Ed001 listening to Klopp in the press conference and him saying we have to learn from what has gone on so far this season. I wonder if the last 2 games when we have gone down to 10 men and we have gone back to a normal back 4 and he has seen how much better we luck we might go back to our old 433 formation. I think if we did we would have more goals in this team than we did in our previous team at its peak. I think are old front 3 most goals came from Salah and Mane Bobby was instrumental but never prolific and there was never a lot of goals from our midfield. But I think Salah Diaz Gakpo and Nunez all could end up with double figures and I think Mac allister and Szoboszlai have goals in them and could get close to double figures.

I think we’ve gone from a disappointing window now to a fair one. We did miss out on two key targets to Chelsea which was tough to bear.

Grino, I watched the presser as well so like you, we can only hope so.

A disappointing one for me. We had 4 problems to solve, and solved only one with Macca/ Dom.

We still have injury prone CBs, we lack a DM of sufficient quality and we are still overcomplicating the tactics.

This window (so far) leaves me a doubter, and not yet a believer.

I don't think there's a club in the world that couldn't improve its squad to some extent.

We’ve played 3 games and about 1.5 of them games with 10 men
I think the squad looks in decent state to be fair just be happier with another centre half . I have a feeling one is coming in I really do as I don’t see why Nat would be loaned out with konate and matip injury prone and Gomez not at the level he once was ( currently) I think another cb would make the most sense for a right good go at everything we are in ( cups Europe and league)

This time last year (plus a day) Melo was being bigged up as potentially the signing we never saw coming but the one that can make a difference.

In hindsight it was an absolute disaster.

Fast forward a year and it’s easy to be pleased or upset about the window but realistically we can’t judge the signings properly until at least next may.

Mac and Szob look the part so far but them and the rest of the squads season can only be fairly judged at the end of it.

I really hope so OP. Perhaps the penny has finally dropped and he has realised that maybe we should try and play the same way that won us everything? It is very odd to me that we likely would not have walked away with 7 points from 9 including 2 very difficult away games had we not had players sent off and been forced to change tactics. If it isn't obvious what the problem is then they all need the sack.
I'm no genius, and I understand that without continuous improvement you stagnate, but part of having an identity and style from the youth team through to the first team is what breeds a culture of playing and success therein and you then work to improve on it. We have wholesale changed and I am not sure why. It is like Klopp just decided to throw those first few years of implementing that style and culture out the window.
The biggest example of this for me was a couple of years back when our second string beat Everton's first team in the cup, with Jones scoring that corker of a goal past Pickford. The team knew what they were doing and played the same way as the first team would because that was the style. No chance in a month of leap years would that happen now.

Yep Rigsby, City will be improved after Christmas when KDB is back.

Dhfc. Perhaps klopp and his staff have big plans for Jarell Quansah. We don't see what's going on all the time so perhaps he's ripping it up in training. And after seeing our group for Europa I think it screams out for him, doak, Clark and a few others to play in the early rounds at least.

Why do people hang so much importance on new signings and constantly crave for them?

It’s much more efficient to improve on the training pitch and much more likely to actually improve the team.

Yes the new system has some flaws but so far it has been a great success. 11 wins and 3 draws from 14 league games will tell you that.

They just need to keep working on it in training to iron out the flaws and if they do we have a squad of players that can really do something special.

Metro - there can only be one Pelican.

Beckers pecker - do you think the work on the training pitch will make Ibou, Gomez and Matip less injury prone?

BP, I hear you but you got to love signings, tho. It's fun and keeps the excitement going before the season starts. Now when it goes OTT is when the fun goes out the window for me.

I don’t know Fly because I have no idea what the diagnosis of their injuries are.

If the medical team are telling Klopp that their injury issues are behind them then you could argue we don’t need anymore signings.

We only actually have one of them injured at the moment as VVD is suspended not injured so we still have 3 CBs to choose from for the Villa game assuming that Konate is even still injured.

I can’t believe people are still doubting endo? Ok he isn’t one for the future more for the now. But he only been here 5 mins played couple of games in a team that was a man down. If anything the only thing I could say bad about him is he is a jinx as we’ve had 2 red cards since he signed. Ludicrous? Yep just like writing him off after 2 games. I like him.

Sky have ruined it Oli they have made it into a game within a game. Next will be ‘who won the transfer window’ which is just a ridiculous concept made for gullible people who just lap it up.

Is there a more irritating sight than Jim White saying ‘the transfer window has slammed shut’ whilst wearing a yellow tie?

There is just far too much importance put on it these days.

I like endo, I think in time people will appreciate him. There’s way too much importance placed on splurging silly money on players because they’ve got “potential” or because they’ve had a good season.
Man Utd have spent crazy money over the last few years and I’d say Liverpool has a better team/ squad. Chelsea have gone ballistic spending a billion or so, time will tell how good they will be. You can spend as much as you like but you can only play 11 at a time and if those 11 play well as a team then that’s what matters.

18.) 01 Sep 2023

Chelsea outspent us last season and had their worst season in years. Which shows spending money with no plan doesn’t work.

However on the other hand Newcastle, Arsenal, Utd and city also outspent us and finished ahead of us.

Spending money doesn’t always work but in Premier league history the top 5 spenders are City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Utd and us.

And those 5 clubs have won every league title bar two.

Rigsby, yes he has shown it. He is currently the defacto Sporting Director and has presided over this window, which has failed to address CB and DM - two of the priority areas.

Who else is to blame for this?

As for Bajjer and Thiago coming back, I feel the same way about Godot.
