30th June this year.

11.) 03 Aug 2020 22:32:29
Chelsea used to lose Geremi, Essien, Mikel, Kalou and Drogba. Never heard them moaning when they were dominating English football. It's only 1 month.

12.) 04 Aug 2020 06:41:48
I asked this yesterday OP and got told to RTFP mate. If you search there is an explanation that basically he could be an option. No idea if we have approached Betis or how much truth there only being minor details to iron out.

Imo I doubt we will sign him, he seems average at best in a poor Betis side but we will see I guess.

13.) 04 Aug 2020 07:50:09
Less than a month for a few of the players if they don't progress in the tournament.

14.) 04 Aug 2020 08:39:50
I would contend that Salah and Mane are going to be huge misses when they do go on AFCON duty in 21/ 22 as they score the bulk of our goals, so we do need to use the time between then and now to find suitable replacements or we will have a five/ six week period in the 21/ 22 season when goals will be hard to come by, but time is on our side to get Elliott and Minamino ready.

15.) 05 Aug 2020 11:23:16
Just to confirm 6Times, it was originally planned for Jul 21, then in Jan 20 it was moved forward to start Jan 21 due to the weather in Cameroon in the summer.

Then on 30 Jun 20 it was pushed back to an unconfirmed date in 2022 - likely again to be Jan/ Feb 22.

23 Feb 2020 07:50:06
BBC Gossip column reporting LFC interest in Birmingham City's Jude Bellingham.
Imagine the Kop singing "Hey Jude", that would be special.

22 Aug 2019 19:20:28
The Ox has signed a new contract extension. Could be a key player for us this season.

Willo_the_wisp

1.) 22 Aug 2019 19:27:41
Glad to hear it. Ox seems to be a good person to have in the locker room and he can have a real impact as the season goes on.

2.) 22 Aug 2019 19:35:57
He will be a key player.

3.) 22 Aug 2019 19:40:53
Like a new signing. The English Be Bruyne.

4.) 22 Aug 2019 20:02:45
I was a big believer in Ox before he came to Liverpool but I’m slightly surprised that the club have extended his contract given his injury.
He’s not ‘like a new signing’ because he’s damaged goods, as harsh as that sounds, and would we even sign him at all if he’d had that injury back then?

5.) 22 Aug 2019 20:10:00
Sign new deal get MOTM vs old club. Not a bad few days eh.

6.) 22 Aug 2019 20:53:31
Nice to see you stand by our players juicer, damage goods is fecking well harsh, maybe you should try and support the team and players, instead of putting crap like that.

7.) 22 Aug 2019 22:28:11
think the juicer has been juicing too much and his brain has gone to mush.

8.) 22 Aug 2019 22:56:42
He’s not ‘like a new signing’ because he’s damaged goods,
======================================
Wow . most of our players have had an injury in the past including Salah and Mane . are they all damaged goods? .

Look I do have a concern that Alex gets injured quite often, probably the way he plays, don't know . But unfortunately there are players that have this problem and these players sadly never achieve their full potential.

9.) 22 Aug 2019 23:06:02
Sorry lads. I’d have waited until the season end before offering him an extension but I certainly hope he comes good again and stays healthy. As I said, I always liked Ox and was very supportive of his coming to the club. I think he’s a favourite of Klopp’s, which is fair enough.

10.) 22 Aug 2019 23:18:36
'He’s not ‘like a new signing’ because he’s damaged goods. '
Best supporters in the world!

11.) 23 Aug 2019 08:39:59
I agree juicer turn of phrase wasn’t a particularly nice one, but i take his central point. it seems slightly odd to extend now when we haven’t seen if he will be able to return to his pre-injury form. At the end of the day, we’re emotional supporters but the club are hard nosed business people. I hope to goodness he can get back to how he was playing for us, he was brilliant.

12.) 23 Aug 2019 08:42:06
Thunderbird - thankfully we live in a democracy so the majority of fans count not the minority.

13.) 23 Aug 2019 10:33:54
I mean we have club doctors and all kinds of guys in the fitness department who constantly assess Oxlade, I'm pretty sure the club are well aware how his injury has healed and whether it's a big risk or not. Better to leave them to weigh that up than assume he's going to be made of glass because of a freak injury.

14.) 23 Aug 2019 12:15:55
Do Man City consider KDB as "damaged goods? he like the Ox has suffered some pretty serious injuries in his time in England.

15.) 23 Aug 2019 19:16:57
Happy for the lad great person and player someone I would like to see at the club for his entire career.

