Well I think Man U have become the Arsenal
Of old (sorry ed14) ? just been over the Man U page and they are all now saying losing 7-0 to your biggest rivals isn’t a big deal as they may achieve top 3! Amazing what a trophy after 6 years and a potential top 4 finish does to these fans.

Man U the new we got top 4 trophy contenders while arsenal are tanning the league.

I’d rather finish top 4 and lose 7-0 that win 7-0 and finish 5th.

2.) 08 Mar 2023

They’re very similar to early 2010s Arsenal have been for years. Tidy team and they’ll get top 4 most years but they’re soft and mentally weak.

I'd rather win 7-0 and support Liverpool than lose 7-0 and support Manchester United.

I would rather win 7:0 and finish top 4……. and maybe beat Real Madrid 4:0 as well!

@Onekiss, past Arsenal teams - for the last decade - have lacked a bit of steel and that’s meant they haven’t had enough confidence in themselves. A combination of things have changed (slowly at first) since Arteta arrived and particularly since he gave his head a bit of a wobble and started to play Saliba. Whatever the changes they are now a confident squad (and the win against Bournemouth reminded me of us a couple of years back when we picked up the knack of never giving in) .

Arsenal 2022/ 23 are a different kettle of fish.

I think Arsenal have been fortunate all season but especially in recent weeks. Their form has massively dipped but they are getting the rub of the green which is seeing them through. That can’t continue forever.

They need to pick up or these last minute wins will turn into draws and losses. The one thing on their side is that City aren’t they same team this year although I do expect City’s superior quality and experience to overtake Arsenal.

I could see Arsenal’s season ending with a bit of a whimper to be honest as they run out of steam.

I’m sure most Arsenal fans would’ve taken a title challenge and 2nd place after how last season finished for them though.

08 Mar 2023 23:22:37
I’ve thought the same all season Becker’s, they keep proving me wrong though. I’m still going to think they’ll bottle it though in the hope they’ll prove me wrong.

It’d be very good for the league for City to not win it again this season. Especially after paying Haaland a gazillion pounds a week and him finishing on more than double anyone else’s goal tally.

There’d be a lot of head scratching going on. Which I think would be very entertaining.

I agree with FootyFan. We have been saying since the beginning of the season that this Arsenal team would run out of steam and that Man City would overtake them. And yet, here we are 25 games into the season and Arsenal still top the table with 5 points to spare.

After that Bournemouth match where they went two goals down and still managed to win the match, I honestly believe that they have the mental aptitude needed to go all the way. Finding a way to win when your form has dipped is a sign of champions and I believe that Arsenal has shwon it so far.

You can't just dismiss it as 'rub of the green' since we were similar to them when we were winning and challenging too.

I agree Arsenal this season are very much the real deal one hell of a talented young squad they'll do well in the Champions League next season too.

Getting tanked 7-0 by your biggest rivals isn’t easy to swallow but United are on for a very good season. League Cup winners and a very good chance of 2 other trophies. Win those and I’m sure they will be able to live with getting whopped 7.

11.) 09 Mar 2023

Ps / it’s worth noting if liverpool can’t win it - I’d prefer the gunners to win it.

How long did it take for us to recover conceding 7 against Villa?

The challenge to Utd will be their bounce back now.

As it currently stands Utd are having a better season than us. Hopefully by the end of the season that is still not the case.

13.) 09 Mar 2023
09 Mar 2023 09:58:27
JK, top 3 is certainly achievable even though, in my opinion, the odds against it are greater than for it. Is 7 points behind ManU such a high mountain to climb? All depends on how good a motivator Seven Hag is. Is he the strict disciplinarian who knows only how to use the stick, or is he the clever manipulator like Mourinho who uses both carrot and stick? We'kk find out this weekend.

14.) 09 Mar 2023
09 Mar 2023 09:59:55
OP, you ain't never lied. You should go to Utd fan channels on youtube and see the absolute state of denial that they are in, convincing themselves of the utter ridiculous that them losing SEVEN nil at Anfield with Fergie watching in the stands is no big deal. They have come up with the utter rubbish excuses like tiredness, lack of rotation, bla, bla, bla.

Th fact is that as the dope boys say in the States, "Utd were getting high off their own supply". They literally deluded themselves that they were back and that LFC were on the decline just cos they won a trophy and being higher than us in the table forgetting that they have been dreadful for the past 5 years. They mistook the word decline for transition meaning, we can still BATTER and SLAUGHTER any and ALL bums who rock up at Anfield not showing respect and that is what happened to 7-Hag and his flops.

They rocked up at Anfield with their heads in the clouds and then, we essentially woke them up. We brought them back to the reality that states, "We still own you". Utd need to humble themselves cos if they are not careful, we could still bump them off 3rd sot and that would be legendary.

How the fans react to the next defeat is probably going to be interesting. They had been getting some lucky results recently so there was always a chance that a reality check was going to come along soon.

They are definitely better than they were under Ole. However, much of that is down to Eriksen and Casemiro coming in and adding a bit of nouse, Ronaldo being moved on and the taking Maguire out of the team.

