PAPADOPOULOS
{Ed002's Note - Kyriakos Papadopoulos' contract runs another year after this. There was previous interest in Kyriakos Papadopoulos from Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Dortmund but all of these clubs walked away due to cost or injury and they all purchased other centre backs. Recent interest is from Atletico and at Bayer Leverkusen who have him on loan. I don't understand why the Liverpool fans are asking about him again (you are not the first) - perhaps this is something in a newspaper or on Twitter, but I am not aware of interest at this time - particularly from a club that is overrun with centre backs. The club already has well respected young centre backs like Lloyd Jones and Paez who cannot get in to the side in addition to first team centre backs Kolo Touré, Lovren, Sakho, Skrtel and loaned out Coates and Ilori. If Rodgers just wants padding for the squad, it strikes me as an odd choice - but with Kyriakos Papadopoulos you do get a lot of padding for your money. I would be a little surprised if Liverpool were looking at him again, but not totally surprised if Rodgers were to simply spend more money for what appears to be the sake of it. Again, and I don't like talking about "injury history", but Papadopoulos has missed something like 22 games already this season and missed pretty much the whole season a couple of years ago. Again, right now he is out for the next three months. Rightly or wrongly, that would concern a lot of clubs and this has led Atletico to drop their interest. Bayer Leverkusen would like to make the deal permanent but are not going to overspend on the player.}

MONTOYA
Martin Montoya was looking to stay in Spain despite interest from Bayern Munich and Roma last summer. However, he has had a very poor season and Barcelona will certainly be willing to let him move on. Liverpool have looked at him before and Liverpool may well have returned to Montoya with Johnson leaving and Flanagan being injured, and certainly if Manquillo were to leave this summer then he would be a very viable option - but no deal has been completed as I understand has been reported.}

Folks, I assume because of something in the press, have been asking about Janmaat moving to Liverpool. I don't know of interest but I am pretty sure Newcastle would not want to sell.}

CARVAJAL
{Ed002's Note - Real Madrid have made it clear that they will consider selling Dani Carvajal this summer as his performances have not been the best in recent months and they already have an agreement in place for his replacement. The player has made it very clear that wants to stay in Madrid - although he may be open to a return to Germany where Bayern Munich have shown some interest. PSG and Manchester City have also both expressed an interest in the player but they are constrained by FFP sanctions still.
Given that Liverpool has not been playing with aright back in recent months it makes little sense to splurge what would be a great deal of money for a player that they already have sufficient cover for on the odd occasion one is required.}
