I've read the statement made by FSG and nowhere in it can I see they are looking to sell the club.

Yeah it just looks like what they've always said, they open to minority shareholder investing in club. In saying that David ornstein v v reliable to my knowledge of him, couldn't see him making up stuff either.

{Ed002's Note - It has come from a FSG Press Release.}

I haven't read the statement, and it would make no sense to me whatsoever for FSG to be selling now. There's a declared strategy to grow the group in terms of teams and sports. They've brought in new capital for this expansion (Redbird Capital), and a lot of noise was made about LeBron James joining in and Nike supporting him. Just last week, one of the directors said they wanted further expansion of Anfield after the Anfield stand. So with all this going on, it would be highly surprising if selling would be considered now.

Agree. It reads as though they looking for investors. However, instructing two major US investment banks suggests a bit more than looking for minority holders.

True but it also doesn’t state they aren’t either.

It’s a very status quo type of statement - nothing has changed.

They could have outright said the club is not for sale. They didn’t.

FSG can still be fully committed to the club whilst they try and sell it. That isn’t necessarily mutually exclusive.

ArAy what further expansion are they looking at? I was always under the impression that this was it with regards to expansion. Hope they can as Liverpool would sell out 70k every game easily.

{Ed002's Note - That won't happen.}

Looks like there's precious little worth talking about here in those.

I disagree. I’ve said many times I can see FSG looking to sell Liverpool when the new stand is finished.
I think we’re starting to see the beginning of that process imo.

If and it’s a big if the club is sold and say it goes to the Middle East I wonder how many LFC fans would be no more. Seen quite a few boycotting the World Cup over them so suppose it would be double standards to support them if they owned the club.

Cobra, I have my doubts any further expansion can happen because the roads and houses are tight next to the stadium. There would be too much of a backlash from residents, and getting all the additional infrastructural permissions and works done would be prohibitive. I was just quoting what that director said.

It will happen at some point.

That statement is a complete nothing statement. ‘We are still committed blah blah’ ‘we would consider new shareholders if the terms are right blah blah’. Standard press release to something like this.

I do think there’s a subtle shift in it though. Last time they said they would consider a minority investor this time they are saying they would consider ‘new shareholders’ … is that total new? As in replace them.

It neither confirms or denies an outright sale. Ed2 will know more than most on this so I’m with him…. They are looking to sell.
