I don't get the desire for Lavia, he isn't aggressive enough, he is poor in the air and he is a poor tackler. All key traits required in a DM.
I won't mention his shooting.

He is athletic and quick. Key ingredient I want to see in our DM. He is a strong tackler. Not sure what match you watched where he came across as a weak tackler. I would say it's very much a strength. Fair enough on the heading. I would say he is ok in this area but he is not tall so I give you that side. Some positional work needed granted but I have no fear that he will improve that trait with experience. Excellent vision and strong passer. I think he is an excellent talent and I'd personally be comfortable throwing him in right away and learn on the job. As I would with Bajcetic.
I would not be up for that usually. It almost sounds like madness when I say it. But I genuinely believe both are just that good that they ll do great.

Fly - the plan would be for him Thuram up and down the pitch and Thuram in to their players and finally Thuram it in to the back of the net.

Agree with FlyPelicanFly. I see starters in Mcallister and Szobo. So that leaves one other midfield space to be thought between Elliot, Jones, Bajectic, Thiago and say one more midfielder whether that be Lavia or Thuram. This is also presuming Trent won't start any games in midfield.
I think Lavia and Llorente makes sense. As Lavia seems to have plenty of potential. He will push Bajectic, Llorente can cover multiple positions well.

Genuinely interested, if there are any defensive midfielders we can collectively agree would be good signings.

Let’s not forget that Klopp can improve players. He has a track record for creating great players for us from good players (eg Robertson, Salah, Mane, Firmino, Wijnaldum, etc)

Dave there is a huge difference between a Strong tackler and a goo tackler. I've seen him diving in with strong tackles but that should be as a last resort. I've seen him follow an opponent half way up the pitch to get a tackle in, that's not what is needed from a good DM.

I think I’d go with Llorente rather than Lavia - we have a better prospect than Lavia in Baj. Llorente gives us more cover than Lavia, but on the downside comes with a record of injuries. I’d also go with Thuram as a CM with potential.

@Polecat, Lavia not aggressive enough, well if you ask the Southampton fans they’ll tell you the whole squad was passive last season.
Lavia was the only player the Southampton fans said was a lvl above the squad.

I think I see that more of positional thing polecat. There is a bit of danger awareness to it but much of it will also be tactical. I don't think he goes to ground in the tackle overly much either.
But let's see.
And Ron, I love Baj. But we need a squad here. Lavia is a great option in my opinion.

For me too, Bajcetic is better than Lavia. But, I would still go out and get Lavia. Because it's very much possible to play both (at the same time) with Bajcetic being the more advanced player. I don't think Klopp would mind having this option to use against certain teams or in case of injuries. Have both of them compete against each other; it can't be a bad thing. Guardiola does it with Mahrez and Bernardo Silva, and look at what results it gives him.
Bring in Lavia for Fabinho and Thuram for Henderson (if his departure is confirmed) . I'm not sure if Thiago needs to be replaced if he leaves also; Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Thuram, Lavia, Bajcetic, Elliott, Jones and TAA. If that's not a killer midfield (on paper at least) then I don't know what is.

I think it's pretty obvious that we've got a real player on our hands in Bajcetic, but I wonder if his natural progression is to be more of an 8 than a 6?
I can't see that - in an ideal world - we'd want to have him starting consecutive games like last season and probably prefer to give him a fair bit of rotation.
Out of the options listed, I'd probably go with Llorente and Thuram. I wonder if Thuram could be moulded into a true DM?