16.) 23 Aug 2019 19:52:49
Signing a year extension was nice touch from the club to show AOC that he's highly valued. He lost out on a full year of his career and nice to see that Liverpool are showing him that he's deserving of making up for that year he missed out on.

Clearly those within the club have seen he's worked hard and shown a great attitude to earn an extension. He's still reasonably young so a longer contract can't be anything other than a sensible choice.

Madness to see some fans not in full support of this decision, the same fans who probably moaned when lovren got a new deal in the past, he'd probably be gone on a free transfer by now without it.

17.) 23 Aug 2019 22:04:40
Lot of people didn’t fancy the ox when he signed I myself was happy 😃 tho I did think the fee was astronomical. But I like him, as a player he turned the doubters around he seems like laugh . I will stand and argue with anyone who doubts him and I think it’s class offering him a extension but nothing I wouldn’t expect the club to do. Some of you still don’t get what it means to be a red YNWA happy bank holiday guys.

{Ed047's Note - I liked him but always thought he flattered to deceive, never quite reaching the level I’d hoped for.

His injury record is shocking and from that side of things was not sorry to see him go.

Nice lad though and wished him well when he went.

https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alex-oxlade-chamberlain/verletzungen/spieler/143424

18.) 24 Aug 2019 11:02:53
Sorry Har, but I just happen to think the timing is a bit strange, that’s all. It’s nothing to do with supporting the Ox getting a new deal, I don’t think there was any rush for him to sign was there ( I might be wrong) . I don’t think there’s anyone that can be sure he’ll return to his pre-injury form and that’s all my point is. We all have to wait and keep everything crossed that he will do, but football is littered with players who were never quite the same after injuries. I personally just think it could have waited to Christmas that’s all.

19.) 25 Aug 2019 00:08:38
@lfchopeful I understand your caution but it's just 1 year extension it's not that big a gamble really., just a nice case of backing from the club to show that we believe he's worthy of getting back that year he missed out on.

Ben Woodburn on loan to Villa.

Willo_the_wisp

1.) 29 Jul 2018 17:10:10
Good move, maybe he'll start being recignised as the top talent he is when people see him playing week in week out in a good competitive league.

2.) 29 Jul 2018 18:26:46
His cross for Shaqiri was sublime and his awareness was excellent. I like Woodburn a lot quality player.

3.) 30 Jul 2018 14:54:50
Id love to see him playing more regularly and getting a chance to establish himself.
He has shown the ability to do something out of the ordinary but he won't get many chances to show that this season again unless he moves down a level.
Seems like the perfect move for me.

4.) 30 Jul 2018 21:08:56
I like Woodburn a lot too, but I just don’t see him making the grade at us I’d love to b proved wrong.

27 Dec 2017 17:14:36
75m fee agreed for VVD.

Willo_the_wisp

1.) 27 Dec 2017 17:23:44
Ooohh boii. This site going to have a meltdown now. Can see a lot of fighting over this one.

2.) 27 Dec 2017 17:29:22
Don't know if I should be happy or not. Last year he was beast, ine of the best centre backs in the league. This season he is below avarage, hope it was all because of what happend in the summer. But still 75mil looks too much. If tranfer happends let's hope he can prove all the doubters wrong. YNWA.

3.) 27 Dec 2017 17:29:26
We could, and should have bought a bloody good keeper for that.

4.) 27 Dec 2017 17:29:48
No pressure there then,

5.) 27 Dec 2017 17:26:14
So cheating works and FSG went back on their words did they? Or the apology was meant for the previous owners of S'ton not the current one - so it didn't matter now?

{Ed002's Note - I am sorry? You think the apology to Southampton that FSG made in an attempt to avoid further charges of unprofessionalism and tapping up means nothing now? The charge remains on file with the Premier League as I have explained.}

6.) 27 Dec 2017 17:38:01
Ed002 can you clarify the bid being accepted? I've noticed it has come from Twitter so remain skeptical!

{Ed002's Note - No, I cannot confirm anything at this time.}

7.) 27 Dec 2017 17:41:15
Only thing I would say, some doubted Klopp over buying Ox and Salah, look how they turned out. If it is true, I am sure he will be a mega signing and hugely help our defence, but we need a £75m goalkeeper more in my opinion. Our defence has improved this season, our no.1 keeper hasn’t and Karius isn’t world class.

8.) 27 Dec 2017 17:42:22
Thanks anyway, I'm sure all will be revealed in due time! My pessimism makes me think this is the start of a bidding war.

9.) 27 Dec 2017 17:42:49
Ed I think kwkhong was being sarcastic mate.

10.) 27 Dec 2017 17:46:21
I doubt anyone else is going to offer more for a player they know wants to join Liverpool. Yes the fee is high but 15million of that at least is an apology.

