With the midfield now settled, I'm sure defence will be next

The 4 key players are
- vvd
- Konate
- Gomez
- matip

With youth team members as cover and it seems Quasnah in the front of the queue

Matip will definitely need to be replaced come end of the season, hence am wondering what's our plan for VDB? He had a couple of successful loans but is off on loan again

Also I suppose we need to start thinking about replacing VVD too given his declining form and age

What May be a viable plan, factoring youth team members that can step up.

CB should be addressed this season.

Konate cannot be relied upon to keep fit.

I can't believe the powers that be looks at last season, looks at injury histories, looks at squad balance and does not have CB as one of the priorities.

Hopefully we get one done tomorrow. My transfer window review score depends on that very fact.

Me too Davey. It was as important to ensure CB was addressed this summer as CM was last summer.

We instead rely upon VVD and 1 of 3 because neither can either stay fit or play consistently. It’s the lack of foresight on transfers and squad development that I just don’t get with the management team/ club/ committee (if that’s even a thing anymore)

The powers that be = Klopp.

I am wondering if they are banking on Endos ability to play CB as cover.

Could it be that Endo is signed to cover defence as well?

If we’re being honest, the majority of the midfield rebuild should’ve been completed last summer.

And the start of the defensive rebuild should’ve began this summer. So technically we’re still behind in terms of competing for the title squad wise.

But we should have well enough now to compete for top 4 which I’m sure was the aim at the start of the season. Imo to compete for trophies we’d need at least one Centre Back on deadline day.

We need to keep Salah and secure a decent CB to compete this season
That’s what my assessment of the window will be based on.
Hincapie would be the close of a memorable window.

The squad has way more technical quality than before (Szoboszlai and MacAllister are two of the most technically accomplished midfielders Liverpool have ever had), but I have no idea what Klopp is thinking signing Gravenberch. I’m not entirely sure he does, either. Endo I’m prepared to accept as a replacement for Milner and Henderson, but the Gravenberch signing reeks of Klopp not making up his mind yet again, and being caught when he didn’t get his first choice player.

To be honest, I’m surprised Tsimi is still here. It’ll be interesting to see if Chambers goes out on loan again.

In regards to prepping for the future (rebuilding) the club were well ahead of themselves when it came to forwards and did it better than any other club in the league similar how Madrid are doing their midfield.

Jota and Diaz were brought in when Mane and Origi were still here and Nunez and Gakpo when Bobby was.

Our midfield rebuild is done but literally came at a time when the other midfielders were half way out the door or already left.

Looks like we’re going to do the centre back rebuild at the last mo as well.

Dslatt - If Gravenberch turns out to be as positively influential as Salah, I hold my hands up. The conditions of this transfer, however, seem altogether less organized than Salah’s, and rather than a shortlist put together to identify targets, this feels very scattergun. I also believe Salah’s acquisition relied on a lot of data (something Edwards was good at) that suggested his numbers were about to skyrocket. I doubt any such data exists for Gravenberch.

LoweLFC, I disagree re the scatter gun approach to this transfer. Grav has been on LFC's radar for well over 18 months now so him eventual signing is not some bolt from the blue here hence, I don't get the scatter gun approach you think this transfer was a product of. As for lists of targets, every club engages in such a process hence, no ground is being broken here. I don't get your reasoning on this transfer, Im sorry.
