Good news, according to press reports, Liverpool have opened talks with Naby Keita over a contract extension and are confident he will sign. Well, that is good news for a Saturday morning eh?

It's just a slow day, news-wise. They have to print something. Reprint some old news or make something up. That's the ticket on social media.

I think I’ll go slit my wrists with a blunt rusty teaspoon. Yay, three more years of mediocrity.

At least that's only 3 or 4 midfielders we need now?.

Suppose it’ll keep the physios in work.

I can’t tell if this is sarcasm?

The thing that genuinely did make me laugh was Southgate.

A man who continues to pick Maguire and Shaw said he can understand that people watching ( or ‘fans’ as he calls them, God bless him ) might boo.

Then he topped that by saying we are making progress.

If you don’t think he’s funny then there’s something wrong.

We "open talks" with Naby over a new contract roughly every 3 weeks or so for the last 3 months.

WDW, You are not wrong . Southgate is the most deluded bordering on arrogant manager I've ever seen. He tries to play this basic style of ultra defensive passing football and plays it off as some kind of super tactical master class that us mere plebs would not understand.

Its dull, boring and will ultimately lead to embarrassing results in the winter . He picks his favorites and refuses to entertain the fact they simply are not good enough. His formation is negative and easy to press. The attacking players he players are all there to make numbers up, that are clearly instructed to stay as deep as they can and get the ball to Kate in the final third, if he could play with 9 defenders and Harry Kane he would do. England need a total change of formation, tactics that allow the vast attacking aray of players we have to actually express them selves, and a manager that doesn't think he can win a game with 35 % possession, 2 shots on target and a team full of defenders . Southgate has to go now.

If he does not this is what will happen, and by all means screen shot this as come December it will have come true. England will beat the third rate countries they have in their group, score 5 or 6 in the three games, not conceded. Harry Maguire will be the best defender in the world again as he kept the Iranian shop keeper and insurance salesman quite. Kane will be Englands greatest goal scorer as he has scored 4 penalties and a tap in in the group. Then we will play France or Portugal or Spain etc in the last 16 get spanked off the park and Southgate will sit there and tell us to have faith as we made a semi final 4 years ago and a final last year . Despite the fact in those tournaments England played more dross and lost to the decent teams when they faced them. he's a joke. Englands performances are a joke. And I can't wait till this total corncrake is over.

WDW, there are certain managers that should NEVER be allowed to near a mic without adult supervision. Southgate is one of those managers and you can add Lampard and Rodgers to that list.

The guy is clueless. We all know it. We all see it BUT the media has been gaslighting us about how good he was at the last WC where England had the weakest path to the semis and at the Euros where England virtually hosted the darn thing playing most of the games at Wembley. Now that the going has gotten tough, the truth many tried to ignore is out now and they don’t know how to deal with it. Not surprised at all.

This would have to be a one of the most stupid decisions Liverpool have ever made if true! We are literally months away from getting his wage bill off our books. Just let him go at the end of the season and try and forget about him asap!

11.) 25 Sep 2022
25 Sep 2022 09:08:13
Maybe they are just sticking to replacing Hendo, Jones, Millie and Ox like some think will happen. Maybe they are offering reduced wages, who knows?

12.) 25 Sep 2022
25 Sep 2022 09:10:54
Naby who?

13.) 25 Sep 2022
25 Sep 2022 10:11:18
Let it go Jude your sly digs are pathetic! Milly ox Keita Jones and maybe hendo be gone next season.

14.) 25 Sep 2022
25 Sep 2022 10:33:07
Hendo's played in 63 of our last 71 games, hardly the stats of someone about to be binned. And on Jones there's 32 league games of the season left, at least let's see how he gets on this saason before we decide whether he'll be here for next.

15.) 25 Sep 2022
25 Sep 2022 10:38:46
They should get rid of the whole midfield bar Thiago Fabinho Elliot Carvalho n Bajcetic.
Brutal but I want Liverpool back on top we’ve wasted too much time, too many windows, too much wages.
Think Bastion of invincibility.

