Sounds like Hummels has got itchy feet.
If we do get in the champions league, does anyone expect Kloppo to bid for him?

Sounds suspiciously like standard contract negotiation trick to me. Expect him to announce a bumper new deal with Dortmund in the summer.

Despite how good sakho and lovren look together, Hummels is the kind of player you be ruthless for, he is a certain improvement. If he becomes available i'd be shocked if we did not at least try. I definitely believe he will be gone this summer though, surely a bit tired of dortmund by now, he has done a good term i imagine he wants some regular trophies now.

don't forget we have Matip to arrive also, I could see Skrtel leaving as a result and we know Kolo is and I would expect Ilori to be offloaded also. I certainly wouldn't turn my nose up at Hummels! How realistic that is I'm not sure, muscatred raises a valid point.

Lovren and sakho have improved and kept us in a lot of games recently. Don't think you should look at replacing players who are developing a partnership, working hard and improving. I'm happy for them both because they were both almost out the door and now they are enjoying their football. With matip as a backup, Lucas able to play their and Gomez coming back, I think we have more pressing issues.

I really don't think Hummels would take well to the Premier League. He's looked pretty slow every time i've seen him play, he's not going to speed up at this stage in his career, and he just doesn't have a natural frame for a footballer, so I wouldn't be surprised if he picks up a lot of injuries in his later years.

He's a good footballer, but I don't think he's a good signing for a top premier league team. Not saying we shouldn't sign a defender, not saying we should, I just wouldn't be keen on spending £20M+ on Hummels.

To be honest I watched him closely those two Borussia games and he lacks a bit of pace on my opinion. No sure he would suit english game realy. In any case we have now a good central defender partnership developing, plus Matip joining in. let's leave the fourth spot at central defending for Gomez -with Lucas ready to help- and save some fat cash for other positions if needed.

Sakho and Lovren are good, but Lovren can still be a bit naive defensively. This is only occasional mind, but Hummels is a world class defender and is one of the best ball playing defenders I've seen. Him and Sakho would be impervious imo, but - if I learnt anything from Professor APWBD - it does not do to dwell on dreams, and forget to live.

No chance of Hummels IMO. If he is available, there will be others who can pay more, offer CL, and offer him a bigger wage.
