A quick thanks to the Ed's for the info and insight to all things liverpool.

A few rumours surrounding exits of several players seem to be doing the rounds. I'm sure some of it is bs but some seem to add up.

The obvs end of contract, Millie, Ox, firmino and waste of talent kieta

But also, Fabinho, Gomez
Matip have come up.

Ed's do you think liverpool are in for a pretty serious overhaul this summer?

I suppose when you add to those list players in their twilight, hendo Thiago an vvd we could be in for a pretty tumultuous ride!
Your thoughts would be great to read.

Many thanks.

redman84

{Ed002's Note - I can certainly see Fabinho going as evidenced by the interest in Nunes. The club have let contracts run down for Milner, Oxlade Camberlin and Firmino. For me it is the Firmino role that most likely needs a recruit of note whilst interest remains in Bellingham. Liverpool have scouted a really good player to replace Firmino but have not declared interest with his club whilst other clubs are beginning to fight over him. They have youngsters who may be ready to make their mark. It is going to be intriguing.}

1.) 24 Feb 2023 21:50:25
Who would they like to replace firmino?

{Ed002's Note - He is out of contract in the summer.}

2.) 24 Feb 2023 21:59:28
Oh you naughty man/ woman, Ed.

3.) 24 Feb 2023 22:03:59
Maybe I’m the only one not being able to put two and two together, but who is the player Liverpool have scouted to replace Firmino?
Maybe I have missed something you have mentioned earlier, but I cannot seem to find it. Sorry if I’m just missing something obvious.

Thank you for all the knowledge you share with us!

{Ed002's Note - Jesper Lindstrom (AM/RW/F).}

4.) 24 Feb 2023 22:36:13
I beg of you oh great Ed, who is the possible Firmino replacement we have scouted?

{Ed002's Note - Jesper Lindstrom (AM/RW/F).}

5.) 24 Feb 2023 23:10:44
Who is the player we have interest in ed 002? - to replace Bobby …

Cheers
Drogie.

{Ed002's Note - Jesper Lindstrom (AM/RW/F).}

6.) 24 Feb 2023 23:12:21
I don’t see Nunes as even a remotely adequate replacement for Fabinho, he’s about as much a defensive midfielder as Thiago is. Once again we’re heading for another failed window.

{Ed002's Note - You need to get the Klopp Out deal going again.}

7.) 24 Feb 2023 23:13:22
My guess would be Kamada or Thuram?

8.) 24 Feb 2023 23:16:46
Mattheus Nunes Ed? Is he a DM? Any clubs interested in Fabinho?

{Ed002's Note - Nunes is versatile and would be a decent solution, but there are folks spewing hate again.}

9.) 25 Feb 2023 01:06:09
Old Dirt McGirt is VVVV, spewing hate is what he does.

10.) 25 Feb 2023 01:56:19
Ah so Old Dirt is VVVV is he? Now it makes sense. I thought there was 2 posters who I would have to scroll past as soon as I saw their name.

11.) 25 Feb 2023 08:12:30
Surely people can’t be complaining about which midfielders are coming in. Let Klopp bring in the guys he wants and have some trust in him. Slating players who haven’t even signed is baffling.

I’m happy whoever he brings in as we desperately need a revamp in the middle which this season has sadly shown.

12.) 25 Feb 2023 08:50:42
They can complain Jones red

Just like when they were spewing about signing Hendo or an unknown from the Bundesliga (Firmino)

13.) 25 Feb 2023 09:07:55
Nunes and Lindstrom would both be very good signings in my opinion. Would also like to add at least 1 centre back though.

14.) 25 Feb 2023 10:28:26
Nunes, Bellingham, Gvardiol and Lindstrom would be a dream summer window. Time to look for the spare change down the back of the sofa everyone!

15.) 25 Feb 2023 11:17:59
Gordy, i'd get emotional if that happened haha.

16.) 25 Feb 2023 11:28:40
Loving them picks Gordy, but where will we get the money to pay for them?

17.) 25 Feb 2023 10:51:06
Gordy had you even heard Of Lindstrom before Ed mentioned him? How can you call his signing part of a dream summer if not….

18.) 25 Feb 2023 11:28:40
Loving them picks Gordy, but where will we get the money to pay for them?

19.) 25 Feb 2023 12:16:21
Matheus Nunes would be more of a left sided no8 - ie where we often play Thiago, Curtis and sometimes Keita. He’s excellent at receiving the ball deep and carrying it 30 yards into the heart of the opposition, gliding past people. Basically what we expected of Keita.

