Hi Ed's

Just wondering if the wage structure at Liverpool is deciding on who we sign as it's a business and the need to make a profit is a must. I think what I'm trying to say is we have so many 1st teamers on big wages to sign another star isn't just the signing on fee plus tax plus agent fees as yous have explained previous is it a case with us now that we need to shift a few high earners to sign another star on high wages

{Ed002's Note - No. FFP for wages are an issue for all clubs but right now it does not determine which players the club buys.}

ed002 after letting sturridge and moreno leave we must be in a better place on wages. Do you see that money going on new player wages or the likes of trent and robbo getting new contracts back in January.

{Ed002's Note - That is not how clubs work, you need to step away from those thoughts. Sounds like kids with birthday money.}

Grino, club finances are not based on using a calculator to add up the fees for the players who have left and then determine how much you can buy for. Same with wages. Each transfer in and out are treated seperately.

The fact that Barcelona want to sell Coutinho and still owe LFC majority of his fee, maybe some do not realise that it is not just about plus and minus.

If Coutinho leaves then Barcelona will still pay as per the transfer contract. So if the contract agreed between Barcelona and Liverpool for the fee of Coutinho states for instance that his fee needs to be settled by X date then Barcelona will only pay the final amount of Coutinho's fee by X date.

So no, if you sell a player for a mega amount of money then it does not mean you get that mega amount of money in one go which meach means that you cannot go buy another player for the same amount as first of all, Coutinho's fees will only be settled until the last payment agreed between Barcelona an Liverpool which may be over let's say 3 seasons.

Barca only paid up the fees for Suarez to Liverpool last season if I am not mistaken.

So the next time you see a Liverpool player leaving for mega amounts of money, forget about the finances.

Basically, fees are generally paid over the length of the contract but it is no doubt much more complicated than that and something not worth delving into.
