Lyon and Monaco are the latest clubs linked with Origi. Someone mentioned yesterday that Lazio are interested too. Ed is any of this true?
Also regarding Mendy, are we willing to change our stance or is it looking increasingly unlikely?

{Ed025's Note - i have heard nothing on origi daredman, and city look in the box seat with mendy at the moment but its by no means a done deal yet mate..

1.) 02 Jun 2017 21:25:22
Cheers ed, I know you must be sick and tired of answering about mendy now. He is the left back we need imo.

{Ed025's Note - no problem mate..

2.) 03 Jun 2017 10:19:19
It seems a shame for us to miss out on Mendy if what Macca says is true and he did want to join us.

As annoying as it is we can't afford to match the wages City can offer and we have to live within our means.

Brannagan loan to Bolton seems to be on the cards in January. I really hope he can kickstart his career and make a big impression.
Are any other loan deals on the cards for January?

23 Nov 2016 18:58:52
Prepare for 'Azmoun to Liverpool' rumours everyone, he scored tonight against Bayern Munich.

1.) 23 Nov 2016 19:20:43
He looks a prospect but I just can't see what he would bring that we don't already have. He wouldn't get the game time he needs to develop into a top player.

2.) 30 Nov 2016 01:53:17
Cracking player his ball control is amazing him n couts open up defences on the turn at will he won't leave create the right atmospere n players thrive klopps getting the fans to feed his players awesome.

01 Nov 2016 10:16:14
Schalke left back Kolasanic linked on a free transfer. I remember ed001 mentioning his name a good 6 months ago as a potential option.

1.) 01 Nov 2016 13:14:17
have watched schalke a lot and i think he would fit in very nicely in england. i think this would be a very good signing for liverpool if true.

2.) 01 Nov 2016 16:23:14
If the last Schalke defender we signed on a free is anything to go by then sign him up!

3.) 01 Nov 2016 23:30:55
I've seen him play a couple of times and the guy is a very solid defender with attacking sense. He took over from Fuchs who is the best LB in the PL. I wouldn't mind him at all.

4.) 03 Nov 2016 09:18:28
Ed001, What are your thoughts on Lovren if I may ask? I find myself constantly struggling to make up my mind!

{Ed001's Note - on his day he is good, but he can be rash and is far too inconsistent, which suggests he has mental issues with concentration and focus. Without good concentration and focus you are unlikely to reach your potential as a defender on a regular basis. Personally I think he would make an excellent back up, third choice, defender, but he is not quite good enough for first choice.}

5.) 03 Nov 2016 10:16:15
Yea I'd agree with that! Thanks for the reply Ed :)

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

06 Sep 2016 17:46:12
There will be Liverpool scouts present at the Germany u21s game tonight to watch Mahmoud Dahoud.

1.) 06 Sep 2016 19:44:22
were going to need someone like him in Jan / Feb, Our star player Mane is playing in the African Cup or something, and will miss about four games, two being United and Chelsea, I am really hoping that Ojo makes the big step up, he has it in him to do it .

2.) 06 Sep 2016 19:47:18
I do find it interesting that scouts watch internationals.
It's so different to club football.

3.) 06 Sep 2016 21:58:06
ron, yes me too. And I find it interesting that someone above thinks we need to sign a player in January as Mane will be missing for 4 games. yes 4 missing games means we need a massive January signing. Is that to replace a player many of us in here thought was not very good before he had kicked a ball in the colours of LFC?

4.) 06 Sep 2016 22:30:28
If I remember correctly, Mane missed the Burnley game, one that most fans thought would be a handy three points, and guess what, there goalie could have been reading the programme, we were awful, after just three games, we are already playing catch up .
maybe icon, you forgot to read the post properly, I said two important points .
one, Mane will miss two very big games, Man U and Chelsea .
two, I said that I hoped Ojo would be able to step up, as I think that he can .
if I can just add, that Liverpool paid a very big fee to get Mane, and already he is being looked at maybe being our Star player .
we really need someone else up front, to take us to the next level .

