supermario

{Ed002's Note - No.}

There is every chance United could turn this around but as I write their on 80 mins played they are losing 1-0.

When we thought top 4 was off when we lost to them, it really wasn't. We should of knuckled down and got on with because they are poor. It's just that we are a bit poorer lol

It just shows that Brendan doesn't have the right mentality to be Liverpool manager.

2.) 02 May 2015 19:37:56
It is never going to happen but stranger things have happened. Say we got a draw at Chelsea and win the other two United have two tricky aways and Home to Arsenal.

I know it is fantasy but.

3.) 02 May 2015 20:45:51
United may struggle against palace if palace just copy the formula and defend deep and counter. Arsenal and hull will be totally different as arsenal will not just defend and hull will most probably need a win too. Teams that actually try to play against us suit us, hence we easily picked you off home and away. It's the teams that play deep and leave no space get results against us because we are incapable of changing from out 1 tactic and are so predictable. Chelsa may do u a favour as they would have won the league and who would they rather have in the champs league. United who will then spend and attract top players or you lot who will be no threat whatsoever. I'm more worried about Spurs than u lot to be fair

Why do I have a horrible feeling that Bodgers will be here still next season?

supermario

1.) 29 Apr 2015 09:31:57
I hate to put the focus on the owners, but it will be firmly on them this summer once again. They have tried to make this club successful, but under FSG, LFC have had a 1. A tried and tested manager who knows the English league well and only needed an opportunity at a bigger club to show his credentials - Roy Hodgson, 2. A manager who the fans craved - Kenny Dalglish, and a 3. A young un-proven manager with a 180 page dossier who only wanted a big team, time and money to show what he can do. And all 3 has failed. Now, they can chose to keep Rodgers or chose to bring in someone who is the best fit for the club. If bring in a new manager, they hopefully consider the past failures under their own term and realize there is no substitute for pedigree, experience and quality.

2.) 29 Apr 2015 09:43:34
I agree with you supermario

I think the owners will not be able to get the manager they want and just stick with Rodgers.

I know it will cost to get rid of Rodgers but the money he has lost us this season through not getting CL football and also the money he will lose again next season if he stays is peanuts compared to getting rid.

This is his squad and were just toothless going forward and players just looking lost out of position

3.) 29 Apr 2015 09:52:23
i have a horribler feeling that BR will stay along with johnson allen balotelli lambert skrtel & borini.

Just been thinking on the transfer committee front. If it's just aload of Rodgers sat there then there isn't much point is there? For me you need one guy running transfers, then you know who to boot put the door when it goes wrong.

supermario

1.) 27 Apr 2015 13:57:01
Exactly! The committee was a calamity and should be scrapped. However as the Eds have said, Rodgers is part of said committee and he has the power to stop transfers he does not want hence, the idea and excuse people give that the committee dictates to him who comes in, is ludicrous and unfounded. Then, again I don't blame them for that because he never takes responsibility for anything so I can see why they might think he has no control.

2.) 27 Apr 2015 14:26:52
The committee was supposed to filter out the crap signings from the good ones.
Has it worked?
No.
Who is responsible.
FSG and Rodgers collectively in my opinion.

3.) 27 Apr 2015 15:19:41
Jonny

At the end of the day, our committee had a shortlist containing the likes of Costa, Mkhitaryan, Willian, Sanchez, Remy, Bertrand, Huntelaar etc etc. Just saying so it is not like they were not scouting players that bwere wanted by other clubs.

At the end of the day, Rodgers had the last say and could have said yes to Remy instead of Balotelli. How on earth can FSG be held accountable for decisions on transfers?

They can be held accountable for appointing Rodgers but not the decisions Rodgers has made and is exactly why FSG will be sacking Rodgers. At least FSG will be learning from their mistakes by getting rid of Rodgers. If they keep him as manager then yes, they need to be hold accountable for not trying to fic a failed plan.

4.) 27 Apr 2015 18:53:33
Max I see your point.
Unfortunately we are not party to why we bought the players we did.
Balotelli was always going to be a gamble given his attitude.
That gamble did not work.
His transfer smacked of the moneyball philosphy in my opinion.

{Ed001's Note - how on earth is it anything to do with moneyball? That makes no sense.}

5.) 27 Apr 2015 20:33:31
You failed again, Johnny. The owners don't pick the players and based on the Eds info (if you have better, more accurate info on this issue, please share. If not, keep it moving), he signs off on any signings and he said himself, "no player will come in here that the manager doesn't want". He said that in May. If all you have are opinions, save them. If you have facts to debunk those I posted, I'm listening.

6.) 27 Apr 2015 21:17:55
We should have taken into account more than just the player's stats.
Looking at Balotelli from a stats point of view he is not a bad signing for the price we purchased him for.
But we all know that there is so much baggage to consider other than the player's ability.
That is the point I was making in reference to Moneyball.
You don't just look at a player's price to stats ratio.
There are many more things to consider.
Why have I failed again Red?
In your world the owners don't do much.
Which begs the question "why spend so much money on buying the club in the first place if they are not going to make sure that every decision made is scrutinized from the very top down?

7.) 27 Apr 2015 21:54:08
Also Red.
.....................We are pretty much done with you. I put a lot of effort in to get some cocksucker like you constantly abuse me and bleat - take a break.}

8.) 27 Apr 2015 23:09:40
I agree the Mario signing seemed like a moneyball signing to me too. I don't agree that every decision should be examined either. we already seem to drag our feet when trying to sign players!

Do manager costs, wages, paying off other managers clubs and compensation for sacked managers count towards ffp Edds?

Surely this will massively hinder our search for. Different manager if that's whatbthe club deem appropriate? Not going to leave much in the kitty for the new man?

supermario

{Ed002's Note - Of course they count.}

1.) 05 Apr 2015 20:20:47
I wasn't sure, bit harsh I think.

{Ed002's Note - Sorry but just to be clear, everything counts except:
Excluded Expenses
(1) Depreciation of tangible fixed assets. Example: The loss, if any, in value of the stadium, cars, IT equipment etc..
(2) Costs associated with the intangible fixed assets (other than player registrations). Example: goodwill, franchises, trademarks, copyrights etc..
(3) Expenditure on youth development activities. Example: All youth development expenses (housing, schooling, travel, medical etc.) are excluded from the calculations.
(4) Community development activities. Example: Outreach programmes, donations to the local community and charities, provision of equipment etc..
(5) Tax expenses. Example: Monies paid to the Inland Revenue, VAT etc..
(6) Finance costs related to construction of tangible fixed assets. Example: The interest on the £150M or whatever loan to update the stadium.
(7) Interest payments on old loans (pre June 1, 2011). Example: Any interest due on a loan taken out for whatever purpose before June 1, 2011 is excluded from the calculations.
(8) Certain expenses from non-football operations. Example: This does not really apply to British clubs, but in other European countries clubs are often “sporting clubs” and have basketball, football, hockey team etc. all under one business.}

2.) 05 Apr 2015 20:51:55
