Afternoon Ed01, I would like your opinion on something if possible, a couple of us were dicussing conduct on the pitch with recent events, some were ok with it & others not so! it has obviously always gone on as Ian Wright & others have confirmed but was it to the same extent. Are you happy with winding up the opposition or do you see it as bad sportsmanship or not concentrating on your own game?

{Ed001's Note - it is bad sportsmanship and the refs should book a player for doing it, if they catch them, automatically. I believe it comes under the rule of ungentlemanly conduct or whatever it is called these days. Secondly, it can be detrimental or beneficial, depending on so many different factors that is impossible to say which it will be in what match. Whereas concentrating 100% on your own game and working harder on that is always beneficial, so I fail to see the point in winding your opponent up personally. May as well put the effort in to playing the game instead.}

Much better to wind up your opponent by your footballing skills than your verbal ones.
Wreck their heads with your skills and they will make mistakes, slag off their sister and your likely to get butted (zidane)

When I played any sport I always felt it was best to score goals, points, touchdowns etc. I would let my opponents run there mouths. At the end of the game after my team has won there isn't much they can say. I've always felt that way and that is how I'm teaching my boys to behave.

I really wish Zidane would have done that in the world cup as I really dislike the Italians

I agree with most of what's been said but take someone like McEnroe. He ran his mouth and shouted at umpires because he genuinely believes it fired him up and made his opponent lose focus. The facts about the weekend are Gabriel lost focus and Chelsea took 3 points.
