Hey ed001

I see that Liverpool have let Rossiter go. This only confirms your assertions that the Liverpool academy have been concerned with Rossiter's recent progression.

I want to use this as a case to ask about public overpraise. Every time a young player shows promise, like Rossiter, people like Carragher will come out and say something like, 'he's got the potential to be the next Gerrard'.

You'd probably think it's somewhat irresponsible to say, and I would agree. But when you consider the personal day-to-day support and guidance of their coaches, how much do you think this really affects them, and how much can it be blamed for under-progression?

My view is that while overpraise may be irresponsible, most great players were overpraised in their younger days anyway, and they were obviously smart enough to put that praise into perspective, ignore it, and only listen to the people that matter. If they allow themselves to believe their own hype, then maybe they aren't mentally cut-out to excel in top-flight football.

I'm asking this because I saw a certain LFC fan article blaming Rossiter's Liverpool demise on overpraise, and I think that's just a little absurd.

{Ed001's Note - it really depends on the player. Sometimes it spurs them on to be better, mostly it just goes to their head and they think they have already done it all. It comes down to the coaching staff to keep their feet on the ground.}

Carragher grew into a main stay player but he was always grounded, Roy Evans has stated that they never expected him to be anything other than a bit part player. I guess some players do think they have made it by being called up to the first team squad. Good Luck to all the lads released or who choose look for a new start.

Actually most academy players dun even read news or internet or watch tv. They have their hands full juggling academic, girlfrens and tough training. So u r just overly concern. So the time they feel the hype is when they get to join the 1st team bench or play for 1st team.

{Ed001's Note - have you ever met an academy player? You really have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.}

No ed001 but you don't have to go to the moon to know the moon is round.

{Ed001's Note - you make yourself seem more foolish by the day. The moon is not actually round. Basic scientific knowledge would have told you that. Like basic knowledge of teenagers would have told you they spend all their time online.}

Is the moon not round? I blame Chelsea.

I never understood why everyone rated him so high. Very limited player. Players like Brannagan have a lot more talent than him but people don't talk about them much.

I think you can read into the Carragher situation that players like him succeed because they're told they won't amount to that much. Look at the number of top players who were knocked back as youngsters and came back better for it. Would ask the question is that part of the problem - that life now is too much about raising everyone up so they struggle to cope with set backs when they do come.

very true LondirishRed it always makes me cringe when a youngster gets called a wonderkid or the new Ronaldo etc they simply don't need that stupid label attached to them. As for rossiter its clear that injuries halted his progress always sad when that happens, good luck to him at rangers.

Don't shame the entire community of teenagers Ed001. Some like me are more intelligent than 100 year olds like you 😑.

{Ed001's Note - oh bless you, the very fact you believe that shows how little intelligence you really have.}

Ed001,I know most kids spend their time onlinr. But a trainee player who is vying for big time bpl is not any other kids, they stick to strict regime like training for olympics, they are too tired end of day. No time for some crap from daily or metro. They wun be affected .

{Ed001's Note - absolute bull. Like I said. They have plenty of spare time and they do not live like Olympians at all. If only they would do more would succeed.}

Actually ed I think you will find Leekuanyew is too busy taking spelling lessons to be able to watch or let alone meet academy players.

Leekuanyew is not a real person, right?
I am not excited about young players most of the time because too many disappointments in the past. Nice surprise when someone does break through.