11.) 27 Dec 2017 19:43:09
Welcome VVD. I’m going to go out on a limb now and say SoHa sign De Vrij lol.

Elliot out injured, damn these internationals.

Willo_the_wisp

1.) 06 Sep 2021 12:51:41
Arrggghhhhh!

2.) 06 Sep 2021 13:20:57
Absolutely nie surprise, wonder who is next?

3.) 06 Sep 2021 13:36:00
It's not actually the end of the world, Jones/ Kieta/ Ox can all come into midfield. You just don't want it to be anything long term.

4.) 06 Sep 2021 13:37:59
Liverpool are speaking to and negotiating with authorities in Guinea, aiming to bring Naby Keita back to Merseyside amid the military coup that has broken out in the country.

5.) 06 Sep 2021 14:26:06
And those cretins at FIFA want more intentional tournaments. .

6.) 06 Sep 2021 16:42:08
OP based on James Pearce (I know, a very reliable journo, lol), Elliott was withdrawn as a precautionary measure hence, they don't see him missing any real time. Take that with a pinch of salt, considering the source. As for Naby, that is a more than sticky situation.

7.) 06 Sep 2021 17:01:57
Elliot was sent back to Liverpool after failing to sufficiently recover from a knock picked up against Chelsea, but yeah it's the internationals fault🤦‍♀️.

8.) 06 Sep 2021 17:17:47
Why are England U21 playing Chelsea in the first place. Bloody internationals 🙄.

9.) 06 Sep 2021 18:30:24
I bought tickets to that game this morning. Mainly to watch Elliot play but also because it is played nearby. That's annoying.

10.) 06 Sep 2021 22:22:19
Elliott and mini should be ok will need a late test but just knocks apparently.

04 Sep 2021 20:19:52
Hi eds, any truth in these rumours of Mo wanting 500k per week?

Willo_the_wisp

{Ed0666's Note - if he does we should sell him ASAP. I doubt that are his demands tho.

1.) 05 Sep 2021 00:12:48
When you see the demands of Haaland and Mbapp (and if this is true) he’s only asking for what he considers is the “market rate”. He’s got the club by the short and curlies. It’s hardly like we’ve got the money to replace him with like for like quality and we don’t have anyone in the squad capable of replicating his output in terms of goals and assists, reality is that he’s likely to just let his contract go down and get that salary elsewhere. Selling him isn’t going to generate a huge amount of money given his age and the fact his contract expires in 2023.

{Ed0666's Note - you give someone 500k a week it disrupts the harmony of the group. No way it’s gonna happen.

2.) 05 Sep 2021 02:45:35
I don’t think it’s true, however, you’re not getting someone to match Salah’s output for less than those kind of wages if we sell him. I just hope it’s not another case of us trying to paint a player as the bad guy before selling. James Pearce tried putting out negative articles about him in January when top 4 was unlikely and got called out on it. Even Wijnaldum said as much about the reports painting him in a bad light when it looked like he might be off. If Salah was to leave and Mane not get back close to his old level we could well end up needing to buy a whole new front 3 in one window.

3.) 05 Sep 2021 08:32:45
"Creative journalism" on a slow news day.
In other words, print something so audacious folks will click on it.
The sad thing is there are many who will completely believe it without questioning it at all.

4.) 05 Sep 2021 08:33:28
The choices are pay him what he wants, sell him next summer for relative peanuts given the remaining time on his contract, or let him leave, each option being unpalatable and each being less palatable than the other. It took us three years to replace Owen adequately when he left, it took us three years to adequately replace Suarez when he left, given the dearth of quality out there, it’s likely to be equally as hard if not harder to replace Salah.

5.) 05 Sep 2021 09:14:48
Apparently it is in the Sunday Mirror.
'Nuff said.

6.) 05 Sep 2021 09:20:37
Salah isn’t going to get those wages even at PSG or Real at his age and whilst he is an incredible player for us in terms of his output he isn’t the world class dribbler he is sometime made out to be and the on the level of Mbappe etc. He is a level below that. If he can’t see he would be better off staying where is is adored and will be the main man with us and prefers to be second fiddle somewhere else so be it. Take what you can get for him and move on.

7.) 05 Sep 2021 09:05:56
I think it was Ed002 who said that Real turned their head away at his demands when his agent was offering him around. And this is from a club who are happy to pay Alaba 400k a week. As they say there’s no smoke without fire. I really want Mo to sign a new contract and stay with us but I wouldn’t put any significant money on it. Hopefully a weekend away in Blackpool with Klopp might change his mind.

