Hi Guys

Just want to ask, after watching Ashley Williams top performance last night for Wales, i was wondering what centre backs you would have chosen for the wasted 20 million we spent on Lovren.
With Rodgers managing Williams for 2 years and us needing a centre back who can organise, pass, tackle, head the ball, whos consistent, why didn't Rodgers take a punt on Williams instead of Allen?

Just want to see the views?

Evered

{Ed001's Note - he never wanted to leave Swansea nor to join us.}

He also stated 2 years ago that he hated Suarez, which didn't exactly endear him to LFC supporters

To be honest there's a multitude of options at centreback we could have got for that amount.Sticking to those reasonably priced from the premiership years still kicking about

I'd have loved Scott Dann,I know he's never really joined a big club, but I just love the way he goes about it,he's a good leader, always performed well defenseivly, decent header, doesn't f about and clears his lines when necessary and postitions himself well with which ever partner I've seen with him.

I personally always preferred Fonte out of the two as well.Seems more composed, better at in the air again, better against pacey players by positioning himself properly(getting close to the lone striker early,or dropping back with the line)

Samba would probably be another, thought I haven't seen him play since he left the prem.

There's a lot more too.

I think building on what ed001 said,Williams also said something about Suarez in his book as well he certainly wouldn't have enjoyed working with Luis I don't think. thought bad blood didn't stop sherringham and cole being effective on the field.

Williams is a fan aswel. He came up for the Gerrard testimonial and had played the day before for Wales.

These are the type of players I never understand how they don't get brought up to the bigger clubs, maybe not Liverpool but look how city asked around for a.partner for kompany, I just don't see someone like Williams as any step down from what they bought. Top player.

My history could be a bit off but I am pretty sure we were linked with Williams when BR first joined after he secured Allen and Borini. A lot of supporters did not want him as he was seen as a mid table player.
Nice how things change.

Ed already said he did not wanna come here or leave Swansea so it really doesn't matter

He loves it at Swansea and it is good to see a player commit himself to a club, just like Gerard did. The fans love him and he is big mates with Monk. Every transfer window he is linked with a move away ( mainly to Arsenal) but he is still there

His leadership qualities would've made him a good signing a few years ago.

We had Sakho, Skrtel, Toure
I would have went for a RCB and sold Skrtel, so maybe one of Howedes, Garay or Bonucci.
Then used Ilori as backup LCB as he has played in that position previously for Sporting and also only loan at Granada (granted it was in a back three)