He can probably do a job in other positions but not that would be a strategic solution to replace Fabinho.

My picks for replacing Fabinho would be Ugarte, Luis or Lavia - in that order.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool have no interest in those players.}

20.) 25 Feb 2023 12:31:45
There’s always time, Ed :)

21.) 25 Feb 2023 13:00:04
Joshkel, not being funny mate but I'm more shocked you think he's not well known. He's one of the stars of the Frankfurt team that literally won the Europa League last season. Surely you watched the Rangers game if nothing else? He also tore Barcelona apart in the Quarter finals.

I have been following Frankfurt the last year though as I think Oliver Glasner is one of the best options to replace Klopp when he eventually leaves. Glasner and also Thomas Frank are the main managers to catch my eye in recent years. If Klopp quit in the summer they'd be top of my list as we won't get Spaletti or Ancelotti out of their jobs (also they're a bit old for a long term rebuild) .

22.) 25 Feb 2023 17:14:20
Hi eds, i disagree there is need to replace Firmino role. Gakpo is replacement.

23.) 26 Feb 2023 07:59:00
Hi all,

Never seen Lindstrom play, but agree with many that Bobby needs to be replaced. I have read Arsenal have an interest in him, so maybe a battle if we do go for him.

I would be very happy if we got Nunes, really rate him highly from what I have seen and his versatility is needed in our team.

I am not going to play FM or hex anything, all I would like is to see our Midfield and defence improved and another forward - a bit obvious - but agree with most on this. I think our owners will put their hands in their pockets as we will be letting a few players go in the summer.

Question for Ed's 1. Has Klopp got a headache over the centre defence? Matip has been class. Does Gomez go straight back in? How will Klopp keep Matip happy if he s played so well but returns to the bench?

What's your take on it folks?

redman84

{Ed001's Note - it is not a headache, it is a great problem to have.}

1.) 06 Aug 2019 13:51:32
Tough one redman84. The key to keeping them happy will be rotating appropriately and making use of the fact that Gomez can cover right back.

As to who starts I honestly have no idea. At his best Gomez is clearly the better defender so I'd be inclined to start him in order help rebuild his understanding with Van Dijk, but its difficult to look past Matip's form.

2.) 06 Aug 2019 14:16:47
I agree with Ed001.

It’s a great problem to have, there are so many games, we need quality in the rotation strategy.

I think it’s brilliant.

3.) 06 Aug 2019 14:26:57
I think I’m with you eamonsf! Defensive partnerships need to be consistent to be at there best. I suppose it just shows how cruel the game can be sometimes for players in Matip’s situation. Plays out of his skin, does a great job but it still won’t be enough : (.

4.) 06 Aug 2019 14:53:52
Gomez is the way to go as his recovery speed is top notch. He and VVD are the dream centre back pair.

Wouldn’t swap that pairing for anyone else in Europe.

5.) 06 Aug 2019 14:54:49
Imagine if Klopp signed Pepe and had to keep him happy with Salah, Firmino and Mane already nailed down in the 1st team.

Now that would be one hell of a constant headache which Pepe probably would not have been keen on or otherwise just leave Salah on the bench, let Pepe take his place.

Pretty much the same situation with Matip and Gomez.

6.) 06 Aug 2019 15:36:34
There will be plenty games for both. Although we don't like it Gomez will also play games at rb so both could well play together.

7.) 06 Aug 2019 15:43:00
Little bit different Maxlfc, as Pepe would likely have only arrived based on the expectation that he'd be a guaranteed starter. Meanwhile Matip came in as a starter and then found himself way down the pecking order as others progressed or arrived. He then got lucky with injuries and made the most of the opportunity (fair play to the lad) .

But hypothetically if the Pepe transfer had happened, yes mate that would have been another great headache (assuming no one acted up in response) .

8.) 06 Aug 2019 15:47:09
Matip starts for me. Deservedly so too. Gomez will have be content with sub and cup games and to wait like matip did.

9.) 06 Aug 2019 16:40:38
Gomez for me, he's got pace and reads the game well, Matip still makes me nervous.

10.) 06 Aug 2019 20:03:00
taao1 if Matip still makes you nervous then that is soley down to you cos for the majority of the LFC fans, he has been immense for the past 3 months and has not lost a step judging by the solid perf. he had last Sunday vs City.
As for who starts, of course it is a good problem to have. I mean how many clubs do you know that have three elite CB and one very good one in Lovs, to pick from. Some clubs can't even get two good ones to play together.

