Interesting comparison to Sir Alex Fegusons start at Man Utd.

First season - dragged utd to 11th after being near the bottom when he took over. Finished 2nd in his second season behind an unstoppable liverpool side. They were greatly expected to push on in the third season but ended up having a disastrous end to the season and finished 11th again.

In the next season they finished 13th! But won the cup - which inevitably saved Fergies job.

Food for thought.

{Ed001's Note - hardly, Fergie faced a player's revolt because he tried to cut out the drinking culture at the club, hence the crash in season 3 and the struggle to rebuild. Rodgers has never had to face any kind of issue like that. It is not a relevant comparison. If we had a similar problem to be dealt with, then I would agree, but there is nothing like that to hold him back with us.}

Personally, I think regardless of comparisons, all managers have their own issues to deal with, and we have to acknowledge that for the past 2 seasons he's had ongoing off field issues to deal with regarding Suarez and Sterling, he's had to find a way of accommodating a declining Gerrard, He's had injury problems to deal with, especially to our best striker and our best defensive midfielder. He's had to find a way of accommodating players he doesn't want such as Balotelli, and he's had to try and compete in all competitions with a squad lacking any real quality.

I'm not making excuses for him, but I feel there's a lot that needs sorting out this summer regarding the structure of the club, and maybe we should cut him some slack.

P.S. Regarding your username. If you don't agree with the representation of YNWA, and how it indicates the togetherness within the club, then maybe this isn't the club for you.

Red Rum

{Ed001's Note - off field issues with Suarez went in the summer, so no excuse to the shambolic season. Also none of these things are relevant to a total inability to defend throughout his reign.

Secondly, what off field issues with Sterling? The crap in the media was just that, the only off field issue were those created by Rodgers alienation of a talented young player. Not sure how that is something to defend him with.

Yes he has had a declining Gerrard, but again that is what a manager has to deal with, can it be said he dealt with it at all? Every club has players that are over the hill and they have to make decisions on how to use them at their best. Rodgers just alienated him, humiliating him by dropping him for the biggest game of the season against Real Madrid. Shows a clear lack of man management with the way he dealt with that issue.

Injury problems? We have only really had one real injury to worry about all season, Sturridge's, if he can't figure out a way to cope with one player out, then you have to question his management again. The injury to Lucas was hardly a problem when he wasn't picking him for most of the season anyway.

Find a way to accomodate players he didn't want like Balotelli? Well then he should have found a better striker, such as Remy that he pulled the plug on, instead of failing to cope with the one he ended up with.

You are making excuses for his failings, but none of those excuses hold water, as every one of them are down to him.}

Agreed Ed001. There can be no excuses from Rodgers for last season. He is fully responsible due to buying players we didn't need, playing players out of position, not picking lucas when he was fit, not signing remy and signing balotelli instead. The Times are reporting that his job is safe but I can't believe it is. If it is, then I have to question what the owners think they are doing as things won't improve under Rodgers. All they have to do is speak to someone in the game and they will tell them that Rodgers is not the right man for the job going forward.

You can find hundreds of managers who did as badly as BR in his first seasons and only one Ferguson who then later became the great manager who was. And even he won the FA cup in his third season as you say, while we were well beaten by Aston Villa for God sake. And Ferguson had won some trophies in Scotland before coming to united (and not with Rangers or Celtic).

The fact that BR had three trophy-less season is no inidcation he will now become a Ferguson. Why not compare him to Ron Atkinson who United fired mid season to bring Ferguson? Think what would have happened if they sticked to Atkinson instead of going for Ferguson?

We are there now, there is a 'Ferguson' out there who apperantly wants to come and manage LFC. His name is Jurgen Klopp. And we insist of staying with BR. For me it is like Ronaldo would have liked to come play for us and we said no we want to give Baloteli another chance. And I am not a BR hater. Have a lot of sympathy to him, think he was very unlucky this season and not everything is his fault. But if Klopp wants to come it is a no brainer. And in my view the owners are doing here the greatest mistake since taking the club and we will all pay.

He has been in charge 3 years, any problems are his own making! I think I'm right in saying that Ferguson had won championships and a euro competition with Aberdeen rather than being sacked by Reading and Watford .

Long time reader, first time poster . be gentle!

Is it more than just hearsay that two world class managers (Klopp and Ancelotti) have allegedly come out and said, of all the clubs in the world they would want to manage it is Liverpool?

Does it not strike anyone else as very odd that they would pin their colours to a mast if there wasn't an indication of a pending vacancy?

{Ed002's Note - You are very naïve.}

Hi Ed001 finally someone who talks sense. As I have said all season if you cannot defend then you have no chance . Rodgers has hidden behind the argument of not scoring enough goals but we have been in enough games e.g crystal palace last year and this where we have scored first however we are not good enough to defend a lead. Every set piece the opposition looks like scoring and all the back 5 are Rodgers signings ( skittle excluded). Defensively Rodgers is inept and at least Kenny realised this in his stint and brought I Clark. Using strevie as a lone DM was crazy, playing Allen as DM was crazy. Dropping Lucus when fit was Crazy. Telling everyone that a lack of goals is the problem when we have shed loads of forwards is crazy when your goalkeeper and back 4 cannot defend is crazy. Keeping Rodgers and not begging Klopp would be crazy. Great post Ed01 now go and tell FSG and pick up Klopp on the way.

I told you it was my first post! :)

Rather than just dismissing my comment, please help me understand why I am being naive.

{Ed002's Note - Klopp is the manager of another team and concentrating all of his efforts there. At no point has he come out and stated that "of all the clubs in the world" it is Liverpool he wants to manage - he would not even use the word "manage". Ancelotti: At no point has he come out and stated that "of all the clubs in the world" it is Liverpool he wants to manage. And then you come up with your little theory. All very naïve.}

It's more likely, if at all, both Klopp & Ancelotti were asked a question which could only give a positive answer towards LFC. It was probably a random question with no relevance to the press conference they were giving at that time. One or two hacks took their vague answer/reference and ran a story or two.

One high profile club manager has a run of poor results, fans boo a little in last game. Check.
High profile manager about to be sacked or quit, needs new job/challenge. Check.

Ask random leading question, like, your fans sing YNWA, so do LFC fans, do you know that do you think they're a wonderful club. "Yes they have great fans, sing every game Its a great club with great history"

Bingo. Klopp loves LFC wants to mange them tomorrow !!!

{Ed002's Note - You guys just love making stuff up.}

We was told on a LFC legends tour that Brendon didn't want Baloteli anywhere near the club. So on that note,I don't think Rogers is to blame. So all the Rogers haters, if he keeps his job you know why.

The only excuses Br has for screwing up and being on the brink, are the baseless drivel his acolytes keep making for him with their comparisons and suppositions that have no base in fact and logic and are nothing more than fantasies. Ed is on fire with these apologists and long may it continue until this failure of a manager is out of our club for good
