A good friend of mine is a lawyer in the city who works in the media side of things (litigation) and he has told me that LFC are going to appoint Christian Purslow as replacement for Michael Edwards this summer. He has some contacts in the North West.

He also said there will also be a new DoF coming in to oversee transfers, negotiate player contracts and on the pitch matters. Guessing this is a replacement for Richard Hughes?

I am also guessing that Purslow's appointment would be to work directly under Billy Hogan and to maximise the club commercial revenue first and foremost and general day to day running while Billy Hogan's role will eventually encompass FSG's global businesses.

Just passing on what I have been told.

Maybe brought in to maximise the value of the asset before a sale.

Thanks, I think your friend is pulling your leg, but who knows.

He should have no control over football matters. Remember, he appointed Hodgson.

Thanks for that SMB.

I can't think whether Purslow would be a good or bad appointment?

Ed001, what's your view?

Anyone else?

{Ed001's Note - he was not well liked but I can't really remember him off the top of my head other than that.}

The final push before we are bought out by some people richer than FSG and become a faceless entity.

I can't remember exactly how it worked, but I think he and Martin Broughton were enforced on Hicks and Gillette by RBS to safeguard the £350 million loan the US twits had taken out.

He's really a finance guy. Seems to have done ok at Villa, I think?

Seems unlikely. He's so useless he has to go on Talksport and Sky Sports for work.

I remember Purslow being around when we were a complete disaster of a club. No thanks.

It was he who struck the deal with Standard Chartered. And it was also him and Ian Ayre who stopped us going into liquidation by signing the club over to RBS to initiate a sale. That's when Broughton was brought in to oversee the sale and removal of Hicks and Gillett.

Hicks tried to fire Purslow and Ayre and replace them with family members, but the courts decided the sackings were unlawful, allowing the sale to go ahead.

That sounds about right, @Forget. I think Purslow did a good job for us.
