I'm getting excited thinking about our mf next season and the options we could have.

Ox coming back in, Keita, Fabinho, possibility of a CAM player like Fekir, Chiverella coming up from the younger lads. Plus Hendo and Milner.

I think Gini and Lallana will look to go.

But having that depth in MF is what we have been missing for years.

Would be nice to sign a attacking player to rotate with mane or salah when needed :)

Very exciting stuff though!

Gini won’t go. I’m surprised so many don’t see what he brings to the team. He will be rotated like all the rest and will be happy with that. Lallana will go and maybe Milner. Chiravella won’t get much if a look in and may leave, if not in the summer, in January. Karius will leave.

2.) 29 May 2018 15:19:47
You guys forgot about the Big OX.

3.) 29 May 2018 15:34:52
Chiverella will need to leave, we can't buy that many players and have him play next to no games. His deserves to play first-team football somewhere and we'd just hold him back.

Milner is 30+, I'd still like him and Lallana to stay because they're still options off the bench/ rotate but if they want to leave then I'd wish them all the best.

4.) 29 May 2018 15:37:30
I expect it’ll be Fabinho and Hendo in deeper/ more defensive roles, Keita, Milner and Gini in more box to box, and then Ox and hopefully Fekir in more attacking roles and able to cover the wingers if required. Woodburn or Wilson hopefully get a shot but I don’t see a chance for Chirivella with Fabinho coming in personally.

5.) 29 May 2018 15:40:22
I am not sure if Milner would stick around to be a squad player but hopefully he does, I would rather him be back up to Robertson than Moreno. Shudder the thought of Robbo getting an injury and Moreno being our LB over a long period.

6.) 29 May 2018 15:56:53
IMO, Gini is going nowhere. Lallana? Not so sure.

7.) 29 May 2018 16:07:57
From the eyes of Lallana last March, I think he has lost his fire as a lfc players.

8.) 29 May 2018 16:47:52
Gini won't go. I do see the value in him, I think he is a fantastic player.

{Ed025's Note - your easily pleased then hendo, he had a handful of good games last season and the rest were abject at best, if i was klopp he would be the first one out the door mate..

9.) 29 May 2018 17:27:08
I like Wijnaldum too, very good squad player.
He might not make the First XI next season but he keeps the team at a consistent level when he does come in, several really valuable spells covering for injuries to Henderson, Can etc.
I really can't see Klopp selling him anytime soon.

{Ed025's Note - on the bench could be an option i suppose juicer, but not near the starting line up except for injuries..

10.) 29 May 2018 17:29:16
Really ed025? No see, I think what holds him back is psychological. It looked like he was going to take control of the Madrid game but also looked like he bottled it. I like his versatility. I can see him growing in stature as he gets older.

{Ed025's Note - what i see is a mediocre midfielder who seems to lose focus very easily mate...but maybe thats just me..

11.) 29 May 2018 17:48:43
Agree Ed - he’s not really a defensive mid, nor a regular attacking threat. What he’s best at is just getting stuck in, trying to control possession, and ticking the ball over.

While I like Gini, we need more than that to really aim for the top, and Keita is hopefully the edge we need to change the game from midfield, while Gini can add depth and cover with an experienced option off the bench.

12.) 29 May 2018 18:03:10
I think gini should stay he has had the making of a good player, somewhere in there. I'd rather lose lallana due to age, and injuries. Gini has the ability to play any role in midfield and maybe with a bit more competition might knuckle down. He doesn't seem disruptive and is seemed to be liked. I think his downfall is he is good at a lot of things but not great - a bit like Milner In a sense.

13.) 29 May 2018 19:43:08
Got to say Gini's performances towards the end of the season and champs league especially have earned him the right to stay for next season and be part of what we are building. I was at the Roma game where he came on for Ox and thought he was very good. Maybe not a starter next season depending on signings but surely he has done enough to have some gratitude and opportunity moving forward.

I like Karius, thought he had a solid season up untill last night and can feel for him. Poor mistakes to make, but any keeper or player makes mistakes.

Thing is if a Liverpool player makes a mistake, the world never forgets about it, so I literally couldn't say either way what i'd like with Karius.

He's a kid, and will be hurting a lot, so i hope he gets the support he needs. Part of me thinks, it could be better to let him go and have a clean slate somewhere else, though part of me thinks he has solid potential still and would love for him to be a fighter and turn up next season to shut up everyone.

