I’m not bothered about caciedo choosing Chelsea, it happens to every club at some point. Plus I don’t like his attitude and Chelsea are more used to mercenaries.

What’s annoying is the total lack of a plan to get the two-three players in that we need to compete.

Before Liverpool bid for him, everyone knew he wanted Chelsea or even Madrid. If he has signed for Liverpool I guarantee none of this “mercenary” or “attitude” nonsense would be talked about.

What surprised me is was it even asked if the WANTED to play for Liverpool before bidding? You would guess so but maybe he had a change of heart ?‍♂️.

Spot on @Irish. Caicedo on the pitch is a world beater. Easily the best destroyer / ball winner in the league by a distance. Whoever gets him gets a brilliant player.

Listen we only want players who want to play for liverpool money shouldn't come into it a mean would you play for Everton for 50 grand winning nothing or kiverpool for 40 grand with a damp good chance of winning things plus who wouldn't want that liver bird on their chests.

There is no way in heck we would have bid 200m plus for a player and did not have any assurances from his reps and entourage that he wanted to come. Not in a million years. I don’t know near anything about transfers BUT I know that much cos it is just that basic.

IMO, the guy and his agent tried to pull a fast one by accepting to come to us in a bid to get Chelsea step in and act fast cos Chelsea had been lowballing Brighton with inadequate bids all window meaning, they didn’t think he was worth the 100m to begin with. Which tells me, they ain’t got dough like that cos if they did, they would have signed him before the deadline set by Brighton.

We move on but I say we don’t withdraw our offer. If they want Caicedo, they should outbid our offer and we’re good. Till then, no flips given. He’s Chelsea’s and esp Brightons problem now. We did what was required by Brighton thru out the process.

I haven't read that Caicedo has said that he doesn't want to play for Liverpool, I've only read that he has said that he wants to keep his word with Chelsea, the two are different. However, I 'assume' he was asked, or his agent was asked, if he would like to join us before we made an offer.
Personally, I would put this quickly behind us and move swiftly on an for Luis, Inacio and Gravenberch.
