Just wanted to give my thoughts on the current rumours regarding Henderson and Fabinho.

It would be a big shift in policy from Klopp and the club, but if we can get circa £50m for the pair and bring in two additional midfielders (Lavia and a proven starter), I think it would make a lot of sense.

We have all moaned about Klopp being too sentimental and letting the squad get old and stale. We have also lost too many of our experienced players on free transfers and this would give much needed money to fund the rebuild.

It is a big loss of experience, but neither are going to get any better, and why not do all the rebuild this summer and let the new squad fully gel. Rather than do some this year and then those two (and possibly Thiago etc) go next year for free or a significantly lower fee.

We have enough quality and leadership across the squad and we have seen with City losing captains in Kompany, Fernandinho and Gundogan, that sometimes the hard choice at the right time is the best way to go.

Just my thoughts, but I do feel we need at least one top option to come in to make it good business.

Good post mate.

My concern would be that Hendo and Fabs leave to balance the books for our already 2 new signings.

If one of or both Hendo and Fab then quality has to be brought in to replace and give us a strong squad.

I'm of similar ilk to above post, us lfc fans have constantly criticised Klopp for "too much loyalty" in his players and be more ruthless. Henderson was an absolute legend for this club amd the years of service he put in and what he won won't go un noticed by a lot of the supporters but as a logical point, he 33 has been on the decline for last 12 months and maybe wants a nice pay day b4 he sets off in sun with his family? I think he deserves (and by looks of it lfc do to) what he wants to do. I don't think we will make it a difficult move if he requests it and I don't think we will force him out either. Choice will be his. Unfortunately loosing a captain and a vice captain in one summer could bite us in backside, but could also be the making of one (TAA anyone) we will just have to wait and see. I just hope if reports are to be believed and we considering selling fabinho aswel that the money is invested well. Lavia looks a good player but if I'm not mistaken only has about 18 prem games under his belt. I'm not against signing him just hope we get another one with a bit more experience about them to help steady what could be a turbulent season ahead.

It feels like way too much change in one go, but like falling in love, you can’t choose when it happens to you. If we are being offered the chance to get substantial fees for our declining assets, we should take it, even if the timing isn’t perfect.

I do wonder whether both of them leaving would prompt a further two midfield signings, rather than one. Shedding five midfielders and bringing in another four sounds like lunacy.

Exactly, AW. I am not sure the club previewed this whole Hendo or even Thiago conundrum happening because right at the end of last season, the club came out and said that Matip, Thiago and Kellherher were staying. Hendo and Fab were not even mentioned.

Now we have Thiago and possibly Hendo leaving (Fab ain't going nowhere, IMO) so it seems the club was caught on the hop. We already lost Milner as a leader and strong influence in the DR. We cannot lose Hendo too cos that makes no sense on a leadership level, IMO. Now if he wants to go then by all means, let him go. Same for Thiago. But we should not be trying to run Hendo (and Fab) outta town either, IMO.

As for the replacements, Im not bothere about that cos for me, we should not sell both Hendo and Milner in one window. That's way too much, IMO.

Like if we play hypotheticals which are always fun. We could sell Thiago hendo and fabinho and bring in Lavia and Thuram.

That would leave our midfield as:

MacA
Jones
Szoboszlai
Thuram
Harvey
Lavia
Baj

I think that is done from oldest to youngest as well unless I'm missing someone.

Technically could this team get through the year? I'm not sure it's borderline and would be a huge risk relying not only on these young players but also on none of them picking up injuries really.

Would be crazy to go from one of the oldest midfields in the league to possibly the youngest midfield squad ever in the league?

I do agree that it seems like a lot to do in one window and both will be a big loss.

But it has to be done sooner rather than later. We can't have loads of ageing players on big wages not contributing. We have VVD, Salah, Matip, Thaigo, Hendo and Fabinho all on massive contracts, all of whom will need replacing over the next couple of years.

Without the alleged £50m or so, how much money will we need to replace that many quality players?

People call for Gvradiol, Tchoumeni etc, but there isn't a bottomless pit of money, so I would take the funds whilst we can and reinvest into younger players.

Will be tough to say goodbye as they have both played such a massive part in us winning the lot, but maybe it is the right time.

why isn't fab going? He's the most likely to go, since he's been so so for a while, and is worth the most. A new, more mobile player coming in should improve the play right away.

yet to see Klopp bring in a midfielder who settled straight away. Guess he's up for a challenge.

We will need another 2 midfielders now he’s agreed to leave.

If we manage to get 50m for Fabinho and Henderson, take it, run, and don’t stop. We should then attempt to sign either Tchouameni or Caicedo. Forget Thuram, the former two are world class midfielders who would do well at Liverpool. Caicedo would have the added bonus of wrecking Chelsea’s summer transfer plans to a large extent.

{Ed002's Note - Good old Liverpool and the schadenfreude. It is a pity they cannot find the right players, negotiate and buy them.}

Sounds like Hendo is pushing for the move as he’s agreed terms and it’s over to LFC to decide.

If it was any other footballer outside of our club we wouldn’t be selling he’s moving for first team football or the euros.

There’s only one reason players go to Saudi and I’m not saying that’s right or wrong as it’s totally up to them. I’m just saying that’s the truth of it.

Is it to late to offer contracts to Milly, Naby and Ox?

TWRed_92, I hear you esp. on your first paragraph and you know, things can really change in football very quickly but it just seems too much, too soon and all coming in at the same time.

Thanks heavens, Klopp and the club are paid to handle such things and not me.

I think this is sort of exciting and terrifying at the same time. The exciting part is getting to see a new and younger midfield. The terrifying part is that all of the top experience would be leaving. That said, Salah, VVD, Robbo and others staying will be a good test of leadership for them.

It's my hope that arriving players have the experience and leadership qualities to succeed. That's the hope of most transfers. Alexis has the experience of the PL, Szobolai (sp? ) Has top flight and CL experience.

I hope the club goes back in for Thuram if possible, and then a couple other options. It'll be interesting to see what new options present themselves as well.

Exciting times ahead.
