It is exactly what you say, also a number of things could be part of it. Injury, personality of the player, face not fitting with manager or simply cannot take the next step from youth res to first team. Look at the number of players not just Liverpool we have talked about over the years supposed to being the next big thing and you never hear much after they break records at youth level. . I honestly believe also that a lot of youths at premier league teams have money fired at them and the motivational side of things gets killed off because of this. Signing a 5 year deal getting 10k a week and no where near the first team. a lot of kids would think they made it just by getting the money and not the football side of things.

How dare you mate? don't you know that the anti BR brigade will write pages and pages of complete nonsense to prove a useless point?

I am divided on the manager but questioning everything he does is queit frankly pathetic. So many here certain BR will be moved on. Please read my future too will you? Get a grip and get behind the club, players and manager.
The levels of fickleness has reached new hights i never thought possible with the "best fans in the world"

The bitters are in a relagation scrap and their fans are still more supportive despite most of them wanting their manager out. I used to post a lot before and when BR was just in charge but over the last year or so the level of "know it all" "fans" has pushed me to even stop reading this wonderful site. you know who are! YOU are not experts hecause you play fifa or fm, that is the most stupid thing in the universe. rant over!

Juicer, saw the article and mentioned it on here for those with the views that a long list of kids should be given a chance, I agree and would love the kids to be given a chance and I know we won't know if they are good enough until we try but the long lists that appear seem to be overly optimistic to say the least, and its worth remembering the 2006 won the Youth cup.

Jack Dunn was 11 in 2006 ! Try again .

{Ed001's Note - and anyway, the youth team of 2006 was not a particularly good one, which is why Rafa ripped the whole academy apart in the first place.}

FYI, there was a certain Daniel Sturridge in the City team that year.
