Not going to rant over Rodgers as we all know he is not the man to take us forward, but looking ahead I would say the next liverpool managerial appointment is going to be the most important since Houllier took over the Reds all those years ago.
We need someone who has leadership direction and is able to get us established in Europe again.
It needs to be someone with a long term plan who in 5 years time has us regularly in the Champions League which in turns enables us to attract the best players (something that Rodgers current Status in the game does not)
Im not sure who this Man is but if we get the next Liverpool wrong our mighty club could fall from grace even more than we have already.
We can never again (and should not have) appoint a manger with no standing in the game who has never won a trophy or even achieved anything.
The Liverpool managerial job should never be a job for someone to learn their trade, it should be a job where only the best are welcome and have to be a the top of their profession to even get a look in.
Just my humble opinion guys

{Ed002's Note - The owners will not be looking for a five year plan to be getting in to the Champions League on a regular basis, they will be looking to be regularly winning the league and challenging for the Champions League by then.}

Ed02,do you not think then that they need to lower their expectations and walk before they can run

{Ed002's Note - Their business model was to spend and build a team to win the league and challenge in Europe - they lost money at the rate of £1M a week over the first three seasons - this recent splurge might well be the last throw of the dice for them.}

The plan wad badly flawed giving the money and players to a man who has won nothing in the game.I realise every manager is a risk to some extent,but spending that kind of money you'd want someone that had proved themselves

{Ed002's Note - Not necessarily - in Germany the way is very much for the young and hungry managers and coaches to get a chance. This is beginning to happen across Europe. There are a whole bunch of younger coaches out there who will be vying for opportunities at the highest level. There is nothing wrong with Liverpool taking that approach. Guardiola had a season with the Barcelona B side before getting the Barcelona job. Julen Lopetegui (certainly one to watch) had done zip at club level when he got the Porto job. These are just examples - but don't discount clubs looking to appoint "the right man" - not necessarily the most successful.}

There aren't many experienced managers who would take the Liverpool job I doubt anyway, most have jobs

Tuchel is doing an amazing job so far at Dortmund as well.

The "best fit" man should be the one FSG need to put in place when Rodgers is sacked. But at this point, I am not at all confident about FSG are their decisions on the "sporting side" of the game at LFC.

Whether the plan to appoint Rodgers in the first place was flawed or not, they have had enough time to assess what Rodgers is all about, and if they still need "advise" to tell them very obvious things regarding LFC, I will from now on doubt their decision making powers.

Fair answer Ed02 thanks,I suppose Liverpool find themselves in the position of many so called smaller clubs in the fact they simply can't attract the top managers anymore

{Ed002's Note - Terms like "smaller" and "top" are subjective. The answer may not be Guardiola, JK or Mourinho - it may be Monk, it may be Jemez or Bradley, may be it is SSN or even Rodgers. But it needs to be the right person as far as that is determinable, and he (or she) will need the support of the owners, the board and the players - and they really need the support of the fans until another transient manager or coach is recruited - and then it starts again.}

{Ed002's Note - Nonsense.}