Pretty poor taste from a lot of other bitter English fans. We got to the final and overachieved if you said at the start where we would get to.

Not sure if we have an international teams page? I looked through but couldn't see, I'm interested in everyone's thoughts on the World Cup.

Been reading a post on the BBC about Southgates problem of who he picks, highlighting one part 'Davies has deplaced Rose'. As we know ed001 i believe stated poch is freezing him out because of contract talks not actual footballing ability.

So after reading this, i thought I'd rather see what everyone's thoughts are here than carry on with that article.

I think we could field a decent team, but it's a case of will they perform and I like some players like Pope but he hasn't really played internationally before, not saying he can't do the job, maybe it will take a few games to adjust though :/

So yeah, it would be great to hear people's thought and opinions, who you'd like out there on the pitch.

alistair_lpfc1992

{Ed033's Note -

Our international football page for the World Cup.

1.) 21 Mar 2018 18:13:00
Cheers Ed033 lad!

2.) 21 Mar 2018 18:23:35
I think this England team is one of the weakest in a long time. We have a few really good players and the rest are ok. For me Southgate players the most boring football ever ( or we are just spoiled watching Liverpool 🤔) .
I do support England but it’s definitely lost is appeal over the last 8-12 years.

3.) 21 Mar 2018 19:13:06
Listen, are fans happier now, in 3rd place (having played an extra game) and in 1/ 4 finals of ucl or when rafa was winning us the champions league by beating teams 1 0 and defending for our lives? I can tell you, I have never been so happy as a fan as I was when we last won the champions league. People are slagging utd style but it's not totally dis similar to how we played in 2005. Trophies are what makes fans happy.

Now, in the world cup, if we got to the semi finals by playing defensive football no one would mind, but if we went out in the group stage or the first knock out round, playing attacking, flowing football (like we did with Hodgson) people would be angry and probably call Southgate irresponsible.

I think England have some real quality in our team. We have one of the world's best strikers in Harry kane, we have some exciting attacking mids in Ali, aoc and lallana. We have some very decent full backs in rose and walker. And we have Jordan Henderson in cm.

I think there is less ego in the dressing room than we had with rio, Terry, lampard and Gerrard etc and I think that's a good thing. One thing you can say about Southgate is, he knows how to take young teams to the very end of international tournaments and win them. I've been bored when watching England lately, especially after watching Liverpool. Its like watching coronation Street straight after watching pulp fiction but his record is pretty good so far, I am pleasantly optimistic about our chances.

4.) 21 Mar 2018 19:36:41
This doeant mean to sound rude, but does anyone really care about england? Reality is Southgate doesn't have a clue and is a yes man to the powers above him. I would be surprised if we make it through the group. For me personally I haven't watched them since we got beat by Iceland and haven't had a keen interest since 2006.

5.) 21 Mar 2018 19:59:34
Of course I care about England. Firstly, its the only team I am obliged to support as a football fan. Secondly, you can't pick and choose when to be an England fan because we're not good at a particular time. Thirdly, any tournament with us in it just adds another level of excitement. Regardless of how bad we are, there is always the thought of 'maybe we could. ' before we begin.

6.) 21 Mar 2018 20:56:39
People would “care” more if we were a better team.
I think “care” is the wrong word. I care about lots of thinks but international and even domestic football teams can look after themselves.

I’d be delighted if England were challenging but when they play such dire uninspiring football I lose all interest.

7.) 21 Mar 2018 21:02:22
Max, why the hell would there be a thread here if no one cared? And since when has being a fan of a team been dependent on that team's success? England's my team, it doesn't matter if they win or if they fail to qualify. I cannot wait till the world cup begins.

{Ed025's Note - my main problem with england is....when the squad gets together for matches or even worse friendlies the domestic football programme flies out the window, i love my bets on a saturday and its the highlight of the week for me watching stelling and the boys giving me hope that i get the better of william hill, it might be a bit selfish of me but other than putting my dosh down a grid whats a guy supposed to do.. :)

8.) 21 Mar 2018 21:24:44
Ed25, I bet once a year on the Grand National, with my personality anything more would be dangerous. I'd win once, convince myself I'm a genius and lose everything else.

{Ed025's Note - that sounds like me putney everything to excess, i smoke too much, drink too much and gamble far too much, if i was better looking i would probably be doinking everything in sight as well mate..and im a vicar.. :)

9.) 21 Mar 2018 21:41:10
I'm with Ed025 on this one, international football bores me rigid.