8.) 05 Sep 2021 10:59:40
£300k a week seems fair. Salah deserves to be our highest paid player.

9.) 05 Sep 2021 11:40:52
Dont think he'll get them wages but in fairness numbers wise and taking into account he plays in a much harder league he is on that same level as the likes of Haaland and Mbappe.

18 Dec 2018 07:47:22
This must be the first upcoming transfer window where I am not really bothered about us adding to the squad, apart maybe some CB injury cover.
Anyone else think we barely need any additions?

Willo_the_wisp

1.) 18 Dec 2018 08:14:13
We need to get rid of a few that’s it for me.

2.) 18 Dec 2018 08:14:53
I don't think we need anybody to be honest mate, summer will be a different story but certainly not in January.

3.) 18 Dec 2018 08:31:32
We have Phillips and Masterson for CB cover.
May as well sell them if we buy someone else in.

4.) 18 Dec 2018 08:49:16
Quite right there, have not even thought about options for January window which is quite new and weird for me.

Having said that we could do with cover at LB, perhaps a versatile player that can play lb and cb.

5.) 18 Dec 2018 09:52:35
I would move on Moreno and Lallana if good offers are received and only if they can be immediately replaced. I would normally have moved Clyne on also, but given his okay performance against ManU and the Gomez situation, I would hold on to him until the summer. I'm of two minds about an AM. We have Shaqiri who plays there. Sturridge who can also fill in. And Ox coming back towards the end of the year. So i don't think there is any urgency. Unless there is an exceptional talent out there somewhere. Then I would still go for it.

6.) 18 Dec 2018 10:12:22
Not quite sure why we don't anybody? this is probably the season to invest in and we are 21 games to the title. If it were me, i would invest in the club right now, buy an impact creative player (pulisic) a striker (if we sell all 3 we have) and a robust no nonsense defender (some one older with winning experience i guess) .
I don't want to lose our title challenge and CL challenge to injuries and injuries are beginning to creep in the squad. i'd definitely look to invest if players are available.

{Ed002's Note - And where would the money come from? And when would they get a game?}

7.) 18 Dec 2018 10:23:37
Efforts should be made to sell Moreno and Matip, they are not a reliable backup to our second choices let alone 1st choices.
One of Origi or Solanke should be loaned or sold if possible. I don't see both getting much game time.

8.) 18 Dec 2018 10:30:01
Matip has played well this season when called upon. He’s a sound 4th choice.

9.) 18 Dec 2018 10:56:32
I would try for pulisic just to make our interest official. Where the money comes from I'm not sure but that's upto the owners to find. Get in there before anyone else does. Summer is going to be manic especially as united will be after a complete new squad. As the ed said yesterday I think. . every team could do with pulisic.

10.) 18 Dec 2018 11:14:53
I don't talk about money here ed002, it just makes things complicated :) .

{Ed002's Note - So in which case it is all simply fantasy football.}

11.) 18 Dec 2018 11:27:54
Correct Sir. id love to sign players so we can win the title. Of course that might be out of bound for the club to do. Just speaking as a fan, i really feel Liverpool have a chance to win the title this season and i don't want it to fail because so and so player got injured at a critical moment of the season. But of course club cannot be run that way.
Still i'd like to see us strengthen further in January. But since there is not even any remote news of Liverpool interest in anybody, i'd give it a rest.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool as you are aware are intent on buying success but at the same time they are constrained by regulation.}

12.) 18 Dec 2018 11:52:06
There are a bunch of players we could get off our wage bill that can be easily replaced by academy players or not need replacing at all like Solanke, Lallana, Moreno, Migs, Origi, Chirivella, Markovic etc. I am sure that we can afford someone like Pulisic if we offload the aforementioned but so many changes will happen in the summer rather than January.
Regardless, I still think we need to sign a top quality wide player to compete with Salah and Mane if we are challenging for the UCL and league. The last thing we need is to have both wide players knackered like last season. City have Mahrez who can step in for Sane and Sterling and we could do with some top quality like that.

13.) 18 Dec 2018 14:50:58
No money = no honey. Fact of life. 🏆.

14.) 18 Dec 2018 18:45:28
If we somehow got decent offers for Lallana, Moreno, Solanke and Origi AND have a little something in the piggybank, Dortmund still wouldn't sell to us right now. They lead Bundesliga and for the first time in a decade or so Bayerns hegemony looks under real threat.

Would we sell Mo or Sadio to Real in january, even for £200m?