5.) 06 Sep 2016 22:52:03
Redforever. I have to point out that you said he'd be missing for 4 games but named 2 of the teams he will miss. So are you saying he will miss 2 or 4 games? You did say you hope ojo can step up
But you also did say we need someone like Dahoud in January. That tells me you think we should sign Dahoud in January. Iconic did read it properly, you didn't write it properly I think.

6.) 07 Sep 2016 00:50:16
actually WelshRed, Mane will be missing for more than four games, I did mention the two big games, as I thought them the most important, Mane will also miss an FA. Cup game, 4th round I think, also a League cup game, if we are still involved, its my opinion that this season, we don't have the team to make top four, as we have too many weak spots in the team,
if you look at other teams, were they have bought to improve their team, spending huge amounts of money, its far too easy to get left behind, and end up mid table .
there is a transfer window in Jan, that I think Klopp will use to improve our team .
we have so many injuries, Ojo himself has been out, one of many, but I see him a big star one day .
now I can't see the future, but Mane will miss Cup games, whoever we are drawn against, also how far Manes national team gets to .
I hope this makes my previous post a bit clearer, sorry if it came across not so clear .
I also believe that we might become too relient on Mane, and fall back when he does not play, this is were I amlooking at the bigger picture, and mention Ojo, or Dahoud, who I think we will see at Liverpool .

7.) 07 Sep 2016 00:59:09
Just like to point out to Redforever that Dahoud is not a winger or forward, so the talk of Manè and Ojo is completely irrelevant!

8.) 07 Sep 2016 01:01:11
WelshRed, I just looked at my first post, and I did say that Mane will be missing for about four games . this being, like I have mentioned, how far we go in the Cup Games, and how long Mane is away for,
you asked, am I saying is it two or four, well it could be six, we will see, but one point that I am making is that Mane is becoming so important for us, that his absence will be reflected on the results, hence why I think we should buy big in January, to make the team stronger .
I don't want to see us in 8th place ever again .

9.) 07 Sep 2016 02:58:18
Ragout is being scouted for next season, I read somewhere so don't understank those saying he'll be bought to compensate for Mane who'll be off to the AFCON, especially as he's a CM and not a winger. Makes no sense really.

10.) 07 Sep 2016 09:23:19
That makes things a LOT clearer redforever. Who do you feel we need in January to strengthen? For me, it's too early to call except the obvious LB situation.

{Ed002's Note - Clubs rarely if ever plan for January transfers. Clubs do not wish to sell because of disruption. Additionally, clubs do not buy cover for players going to the Africa Cup of Nations. I would not get your hopes up too much.}

11.) 07 Sep 2016 10:21:46
Cheers Ed 👍.

12.) 07 Sep 2016 14:32:07
Maradoo, Klopp likes his strikers and attacking players to rotate positions during play, you could see Sturridge or Mane anywere up front, and that's the type of player that he likes, I am hoping that when he does buy another offensive player, he will fit into his system, just trust in Klopp, he is not perfect, but he is our manager .

13.) 07 Sep 2016 14:42:44
WelshRed, I can see us bringing in the obvious left back, a defensive midfielder, and let Lucas move on, also a pacy attacking player . this Dahoud kind of fits the bill, also he is on his last year of contract, will not sign a new one, he is not being picked to play first team football, so he could leave in January .
but as the Eds have said many times, transfers are more difficult in this window,
just some more info on Mane, he has just won the Liverpool player of the month, and in Jan / Feb, he could miss a minimum of four games, up to a maximum of seven games, depending on how long he is away for, and if we are in the League cup semi finals, which is over two legs .

14.) 07 Sep 2016 20:03:01

Dahoud has 2 more years until june 2018.

15.) 07 Sep 2016 20:46:22
Malagared, are you sure, its not what I read, anyway, that transfer might never happen, tho he is a really good player, and Klopp has a history of moving players on, and bringing in new ones .

16.) 07 Sep 2016 20:51:47
Come January anyone else think we could do with a AM?

17.) 07 Sep 2016 21:00:21
Malagared, think were both right, yes he is under contract till 2018, but he will not sign an extension to this contract, is not getting picked for his side, and will probably move on in the summer transfer window, looks like Klopp is keeping an eye on him as Liverpool scouts were checking him out .