I don’t believe anything in that report. Naby is gone in the summer, IMO.

17.) 25 Sep 2022
25 Sep 2022 11:25:40
What about Morton Liverpool FC8? We have lost 4 or 5 mids for considerable periods of time since the start of August. If you are planning on having 5 mids what’s your Plan B? If as I suspect Plan B is to bring in 4 or. 5 mids who are they and who’s paying for them? Just asking.

6 Times - have you not done that already after watching the international? At least none of ours came back injured.

The amortisation when Keita’s contract is up means he will have been paid for.
Say Liverpool offer him a £5 million contract per year for three years, that’s the new cost to the club.
Sign him up and hope he has a resurgence of some form and you get to loan and / or sell him in the duration of his new contract to make a ‘book profit’.
Chelsea were excellent at this type of thing.

20.) 25 Sep 2022
25 Sep 2022 13:19:38
We can't pay for 4 or 5 West, simple as! and don't need to either, the first choice three still puts it up to anyone and if say someone like Bellingham came in he would replace Hendo in that 3 who would then become more of a squad player. At a stretch if one other man came in we would be totally sorted but if not we'd be ok with Elliott, Jones et all.

21.) 25 Sep 2022
25 Sep 2022 13:20:23
Jude Jones wouldn’t get a start for the top 15 teams in the league!
Hendo has great stats I love the man but his injuries are persistent and we can’t be sentimental!
I’d love Bellingham 100% but no way will we splash that money when all the top clubs are in for him and we will need a load of new players!
As for Keita pffft!

22.) 25 Sep 2022
25 Sep 2022 14:08:53
Hendos missed 8 games since the start of last season, probably wasnt even injured for some of them just rested. Played 57 games last year i think that was the most at the club. Jones for me EASILY gets into a lot of the top 15 teams in the league, think he's an excellent pkayer doing what the coach wants. He's a young player, read somewhere the other day him and Gerrards stats at the same age were very very similar (not saying he's going to be near a Gerrard), Jones more than anything just needs to stay fit.

23.) 25 Sep 2022
25 Sep 2022 15:08:53
Liverpool are definitely in for Bellingham and will pay what’s necessary as he has a resale value, even if he were to sign for 5 years say.
And Henderson is crucial to attracting Bellingham, so Hendo is not going anywhere Jay imo.

24.) 25 Sep 2022
25 Sep 2022 17:40:18
100% Juicer, and even if he never ended up moving we would be getting a fantastic player for 15 years.

25.) 25 Sep 2022
25 Sep 2022 18:43:25
The jury is very much out on Jones. I think he's closer to being sold next summer than being a part of our future. Carvalho and Elliott look ahead of him to me. Jones doesn't track his runners, slow to release the ball much like Gini before him. I don't see that Jones has progressed the last two seasons. As for Keita get shut. No point throwing good money after bad.

26.) 25 Sep 2022
25 Sep 2022 19:31:48
Juicer you have knowledge of us being in for Bellingham? I don't see us competing; not unless it's 2024 and he's into his last year. He'll end up at City, United, Chelsea or in Spain.

27.) 26 Sep 2022
25 Sep 2022 22:16:26
Ed001 Redflyer.

28.) 26 Sep 2022
26 Sep 2022 00:33:52
Nah can’t see Jone going personally. He’s been injured plus Milner will be gone probs Naby and Thiago although brilliant is starting to get on. Hendo also getting on so can’t see us getting rid of one of our youngest midfielders. Personally I don’t see anything Elliot is doing that Jones can’t. Just needs a run in the team.

29.) 26 Sep 2022
26 Sep 2022 07:35:33
How do you judge if someone is starting to ‘get on’?

I’d say the two best football brains at the club (at least in terms of the playing staff) are Thiago and Bobby. They just don’t run about like headless chickens is all.