15.) 18 Dec 2018 18:47:16
@Indian Buzzer. There's no way we can let Mignolet go, unless we have a backup keeper already lined up. I shiver with the thought of Allison getting injured and having Migs in goal, but while I'd like to see one of the young keepers given a chance to shine, I'd rather they weren't thrown in at the deep end for 4-5 games or even longer. It could completely ruin their potential career.

16.) 18 Dec 2018 20:47:33
For me I’d prefer Moreno, Markovic, Mignolet, Clyne and Origi. If good offers come in for likes of Lallana or Sturridge re assess from there.

I think we could cope with what we have for remainder of season.

17.) 18 Dec 2018 20:47:33
For me I’d prefer Moreno, Markovic, Mignolet, Clyne and Origi. If good offers come in for likes of Lallana or Sturridge re assess from there.

18.) 19 Dec 2018 00:17:05
I'd just think it will be replacing who we sell, if we sell anyone who's currently being used in the squad that is.
So for example if Moreno was to go in January, we'd likely try and replace him if we can.

19.) 19 Dec 2018 07:22:40
“No money = no honey. Fact of life. ”

Unless you’re a bee keeper.

07 Aug 2018 07:30:50
Man Utd and Chelski seem in disarray, Spurs haven't strengthened. New manager for Arsenal.
Could be a great chance for us this season. Could be between us and Citeh for the title, what do you gents think?

Willo_the_wisp

{Ed025's Note - i think even a millwall fan would realize that willo..

1.) 07 Aug 2018 07:46:05
Arsenal will do well with a new manager.

2.) 07 Aug 2018 08:02:06
A few nights after the CL final, I had a dream we won the Premier league next season and I was a camera man on the pitch in front of them lifting the trophy, that'll do me. This season we'll make history I really believe we're going to do it, bring any team on.

Are you a man and do you have a camera Salah? Big questions these. but dreams do come true 😝.

4.) 07 Aug 2018 08:22:12
I don't know how I'll react if we win it. I will be so happy.

As long as we improve our position last year I'll be pleased, no satisfied. Can't believe we're believing again.

I had a dream I was drowning in orange soda. Turned out to be a Fanta sea.

Chelsea don't look in disarray to me.

They may be losing courtios but maybe not. Chelsea might put their foot down like we did with pipco. I think if they keep hazard, then they have a shout.

Jorginio. What a player! Who is their forward now? Did morata leave? Have they replaced him?

7.) 07 Aug 2018 10:39:56
I really hope you guys are right. I guess I've got too used to disappointment over the decades. I left Liverpool in 91 for Oz, we were champions at the time, and obviously haven't won it since (I blame myself) . I've brought my son up on lfc and swore to him that if we win the league we'll fly back to join in the celebrations.

8.) 07 Aug 2018 11:21:05
Morata still there but looking a bit lost still.

9.) 07 Aug 2018 11:47:33
Cheers sgred. Morata will have to do better. I don't see him as a lone striker. He would be much more successful with hazard playing just off him.

Gotta hurt that they signed big chin from arsenal when heading was supposed to be morata's game.

Sometimes it takes a while for a player to settle in, settle his family in and feel comfortable in new surroundings. Especially in the pl where a lot of defenders want to kill you. Morata could be better this year. That header last season, against someone decent. What a goal, one of the best headers I've ever seen.

All this time wasted mucking around over a couple of million. We should have moved onto another target, paid the extra for Lavia or stopped Hendo and/ or Fab leaving.
Anyone who we bring in now will have no preseason and will be at an inflated price anyway, because clubs know we are desperate.
Absolutely shambolic!

Konate has a poor injury record. Gomez is better at full back and they were wantung to offload him, which speaks volumes. Quansah is still relatively inexperienced. We've let VdB, Phillips and Matip go. So yeah every man and his dog is wrong for wanting a CB?

You only have to turn on Sky Sports to be bombarded with betting advertising. If it's not adverts, then it's on club shirts.
This exploitative industry makes a living by preying on the vulnerable/ addictive members of society. Lots of clubs are sponsored by gambling companies, but I hoped we were "bigger" than this. I know we'd previously been sponsored by Bet Victor, but you'd like to think we were socially responsible enough to buck the trend. I guess they just can't say no to money sadly.

We'll lead the pack until a December injury crises in either the CB or midfield department. We'll end up finishing 4th; behind City, Arsenal and a "surprise team".

Nice post dhfc. Util recently I was disappointed in the lack of transfer activity. But maybe we're more or less there and Slot wants to assess what we have over the coming months and bring any necessary reinforcements in January. I think the contract situation for Mo, Trent and VVD should be the priority now.

Rushie for me, as well as being an exceptional striker, he would defend from the front and would work hard to regain possession.