18.) 08 Sep 2016 04:29:00
It looks like we have turned his head. But I don't se a sale in January unless we were to pay a huge money. should have bought him instead of Wijnaldum in the summer.

19.) 08 Sep 2016 04:31:29
Buying dahoud would just mean grudjic who every1 was raving about in prem season falling down pecking order who he has just bought. Left back will b bought unless milner somehow manages to play consistently well there until Jan. Just my opinion.

20.) 08 Sep 2016 18:21:24
yes, hoping Grudjic will get game time, think there is something about him needing so many games to get his work permit? , I think come next summer, there could be one or two first teamers leaving,
this Dahoud is only young, and plays a bit like Couts, who as he improves, will attract the interest of the top two spanish clubs,
so lots to look forward to, Anfield will be rocking on sat evening .

21.) 09 Sep 2016 19:11:35
Should never base signing players on how they perform in internationals.

22.) 12 Sep 2016 14:38:31
I wanted to see Grujic come on instead of Moreno in the last match, but I think he'll get his time given a couple of months with us. It'll be hard for him though -- Can is one of our most valuable players and wasn't in the lineup yesterday and it looks like Stewey will be a favorite of Klopp (particularly when we're winning late in games) . Lucas could be played in that position a few times as well so Grujic will have to continue to impress in training and earn that spot.

I asked a couple of months ago about the opinion of the goalkeepers at the club and you told me to ask again. So have you found out anything?
Thanks to all the eds for the wonderful work you all put in, we're very lucky to have all this information.

{Ed001's Note - right now nothing has changed, the club is going to have a look at them all in preseason, Klopp will have a chat with them and decisions will be made. Right now Migs is 1, Karius 2 and Ward 3.}

1.) 04 Jul 2017 17:57:14
Thanks ed!

30 Jun 2017 16:17:49
BBC reporting that we're 'willing to pay a club record fee for Keita. ' We all knew it would take a club record fee to get him but will we pay £60-70m is the question.

1.) 30 Jun 2017 16:33:23
If we were willing to pay £50 mill for VDV, I do expect a similar figure for Kieta. We will try to recoup as much possible from sales, somewhere in the region of £60-70 mill.

2.) 30 Jun 2017 16:38:38
I wonder if Klopp and FSG will pay that kind of money for a player. He might appear to be a critical part of the equation for Klopp, but that's a huge fee, up there with what the Machester clubs and Chelsea would pay for a player. We have generally not been active in that area of the transfer market.

3.) 30 Jun 2017 18:14:38
And look at the success the Manchester clubs and Chelsea have had iconic paying huge transfer fees. Chelsea and City have won premiership titles and United a European title that got them into the Champions League. We need to be active not reactive. As Harry Sykes says' this is a sign of the times'

10 May 2017 16:13:44
Ed001, what's the opinion on Grabara, the U23s keeper, at the club?
Personally I feel he's looked very good at times.

{Ed001's Note - to be honest I don't know, I have never asked. I will make a point of asking about him next chance I get.}

1.) 10 May 2017 18:29:53
Thanks mate. If you could ask about our goalkeepers in general that would be great!

{Ed001's Note - I will do mate, I would like to know what is happening with Ward and Fulton as well.}

10 May 2017 16:27:39
The U23s played their final game of the season on Monday against Everton at Goodison and won 2-1. Absolutely cracking game.
We had a very strong side out with TAA, Woodburn, Grujic and Wilson all starting. Everton had won the league prior to this game and it was nice to put a dampener on what was meant to be a day of celebration for them.
Ojo scored the opener early on with the assist coming from Wilson. Someone asked about Ojo the other day and in my opinion he plays well most games but he doesn't stand out as one of the best. I think ed001 was bang on with what he said about him.
Trent AA scored the second goal early in the second half with a really well taken goal with the assist coming from Grujic who ran through the midfield after nut megging one of their players. Grujic is getting better and better since coming back from injury and he was excellent against Everton. I'd like to see him play more in the final two games of the season.
The stand out performers for me were Trent AA and Grujic. Honourable mentions to Wilson, Grabara and Gomez too.
I add that Grabara made some key saves to earn us the win so he pulled a big performance out the bag there.
That's the end of the season now lads for the U23s so no more football with the young lads for a little while. I'll try and do these match reports again next season if I can.
We finished third in premier league 2 altogether and I would say we had a very good performance. There were a few games where we were very much under strength due to injuries and some players getting time in the first team so with a little more luck we could have won the league.
We have a bright future I will say that!

