Carragher on FNF saying that £150m bid for Salah would be hard to turn down.
When we sold Pip Coutinho, Klopp was basically given the money received to strengthen the squad, VVD, Ali and Fab were brought in.
Would Salah's fee be re-invested into the squad? I'd welcome funds to rebuild our defence mostly LCB RCB DM positions.
Would Salah need a direct replacement? Elliott and Doak could potentially fill the void.
It's all Devil's advocate at the moment but a £150m bid for a player who turns 32 next Summer must be considered?

Not a chance for me. Be near on impossible to replace under any circumstances, never mind with lads who are fresh out of nappies. Nearly all of our goals, he either scored, or assists and we’d do well to finish top half. If they’re planning on selling him next summer, we must bring in a replacement in January to give time to bed in the replacement or we’ll just be going backwards.

Has Elliott played at right wing for us in the premier league?

It’s a lot of goals and assists to replace that my worry.

The word legend gets banded about too easily but For me Salah has been a Liverpool one.

£150 million in todays market gets you nothing really.

The money would be reinvested. The problem is we have only a few days left in this window, and despite seemingly having another 90m available to spend, we're having difficulty spending that. So realistically we'd make do without the investment in the squad until at least January.

You can't directly replace Salah because he's so good. But it'd be a big ask of Elliot and Doak to become first choice even without that burden.

Coutinho wasn’t the goal scorer to be fair. Salah will score 30 odd goals again this season and he will if he’s here next season and the one after that. I think he can move more centrally and perform until he’s 36/ 37. Let’s say we got 150m. He’d be very difficult to replace. We should be spending big on CB and DM regardless of Salah being here.

Turns 32 next summer, as in he has just turned 31 don't you mean? 32 sounds older of course though ?.

7.) 25 Aug 2023
25 Aug 2023 21:00:25
I wouldn't pay too much attention to anything Jamie Carragher says.

8.) 25 Aug 2023
25 Aug 2023 21:01:51
One big reason to turn the Salah money down is how likely they are to offer it again next summer.

9.) 25 Aug 2023
25 Aug 2023 21:25:56
For that money I would sell him. Mainly because he could well go at the end of the season any way and maybe for a lot less money.
We can’t get a like for like replacement because there isn’t one that comes close but again it is something that will need to be addressed in the near future. Better to do it with £150. million in my opinion.

Carra can say whatever he wants, to me he is just trying to feed the media-driven narrative that LFC is in some kind of disarray whereas we are from from that. The club and Klopp have said he is not for sale and Klopp said in his presser that whatver happens from the Saudis, the answer will be No.

Also, it's about time these Saudis put their oil money where their mouths are and send a bid over so we can see if they mean business rather than talking all that mess with no actions to back it up. And they'd better hurry up cos with every passing day, their window becomes tigher with the TW ending in about a week. And Jan is a non starter, btw.

I did see some spit come out when he was waffling.

Lost all respect for him since the incident.

Complete clown.

25 Aug 2023 21:21:47
Why wouldn’t it be reinvested? Would it be done before end of window or next window will depend on timing and availability of a suitable replacement. If we sell him then, whilst not ideal, it may bring about some balance to our attackers and provide opportunity for others.

13.) 25 Aug 2023
25 Aug 2023 21:28:42
Personnel I would take £150 million now, we would prob only get half as much nxt summer, forget the arguement about not having time to replace him, you can't replace salah but i thinkwe have enough forward optioms to still bring in enough goals.

14.) 25 Aug 2023
25 Aug 2023 21:32:09
It would have been an easier decision at the beginning of the window when we could have gone out and bought Bellingham and Gvardiol and whoever else, but not now.

When Cara and Neville talk, you should close both ears so you don't hear the filth that comes out their mouths

They always say controversial things in order to get tongues wagging.

The 2 biggest idiots yet they're given the biggest platforms.