Look at City for example. People say they have a tonne of depth. Not at CB they don't. Laporte is a top talent. After that, Stones and Otamendi are complete disasters waiting to happen and they had better hope Laporte can play all season and not get injured (which he is now) cos they will struggle mightily if those two clowns have to go through majority of the season.

11.) 06 Aug 2019 22:58:45
Well said RedWolf, City's lack of cover at Centreback is rarely talked about. Never mind the fact the fact that Mendy is never fit and Zinchenko is awful (Not in general, just out of position at left back) .

Morning gents. My thoughts are that this year we will see a bit more squad rotation this season to help us maintain out high tempo. Seems Klopp has cover lots of positions to facilitate this.

Firstly wishing all the Ed's a happy crimbo and a good new year.

Second- for posters who haven't been on the site for long. It's taken me about 2years if reding this site to get to grips with the workings of football clubs be it transfers, scouting or the money side of the game. I've learnt shed loads from the Ed's by just reading.

The first few posts of mine were foot care as every time a new headline came in the press I'd be straight on asking. Now I just take em with a pinch of salt and wait for the info from the Ed's. The best posts for me are genuine quests abou the club and players as the Ed's seem to be more than happy to give the full low down on their knowledge which is most of the time amazing.

I really think Klopp is building quite a team an I'm pretty excited about the football we are playing now and the next few years for Liverpool. We are on the up an but by bit all the bad bits in the club are being put right.

Merry Christmas and a happy new year everyone.

Ed002 is the oracle 🙌 can I ask what your thoughts are on Diaz as a player?

Thanks for all the time you put in.

redman84

{Ed002's Note - Diaz is very well liked as a player but may not be able to immediately adapt - and I am not sure how good his English is. I am sure that eventually it should work out but there is a huge cultural shock coming for the player taking him out of his comfort zone of sunny Portugal with the wonderful seafood and the beautiful girls laughing to move to the grim, wet and cobbled streets Northwest of England where there would be a significant cultural change, overweight tattooed women pushing wheelchairs with kids who look like their brothers, smog, dead & dying pit ponies laying on the street, and only chips and fried curry to eat.}

It does kind of make sense to try and sign a mature player. I think it’s important to add that 28 year old is not past it and worthy of a contact.

We did this Thiago. Sadly it hasn’t worked out that well but it shows that the transfers seem to be a mixture of youth and experience.

It’s logical that the club brings in some slightly older players going forward as the team will loose several senior players due to age and that the majority some will be replaced with likes of Gordon, Elliot. With jones already starting to cement a slot.
There is a need to ensure that there remains some experience running through the team. Someone like dyabala makes sense to me. Wether it’s going to happen is another matter 🤣.

I don’t understand how anyone can be critical of that performance. 3 games I’m playing like that was fantastic! I was utterly chuffed and enjoyed a great game of football. Of course there are always details to pick over but we were bloody brilliant . Come on you red men!

He’s a liverpool player who represents the club. Maybe afford him and the manager and the club a little respect! Fans? You give us a bad name. Sometimes things don’t work out as we all hope they would. That doesn’t mean you should turn into an arsehole because it’s hasn’t gone to plan. Fan = supported not some childish boo boy who knows f all about f all.

Endo is a safe choice, which at the moment is great news considering what we’ve lost. He ll be solid which is exactly what we need. If we sign him and amrabat aswell I’ll be chuffed. Cracking player. All in all that’s a good outcome after the mess over lavia and ciacedo.

As annoying as the the last few weeks have been some of you need to pull yourselves together. We are one or two players from an OUTSTANDING squad and first eleven. Give your heads a wobble we’re in a great position.
Yes we have been pants at the last two transfer deals but for the love of the baby Jesus and the little donkey we’re all good ?.

Might get shot down for this but for me liverpool is becoming about Trent. Whilst he is a good footballer he should not be built upon for the sake of other good players and success.
Mango is pointed out that this doesn’t suit robbo. It certainly doesn’t suit any of the centre backs. It is also not effective tactically to have him roaming around because he can ping a ball. The cost outweighs the outcome by a million miles. Come on klopp gove your head a wobble and play to the teams strengths not one individual ?.

I think it’s a sign of how poor squad management has been I’ve the last few years. Kloppites did say he wanted to build again before he goes. This is it. Wish hendo all the best he has been fantastic.