1.) 10 May 2017 16:55:05
thanks for all your match day reports DaRedMan, appreciate it, it was nice of you to keep us all updated on the u23's, thanks pal.

2.) 10 May 2017 18:30:18
No problem kk7!

{Ed025's Note - the young lads done very well daredman, to finish third behind that glorious everton side means you over achieved and even though liverpool are miles behind everton in the youngster department it was a fine effort and the 3rd place trophy well deserved mate.. :)

3.) 10 May 2017 20:12:06
Thanks so much for the updates, I for one, am quite interested in the younger players, seeing who are improving and who are on the verge of breaking into the first team squad . Look forward to more of the same from you DaRedMan.

4.) 10 May 2017 20:52:23
Very clever ed, I expect your boys in the first team will be celebrating that seventh place and the fact that there's ONLY 4 places between you and us. ;)

{Ed025's Note - we are on the way up daredman, not only have we got a plethora of cash to spend this summer but we also have the best crop of youngsters chomping at the bit to become part of this revolution, new manager, new team and next a new state of the art stadium means the peoples club are on the very afraid mate.. :)

5.) 10 May 2017 21:22:13
The not so noisy neighbors are wittering in again;) jokes aside, the only way is up for Everton. The youth system is in great shape, I have been very impressed by them this season. Maybe you'll get out of the Europa group stages next year then.

{Ed025's Note - its CL or bust for us daredman, wait until you see the players we are signing next season mate you will be green with envy.. :)

6.) 10 May 2017 22:29:58
To move forward ed you need to keep your team together and hold onto your best players. Lukaku leaving will be a big loss and it'll heap pressure on his replacement to deliver. You need a keeper, centre back, winger, central midfielder perhaps and a top quality striker to replace lukaku.

{Ed025's Note - im afraid romelu will be going mate so a striker is the priority, your right about what we need and im sure steve walsh has things in hand..

7.) 11 May 2017 11:05:30
To be fair though Ed it's harder than ever for youngsters to make the grade these days - how many of those in that U23 squad do you see actually making it? Especially with all this cash you's will be splashing? Not much incentive to give the young fellas a run out when you can sink a load of money into an already developed player eh. Not criticising but just seems to be the way football goes - the more money teams have the less you see youngsters breaking through, will your new found cash injection help or hinder those youngsters you've got?

{Ed025's Note - its bound to affect the youngsters future seano but to be fair to koeman he has given some of them a chance, its nice to see the likes of tom davies, calvert lewin, holgate and recently jonjoe kenny getting their chance, im a firm believer in giving these lads a chance and even if its league cup or europa league i love to see them getting a shot mate, after winning the U23 league i think we have as good a young crop as anybody but as you so rightly say they need to be given a chance and im very hopeful that everton are trying in that capacity..

01 Apr 2017 17:52:59
Great win today, so important as everything is so tight in the top 6 now. I hope Mane's okay!

Sorry about my U23 updates lately, I've been so busy so I haven't got round to posting on here lately.

The only news is that the youngsters reached the final of Premier League Cup on penalties against hull. That was about 10 days ago so sorry everyone for that!
Sit back and enjoy the weekend now reds, and hopefully see our rivals drop some points along the way!

1.) 01 Apr 2017 20:23:32
No need to apologise mate.

HessleRed, he may not be the most glamorous signing we've ever made but he's an improvement on what we already have and he wants to play for us which is more than can be said for other players who just go for the money. Also, what other left backs are available that would improve us?
Good signing imo and I'll be right behind him from the word go.