16.) 25 Aug 2023
25 Aug 2023 22:06:27
I actually like listening to them I’m surprised I like Gary Neville . I wouldn’t call them idiots I think g nev is far from being a idiot. It’s no use getting het up over a rumour.

17.) 25 Aug 2023
25 Aug 2023 22:06:43
Indeed, JLCBM and Northernbeasle. It would even be better if what Carra and Neville say is what they actually think. It's not. They are told what to say and what opinions they should have depending on what their overlords want and what agenda they want to push.

And when the facts channe, will they come back abd apologise for their bad takes and to the people they went after? No. They'll make up some goofy schstick to avoid having to admit they ar and have been wrong on a number of issues.

As for the Salah situation, the Saudis need to bid for him so we can get this ball rolling. Until that happens, this is all white noise and a distraction.

The transfer window in Saudi closes on 20 Sep.

If Caicedo is worth £115m then they better double it for Salah.

20.) 26 Aug 2023
25 Aug 2023 22:58:26
@Something Red, it’s not a case of us ‘seemingly having another 90m to spend’. It just doesn’t work like that. We bid £111m for Caicedo because we thought that was what he was worth, we bid £55m for Lavia because that was what we thought he was worth. We bid £16+m for Endo because that was what he thought he was worth. It’s just not as simple as having a fixed amount of money and it’s not as simple as paying £111 or 55 or 16 million in a lump sum.

21.) 26 Aug 2023
25 Aug 2023 23:35:52
I have started disliking this guy more and more. I don't think I heard one bit of insightful commentary from Carra ever.

22.) 26 Aug 2023
25 Aug 2023 23:39:04
You can’t replace Salah but you can adapt a system to include a new player. We would evolve. Hard to replace but it’s happened before and it’ll happen again. It’s football.
£150 - £200 mill would be hard to turn down and one would hope it would be reinvested in players.

23.) 26 Aug 2023
26 Aug 2023 00:01:45
How do we know that carry and g. nev are told what to say? F-me this kind of drivel is so annoying. This tinhat stuff needs to be shelved. It’s just an opinion and to be fair it isn’t that different to what loads of fans are saying in here.

24.) 26 Aug 2023
26 Aug 2023 00:02:43
Elliot and Doak to replace Salah?
Salah is the one forward that we can't replace and we can't reinvest the money rebuild our defence and midfield in what's left of the transfer window.
Selling Salah would mean we'd have to rebuild the forward line as well!

25.) 26 Aug 2023
26 Aug 2023 02:05:12
forward line is well underway to being rebuilt. Would like to see the other team in the prem who has the quality and depth we have up front.

26.) 26 Aug 2023
26 Aug 2023 08:12:08
Forward is being rebuilt (although not in Salah’s position of RW admittedly) and whilst I don’t think we will be replacing Salah with a like for like, we can restructure to get more out of the squad, namely midfield. If the midfield chips in with more goals and assists that will cover what Salah provides. Midfield goals were practically non existent when we had Mane, Bobby and Salah as a front 3 because it wasn’t needed. It was the same when Coutinho left, we all felt we were stuffed because we were over reliant on him, and we went on to have the best period in our clubs history for over 30 years. Whatever happens, we’ll be fine.

27.) 26 Aug 2023
26 Aug 2023 08:28:04
Find his replacement before next summer then sell. Great money for a 32 year old. Club legend.

Faith, it’s easy. When I lived in the States, I met a guy who worked for CBS and he said before the NFL analysts, Talk show personalities or just TV people in general go on the air, they have what is called a Production Meeting where they hash out all the stuff in the agenda they will talk about on their shows. The same goes for any TV show you see. This is where the sausage is made so to speak.

Sky Sports has that and we all know how biased they are depending on who they want to bring up and who they want to tear down on that day. The same goes for any show you see on TV. So are they told what to say word for word? No. Are they told in what direction the show and the agenda should go to? Absolutely. Think about it. Why do you think Carra is mostly anti LFC esp when we are struggling and Neville is less so?

A bit like someone coming on here then and copying what the Ed’s say?
