Now super league is dead and buried, now reports of a british league being considered with rangers and celtic included didn't ever see it happening but would it be good idea.

It’s just one bad idea after another.

2.) 22 Apr 2021 12:47:21
dead and buried! - i can hear the americans now on the urgent teams meeting they probably called Tuesday night - guys guys guys. the fans have gone mental we'd better retract asap and we'll put out whatever apology we need to. but. let's get together and refine our plans. make sure there is bit more opportunity for some of the smaller teams to get in occassionally and then we'll push it out again when the time is right. In the meantime, can you all sort out the following at good prices to appease the mamagers and the fans - salah Lpool to Madrid, Mbappe PSG to Lpool etc etc that will get them off our backs for a while!

3.) 22 Apr 2021 13:29:50
Actually think this would be better for everyone. Be more competitive for the English teams and would give other Scottish teams a chance of actually doing something. Swansea and Cardiff got the green light, no reason why Rangers and Celtic shouldn’t.

4.) 22 Apr 2021 15:30:33
I always wondered if Celtic and rangers could survive in the prem. but I still don’t support the idea.

5.) 22 Apr 2021 15:57:49
what is the history of Swansea and Cardiff playing in England? sorry for being lazy and I know I could google this lol. - but do other Welsh teams play in England or just those two? And if just those two, what has happened to the other welsh teams. has there been a benefit for them?

6.) 22 Apr 2021 16:17:27
Mikey, give celtic and the rangers 5 years of premier league money and they will more than just survive mate.

{Ed0666's Note - personally I’d love to see the Scottish clubs involved in a British league

7.) 22 Apr 2021 17:44:58
I'm not sure the SPFL and the SFA would see it that way.

8.) 22 Apr 2021 18:02:58
But won't it ruin the Scottish league. Without the big 2, the other teams would suffer.

9.) 22 Apr 2021 18:13:36
I don't want the scots anywhere near our league thanks.

10.) 22 Apr 2021 22:33:16
Ed0666 - involved in a British league I agree with, Celtic and Rangers would probably be great in league 2 :)

{Ed0666's Note - if Celtic and rangers were involved in a British premier league I’m sure there would be lots of interest in buying them thus making them stronger fiscally and they would compete and be successful.

11.) 23 Apr 2021 14:58:58
what is the benefit of celtic and rangers playing in the prem? what happens to scottish football? would the remaining clubs maybe get some money from celtic and rangers for leaving?

{Ed0666's Note - it gives 2 clubs the opportunity to get into the Scottish top flight

12.) 23 Apr 2021 20:12:23
Interesting really, if Celtic and Rangers weren't in the league it would give other teams the chance to win leagues and cups.

Massive drop in money from attendances when the Old Firm come to town 3 or 4 times a season and TV interest would drop.
Less money, lower wages, lower standard? Balance that with winning competitions.

If the six clubs had left would Everton fans be pleased with the greater chance to win or annoyed that the standard would drop?

13.) 24 Apr 2021 13:36:02
Rangers and Celtic leaving would destroy Scottish football, sadly. Any money in the Scottish game is there because of the marketability of the old firm. Take them out, and it would eventually become equivalent of the Irish leagues. I wouldn't care, as I only support my home team because its my home team, but I wouldn't be surprised if teams folded without the old firm. As for the old firm, if they survived the first couple of years in the prem, you'd then be looking at a "big 8" instead of the big 6,such is the fan base and stadium size of the Glasgow teams.

14.) 25 Apr 2021 00:15:05
is there a point in a scottish top flight if the two biggest clubs don't play there?

{Ed0666's Note - of course because there will be opportunity for other Scottish clubs to be big

15.) 25 Apr 2021 09:50:14
Having grown up in Scotland losing the 2 big clubs would kill the games there, both are Glasgow clubs but are supported by fans, mainly along sectarian lines, throughout Scotland. My local team Dunfermline struggle to attract a full crowd even when playing in the top flight, but buses were leaving our small village every week to go to watch rangers and Celtic, this won’t change regardless of what league they are in, remember back to when Gretna Built a team and done well for a couple of seasons built a new stadium for 6000 fans, the town only had 6000 residents.

16.) 25 Apr 2021 20:25:51
The Old firm already can play against English clubs provided they qualify for Europe.

17.) 25 Apr 2021 14:56:28
Really doubt see that happening triple6.

{Ed0666's Note - ok mate

Rangers fan here but Liverpool my English team just a wee favour when you play rangers in a few weeks anychance you could try and keep the score down to say 4 or 5 cheers.

me2

1.) 08 Sep 2022 10:32:31
Atm it could be 4 or 5 to you lol.

2.) 08 Sep 2022 10:33:36
5 for us or 5 for you?

3.) 08 Sep 2022 11:16:32
Is that so you win 6-4 or 6-5, me2?

4.) 08 Sep 2022 14:04:06
Our lot couldn't score in a brothel need to get into opposing team box for a start.

No football related thinking if moving to Liverpool just want a unbiased opinion is it good place to live coming down from glasgow.

me2

{Ed002's Note - Wow, thinking of moving to the grim, wet and cobbled streets of the Northwest of England where there would be a significant cultural change, smog, dead & dying pit ponies laying on the street and only chips and fried curry to eat.}

1.) 03 Sep 2018 12:39:56
Bad idea then think my mrs only wants to move because she wants a scouse accent.

{Ed002's Note - My god, taht must be a first.}

2.) 03 Sep 2018 12:51:41
Like with all places, it's good for some and bad for others. Visit the city, see a few different areas and have a look at the sort of jobs being looked at in the city. That'll help you get some grip on whether it'll be good for you.

3.) 03 Sep 2018 13:01:56
Stay up in Glasgow lad!

Some great places outside the city to live (Loch Lomond to name a few) .

Plus there is a great country music festival happening only a wee stones throw away (1 hour drive + a small ferry) from Glasgow this weekend on the island of Millport - what more could a man wish for (if country music is your thing) .

Red Sandman.

4.) 03 Sep 2018 12:49:10
Ed002,

That's a bit harsh on Glasgow ;)

5.) 03 Sep 2018 13:51:38
You know what mate Liverpool is a great place to live, I've been here for 4 years now and am happy to call it home.

I've lived in London and Northampton before coming here but neither had that feeling of home to me.

I am Irish though and a life long LFC fan so that may explain that.

6.) 03 Sep 2018 14:06:53
Don't think fried curry is going to put a Glaswegian off Ed 002 considering what they fry in the chippies!

Come down mate, you'll love it. There's a strong affinity with our Glaswegian brethren so you'll feel well at home.

Pit ponies have all been transferred to Manchester, they pass it off as the tram service.

7.) 03 Sep 2018 14:17:12
Home is wherever you make it mate. I moved from Glasgow to inverness 5 years ago and i don't regret it cuz my family are better off up here. Best to move for a reason though, gives you something to hold on to when things don't go well.

8.) 03 Sep 2018 14:46:31
I do like the scouse accent on a gal, to be honest.

9.) 03 Sep 2018 15:21:49
A Glaswegian accent with a scouse twang, that would be something to behold, will never get a job at a callcentre though. Lol.

10.) 03 Sep 2018 16:00:40
Great place to live. If you avoid Bootle.

{Ed001's Note - Bootle will be far too refined and posh for a weegie.}

11.) 03 Sep 2018 16:11:22
Another alternative to chips and fried curry is to fry the dead pit ponies which line the street.
Scouse upcycling 👍.
