Not sure we need a right back do we?

Right Back is the last of our worries. We already have Clyne, Flanno, Wisdom, Randall who play there. Gomez, Alexander-Arnold and even Milner can fill in aswell.

To answer the question however, we were linked with Gabriel Mercado from River Plate the other week, not sure how much truth there was in that rumour however.

Yeah that Mercado rumour made no sense whatsoever.
As the first responder said, we've got 4 right-backs (not including Wisdom who will leave) so that'll be that for this season.
Only possibility could be next summer if Flanno fails to prove himself to Klopp and Randall doesn't make a breakthrough either.

I really must say, though. Every time I've seen Randall he's impressed me and if he continues playing like he did at Tranmere I could see him usurping Flanno. He just seems to have more drive and threat going forward than both Flanno and Clyne.

I am not sure if there was any legs to the Mercado, makes no sense the guy is 29 and has not broken into Europe yet. Klopp was seen at two Argentina games during Copa America, which stirred up a bunch of rumours. Could have just been taking in a game as a guest of Higuain's brother. No one say Klopp was scouting Higuain.

There is another lad from River Plate, Eder Alvarez Balanta he is a Columbian lad. Strong in the air and can play across the back four. Any thoughts on him Eds.

{Ed001's Note - on the few occasions I have seen him, he stood out like a sore thumb as the best player on the pitch. There have been a number of Italian clubs closing in on him for years now, no idea why he has never gone there.}

Today, Balanta really doesn't look like the player he once promised to be. An unlucky run of injuries over the last few years has interrupted his progress, and nowadays he looks shaky, prone to error and perhaps lacking in confidence.

At 23 he still has time to develop. But see above for the reasons that European clubs are yet to pull the trigger on him.