10.) 21 Mar 2018 22:50:03
Thats fair enough that a lot of you don't care too much for international football. England aren't usually too great and it's a joke having the world cup in Russia and Quatar, It just got me thinking about it today after reading the BBC so thought i would at least ask.

I think we have some talented players but not very experienced at the international level.

That list is top notch except for Dembele, had a poor season at Barcelona but mainly due to injury. So that's expected but honestly I'm just too 50/ 50 about him. Yes he has potential but I'm not sure about his attitude to really hack it at the top level plus when I have seen him play, I haven't seen anything special. Honestly think if we are indeed looking to spend that kind of money, it could be used on someone else, I'm not sure who off the top of my head.

Honestly I really like Karius, he has the worst luck as that will probably be the worst match he ever plays and happens to be a CL final.

Think he has potential though and i thought he was good in the prem, It hurt yes but we move on and YNWA.

If he leaves I hope its down to his own personal decision and not the club kicking him out that would be horrible.

If he stays ill be happy and has my full support, would love for him to prove all the people talking sh*t about him wrong. If he leaves i still hope he has a good career and proves people that he can be a top class Goalie!

I Like trent and Gomez. But then as trent is being played in MF.

Gomez could be CB, Rb is a position we need to look at for sure. Clyne barely looks like a footballer these days. Hopefully we recruit well in summer, let go some of the players who need to move on really. As we are now kind of down to the bare bones and the players look knackered. Improving the depth additionally while keeping the quality there would put us in a great position to compete for the prem as well as cups as well i think :)

alistair_lpfc1992

{Ed001's Note - was that 'these days' a mistake?}

I remember after the UTD game, so many pool fans, slating klopp. I'm sat here thinking there is no other manager in the world i would rather have than Klopp, he's a good fit for Liverpool, you won't win every single game you play, that's how football is. We have been playing the most amazing football this season. Even losing Couts, we just stormed on and carried on smashing teams because Klopp knows what he is doing, We could end up winning nothing which is a shame.

Has been highlighted City been given too much respect, when teams like Wigan are going at them and getting points. It's embarrassing the prem teams who don't try and get a draw or grab a 1-0. Not saying City haven't played top notch but some games teams look set up to just conceded a 1-0 sort of result.

I think we have been going strength to strength and after losing to the mancs we came back against watford and bashed them 5-0, they didn't play well and made it easier for us than it should have been i think, but a top response from the boys.

I think next season will be a little bit closer at the top and hopefully with Kieta and the a few other additions in summer we will be able to properly challenge! I can't see us selling Salah, considering couts went in Jan, you won't win anything selling your best players each window. Definitely going to have interest from the big foreign teams but I think we can keep him!

I would love Fekir but if it was the injury which put us off fair enough. If we tried to get a discount after the medical and Lyon weren't happy then nothing we can do.

It's a long summer, I don't think it's quite as simple as we want him, no it's off. If we hold serious interest we might have a surprise at the end of summer. If not we might sigh someone else who turns out to be very good.

Thanks for the Ed's input, 002 must be pulling his hair out at some of the questions though.

It's already been super exciting so hopefully a few nice surprises a long the way.

Top post MK.

I felt it more yesterday than on the Saturday.

Mane, Robbo, Lovren all put their heart and soul into the game. Hope Karius will be okay though. Might be good to bring someone in to deflect the pressure, but I'm always behind players who want to stay and prove they are the best player in that position at the club. I think Salah going off had 2 massive effects, firstly shocked our players a bit, him going off isn't an excuse to lose the game, but you could see psychologically it had a bit of an effect, secondly Marcelo probably laughed a little inside with Lallana coming on due to the fact he's not the same danger as salah so he knew he could get more up the pitch without worrying as much and just got Madrid back into a game which was all Liverpool up until then.

Was a very good goal off Bale, reckon it will be goal of the season, unless someone does something similar in the world cup final to win it.

Overall i felt a massive improvement this season to last, If we recruit well in the summer. Very exciting season going forward :)

YNWA.

Yeah i have wondered a little bit about the coaching. I know Minners is know degea, but I don't remember him being as poor at Sunderland as he has been for us :c.

Can't really say anything on the matter though as i have no idea what goes on with gk training and coaching but you do wonder sometimes, if something could be changed?