Longer term - ETH will want to eventually implement his own system again as he ditched that after the trouncing at Brentford. Since then, starting with the game against us at OT, they have been playing OleBall - deep defensive line and counterattacking football, utilising Rashford best.

It'll be when he has to transition to a higher defensive line we will really see where United are in their development.

17.) 09 Mar 2023
09 Mar 2023 08:16:05
I’ve been thinking- the sign of champions is not playing well and still winning. Finding a way/ getting rub of the green whatever it is - winners have it. Now that said I do think they ll bottle it, but this year City are nowhere near as strong as previous years, so even with a few random losses I still think they might sneak it. For ed14 great to see a club who have been in premiership wilderness for 20 odd years competing for the league again, it’s kind of like that year Leicester won it….

18.) 09 Mar 2023
09 Mar 2023 11:31:22
Aray 100% top 3 is still on the table mate. It’s up to the squad now to keep performing and getting those 3 points.

We’ve got City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs to come so we’ll need to ensure we are on top of our game. Plus add in Forest, Leeds, Brentford and Fulham where we need to right 4 wrongs.

19.) 09 Mar 2023
09 Mar 2023 11:17:38
Pelican, that's the thing. The way Utd play is NOT the way SEVEN Hag wants to play. The guy was an assistant to Pep at Bayern and at Ajax, the ethos from the days of Rinus Mechels to Johan Cruyff to Louis Van Gaal is to dominate the ball, press high, pass out the back and keep possession. This Utd team cannot do that so he has had to adapt.

Now that has it's issues cos the team still has holes in it and it shows when they play away from home vs the big teams who have better players and better tactical schemes. They are better now than they were under Ole BUT really, is that even a bar to judge them esp with how wretched a manager Ole was?

Utd have indeed done well BUT you have to realise that they were so dreadful last season that there was NO bar for them going into this season so any type of improvement would be seen as big while ignoring that they had spent 230m in the summer. And for them to think that thy have suddenly overtaken us is the type of delusion that got them SEVEN'ed last week. They are nowhere NEAR us all things being equal cos our team may be in transition BUT on it's day, can KNOCK the block off any bum that it comes up against.

20.) 09 Mar 2023
09 Mar 2023 11:40:57
I hate to say it but the Gooners have done brilliantly. I don't rate Arteta but have to admit that he's got this bunch playing with verve, swagger and aggression - much like we had in 18/ 19. Odegaard, Saliba and Saka have really stepped up to the plate.

The only thing I would say is that the intensity they are applying and Arteta is displaying could peak out before the end of the season. Going blow for blow with City in the final run-in has proven difficult for all opponents to date.

I suspect the head to head with City will be another defining game.

21.) 09 Mar 2023
09 Mar 2023 13:13:57
Spot on, Pelican. Arteta for me, has simply spent 450m or so since he came in until things stuck and he got it right. Certain managers don't need nor get to spend that much before getting it right or even getting sacked BUT that's a diff. story altogether.

I agree with you that the high tempo style they are playing could come back to bite them esp with Thurs. Night footie now back. I just saw a stat that says that NO PL team has won the title while playing Thurs. Night footie. Even Klopp had to tone things down after 17/ 18 when we made the CL final cos our legs were gone in that final vs RM and were running on fumes. We shall see how they deal with the run-in.

22.) 09 Mar 2023

Olired,

You must be the most irritating poster on this page, and that’s saying something with Mighty reds. You just talk tripe mate. Who are all these people saying we’re now “better” than Liverpool and overtook them already? I haven’t seen or heard anyone. What people have said is we’re better this year than you are, and one result doesn’t change that. The league table and a trophy tells everyone that, as fact. Sorry if you can’t take that, but the league doesn’t lie, this season United have been better than Liverpool. Simple.

Ten hag has had 6 months in the job, and as you say we were wretched last season and beyond, where we’re you under klopp in his first 6 months? Did you have silverware? A result like that is horrible, but it’s just 3 points. You’ve short memories, was it last year or the year below you got token 7 by Villa? I mean you conceded 5 at home in 45 mins just last week.

I have no problem with views but you spouting what people are saying when it’s nonsense is just irritating. And just for the record, with Klopp who’s one of your best ever managers, and one of your best ever teams the past 4-5 years, you’ve won one premier league. Hardly amazing in a 7 year tenure is it, pipe down.

23.) 09 Mar 2023

Stand-United, saying it like it is ??.

24.) 09 Mar 2023

Klopp took over a squad much worse than MU's and didn't spend 250 mil pounds in his first transfer window. ETH has done well but hardly performed miracles. He is a decent coach and a massive upgrade on the disaster that was Ole at the wheel. Personally I would take thrashing MU 7-0 and finishing 7th over top 3 or 4. No one who witnessed the historic 7-0 will ever forget it. MU fans' coping mechanism working overdrive this week me thinks.

{Ed025's Note - come on rambo, sooner finish 7th and beat united that get CL football??, give your head a wobble mate..

