Good morning reds

Im doubting the Clyne bid from us is true.

It came from ESPN and its not confirmed anywere. Ontop of that he has never been mentioned on here by Eds on there player interest summary and still they no nothing of it when asked.

It sounds like a case of someone trying to drum up intetest in him.

We should have gone in for him ages ago. I remember having a conversation with Ed1 comparing him and Chambers when they were both at Southampton, I'd still rather have Clyne. He's quality.

{Ed001's Note - I disagree, he still goes missing in more games than he plays well in, his crossing and passing is not the best, but he scores the odd screamer and looks good on highlight packages so people love him. It says a lot for how few top right backs there are around that he is one of the best in the league.}

He's good going forward but as good defending and closes his man down well. He's got the pace for keeping up with pacy wingers and doesn't mind getting stuck in either. I quite like him and think he would be perfect for us.

Red Rum

{Ed001's Note - he is pacey but not that good defending, I really don't know where that comes from. Like all modern full backs he is regularly caught upfield, which is why Southampton were so reliant on having good defensive midfielders in the side to cover the centrebacks getting dragged out wide to cover. If he offered more going forward, then yes it would make up for it, but his end product is generally poor and he mostly just gave a short ball to the winger to make something happen because of it. He is ok, but no more than that. Koeman's tactics made him look better than he is.}

Janmaat please, he's solid and he can also double at CB if we have an injury crisis/another disaster of a year there.

Different positions I know, but the way you described Clyne is exactly the way I would describe Sterling

Clyne looked awful for England too. Typical Rodgers signing if you ask me

I think janmaat is better than clyne. And with Newcastle languishing might be available if we push. Clyne is good but he is english so obviously overrated. Plus Southampton have a bad history of ripping us.

Clyne reminds me a lot of Johnson (that's not a good thing)

Why Jack, only similarity I can see is the quite obvious one. Other than that they're not similar at all. Johnson has never been able to defend.

I would take Janmaat over Clyne. Clyne is in a good system (just like Lovren was at the saints)but he is a FB who can attack but can`t defend one-on-one
