people from liverpool and those who support liverpool have restored my faith in humanity thanks to the previous post who checked up and proved i was correct i was an average player who played football whilst in the army and as the unit i was in was so small took up the badge to officiate and never looked back it was a tattoo on my thigh of the liverpool badge which upsets a few up here in scotland but that's their problem not mine i just want to referee an amateur match down in liverpool before i hang up my whistle as my instructor was a scouser anyone able to assist with this please?

people can disagree its their right to but if they read the laws of the game they will see my previous posts were correct surely a local official could have told them that.

1.) 16 Feb 2016 22:05:13
Quote these laws then and people will find that easier to accept than the word of a local official.

As far as I'm aware, in a shoot out, once the forward momentum of the ball ceases the ball is dead.

Happy to be proved wrong if you can link or quote the law.

2.) 16 Feb 2016 22:35:14
Ok I stand corrected, I've looked it up and the laws did indeed change after the rules were thought to be against the spirit of the game.
So now :
"however many combinations of goalpost, crossbar, goalkeeper's body parts etc. are involved, if the ball ends up in the goal because of the energy imparted onto it by the kicker's boot, a goal should be allowed. "

Well done hunter 😉.

unfortunately knew answer to this. Our under 12s were playing higher division side and went to pens, our keeper touched sudden death kick onto post, came back and hit him and went in.
goal awarded, myself and coaches asked what the hell was going on only for official to point out change made.

apologized to him, congratulated opponents and talked our lads through what happened.

makes sense, it's a goal in normal time so why not in a shoot-out?

good knowledge Hunter.

4.) 17 Feb 2016 13:46:36
how the hell does anyone disagree with my post?

5.) 17 Feb 2016 15:46:43
One thing I've learned about those agree/ disagree buttons is they make zero sense.
Even facts are disagreed with, I think some do it for a laugh and possibly the smart phones touch screens can be responsible.

a forgot to mention earlier when it comes to penalty shootouts if the ball hits the post then say the keeper then ends up in the back of the net then a goal would be awarded.

hunter9635

1.) 16 Feb 2016 20:05:38
Obviously?

2.) 16 Feb 2016 20:25:00
Unless the rules have been altered, during a penalty shoot out the ball must continue forward momentum at all times. Therefore if the ball hit a post came backward onto the keeper then into the goal. The penalty should be counted as a miss.
There was a famous incident in 1986 world cup I think, where a Brazilian hit the post then the keeper then it went in. The ref wrongly awarded the 'goal' to stand.

3.) 16 Feb 2016 20:27:46
Actually a goal should NOT be awarded but there was a famous case in a World Cup QF France vs Brazil.

It hit the post, bounced back off the keeper and in. Strictly speaking once it hits the post and comes out the ball should be dead.

4.) 16 Feb 2016 21:59:08
That's in a penalty shootout though. In a game situation it would still be a goal right?

5.) 16 Feb 2016 23:01:20
Tjred did you really need to ask that?

6.) 17 Feb 2016 00:46:03
It looks like it doesn't it Chris?

16 Feb 2016 19:46:39
in answer to an earlier post no player can touch a ball twice at the taking of a penalty if so then an indire t free kick awarded to the opposition is the result check the laws of the game plus the fact i'm also a qualified referee and have been for 25 years now its good fun so it is.

everybody is talking about strikers and the need to score more goals let's start to build from the back to the front we need a commanding keeper a solid hard as nails centre half and a midfielder who is not afraid to get stuck in. incidently when defending corners and set pieces whh take defenders off the posts its like amateurish defending.

Migs has signed a 5 year deal. We should jiya move on from the fantasy of signing another keeper.

2.) 22 Jan 2016 14:09:08
I believe this is just to retain some of Mignolets value yes we need a better Goalkeeper but his stats speak for themselves top 3 clean sheets or something like that extending his contract make is seem like we are keeping him someone will buy him in the summer and we can move forward with Danny Ward and a New GK.

3.) 22 Jan 2016 14:32:45
Extending his contract was a poor decision by the club and manager. It's just that people doesn't want to believe as the manger is Klopp and not Brendan.