25.) 09 Mar 2023
09 Mar 2023 19:27:02
I get what you are saying Stand but you simply can’t say that United have been better until the season is finished. Yes the league table doesn’t lie (I actually believe it lies a lot, quite often. Mainly due to the poor standard of refereeing but that’s another discussion) but you can’t pitch one team against another until all teams have played each other home and away.

It’s like me saying we are better than Utd because we’ve scored 8 goals against them this season and they’ve only scored 2 against us. There’s logic in that but it doesn’t tell the full story.

We had Utd, Arsenal, Spurs, Everton, Brighton and Brentford away in the first half of the season and dropped points in all of them. If we’d had them all at home in the first half of the season we’d likely be in 3rd place now with no talk of a crisis.

My point is, looking at the table with 13 games left tells you nothing.

{Ed025's Note - it does really BP, it tells you that at this moment in time united are a better side than liverpool, if liverpool head them in the table then that is reversed, its not rocket science mate..

26.) 09 Mar 2023
09 Mar 2023 20:08:59
How's your Man Utd party going now Ed025?
The champagne has gone flat, no?
I told you they were a counter attack team (c-ack for short), they've improved from last season but a million miles from Sir Alex's best sides.

{Ed025's Note - im not a united fan juicer but i do give credit where its due, you cant get past it because its Manchester United mate, i know a lot of reds feel that way but i prefer not to hate anyone because they come from a different city or support a different team..maybe its just me..

27.) 09 Mar 2023
09 Mar 2023 20:20:05
What about the trophy they have in the bag BP and the 2 they are still in for? Surely that counts too?

28.) 10 Mar 2023
09 Mar 2023 21:06:07
Does that mean we can’t say we’re having a better season than Everton then until the season ends.

{Ed025's Note - absolutely JK..

Stand United, go on line and watch your own fans give it the big-un before the game. Cos you never heard about it does NOT mean it didn't happen so get out of your own bubble. You had Rio, Scholes and even Gary Neville talking smack before the game so again, get out more and see the world. Your own fans were slating your own manager for being arrogant in his lineup and not making changes after it was 3/ 4 nil up to limit the damage. Sorry bro, you are shooting the messanger. As for us getting 7 off Villa, Villa are not our biggest rivals. YOU ARE. You would be wise to know the difference.

SEVEN Hag is a good manager BUT his line up sparked of arrogance and Im not saying it. YOUR own fans are saying it. That is a fact so attacking me is just a distraction to deflect from the shambles your team served up.

As for you saying I talk utter tripe. I just engaged in banter and clearly, you cannot handle it just like Gary Neville couldn't handle it when he was acting all petulant like a spoilt brat when Souness and Carra were poking fun at him on Sky. As for Klopp who has won EVERYTHING with LFC, your own GOAT manager wanted him to replace him and it was his wife (NOT him) who rejected you and told him not take the job. The ULTIMATE L a club can take. Bro, I can keep going cos you are nothing but comedy material for me, son.

An one last thing, you must think I care about what a Utd fan thinks of me on this forum. News Flash: I couldn't give an utter toss what you or any other Utd fan thinks of me. You got SEVEN'ed at Anfield and that will live forever. Deal with it, bro. Peace and Love.

I’m a united fan same as Stand and post on the Mu page regularly and read across the site regularly. For me Neville and Keane pre game is just banter but post match for me Neville was cringe. As for posters, there has been people calling out Bruno imo rightly so, and critical of our performance but also you read and there’s those who give Liverpool props where it’s deserved, they were the better team on the day no doubt. But the season goes on, we’ve bounced back well vs Betis last night and we sit 3rd in the league with a trophy, we had a bad result but it’s bout how we carry on responding and hopefully it’s a wake up call. Most united fans have respect for klopp tbh, he has done wonders at your club but let’s not get carried away, unfortunately for you he’s come up against Pep, I’ve no doubt you’ll be back next season but in 6 months ten hag (not seven hag) has also worked wonders, lots of work to do still and lots hanging over us regards a takeover. After the 7-0 I was angry but since I can see it could have physchologically damaged us but we beat Betis, we need to beat Saints next and I believe in what ten hag is doing so am quite happy still altho imo anyone who says oh it’s only 3 points and wasn’t angry at some of the behaviour of Bruno etc. need to give their head a wobble, it’s our biggest rivals you can’t lose 7-0 to them but concentrate on yourselves, it is just 1 match in 38. For what it’s worth, I’ve huge respect for Liverpool and klopp, yourselves and United are the 2 biggest clubs around with real traditions and history, that’s why the defeat hurt so much. Good luck vs Bournemouth, hope you lose x.

Yes Ed25 I do absolutely. Making history beats qualifying for the CL for a season. I'm not a fan of the top 4 trophy. The 7-0 carnage is unforgetable. No one will remember the year we got top 4 in 27 years time, but I bet the 7-0 is etched in memory.

{Ed025's Note - im not having that rambo, it was a one off freak result where everything that could go wrong for united did, qualifying for the CL keeps you current and helps with finances and player recruitment mate, also do you really want to be travelling to slovakia on a cold thursday night next season?, i think your being very short sighted there if you dont mind me saying..
