Edd001, I'm still not convinced by tje decision to sign gravenberch. Hopefully he gets better ten fold going forward but would you have kept the likes of carvalho and given him more of a chance this season especially regarding minutes and games?

{Ed001's Note - there would have been no point keeping Carvalho as Klopp clearly did not want to use him.}

Is this a troll. How can you be having a go at new signing who has scored one and provided two assists in three starts from midfield?

Interestingly, Ryan was born on May 16th 2002, whilst Fabio was born on August 30th 2002. There 3 1/ 2 months difference in their age. Neither is the finished article but RG is a fair bit more advanced in his development than FC at the moment.

We spent 30 plus million on a bench warmer. We had a very talented kid let go on loan. Gravenberch could turn out a good player but imo his signing was not needed if we gave carvalho a chance. But we didn't. Hopefully gravenberch will be a long term player.

MIZER, a very talented kid? Yeah, he is so talented that Klopp did not look his way when we were having a crap season and looked at Bajcetic who is equally as talented and took him. Sorry, that makes very little sense.

Carvalho was not ready to make the jump and he did not help himself with some of the stuff he was posting on socials either so he got sent out on loan. As for Gravenberch, he is a work in progress as he is still very young so let's see what happens.

I don't see how Gravenberch can be better than Pacqueta of Westham. We should bring in Pacqueta instead of Gravenberch.

{Ed001's Note - Paqueta would have cost 100m that's why City gave up on trying to sign him.}

I have been very impressed by him I have got to say never seen much of him before the move to us and going by what people where saying he was just average. Well from what I have seen he is anything but average strength, technique, driving with the ball great passing, intelligence on the ball. Another good signing from our club I remember the days when only 1 in 10 signings would be any good at all.

I am more worried about Endo he gets beat very easily for a DM and is very slow. This is still the problem position in our squad Mc Allister Trent and Endo are all not ideal in the position none really look right there and it may hurt us as the season goes on maybe Trinade in Jan will help. The rest of the squad looks fab and have to give a shout out to Joey Goey who has covered Trent exceptionally, so happy for him as I am one who has given him a lot of stick through the years but everyone knows he is better at RB.

We need to forget all the rubbish from last week and enjoy this team of fantastic professionals hopefully winning on Sunday before the dark medieval two weeks of international football.

So that 'Benchwarmer' is, I guess, likely to take Jones' place during his upcoming ban and had an excellent game last night. Some of our fans are awful.

Did you see what happened when we played Carvalho in midfield last season? It was like he wasn’t there. Him and Klopp had a falling out and the manager did not like his attitude. He needs to play in order to develop, Gravenberch is ready to play now. Whatever you think of him he is clearly far more useful to us than Carvalho ever would have been, and that’s before you begin talking about Carvalho’s attitude.

Two totally different players for me. They both got my full support 100% I was excited when we got carvalho but as has been pointed out he probably a year early with the state of our midfield not helping. I hope he comes back and gets another crack but have a feeling the club has moved on.

Carvalho couldn’t get in our team last season when our midfield was on its knees, he wanted to leave in the summer and he can’t even get in the Leipzig team now. Meanwhile Gravenberch has a goal and 2 assists already and was one of our best players last night. Bizarre post.

I’ve been quite impressed with him so far, you can see the lads got talent.
Based on what I’ve seen with us so far I’m not concerned, I think he’s got a question mark above his head but so does every signing until they are established.
Like someone else has posted the only signing that I’m concerned about is Endo, but hopefully he starts to convince us all, but to be honest I can only see him as a stop gap anyway, I’ve a feeling someone else will replace him at some point in the near future.

I thought the pairing of Konate and Quansah was really good, both young players really, and will keep on improving, I think that Quansah will replace Matip next season, with Matip contract up at the end of the season,
our average age is coming down, and midfield is so much better .

I honestly drool over Gravenberch’s first touch. He takes the ball on the half turn and drifts passed players into space.

The only thing I will say is he needs to learn not to try to do too much in possession. He runs into traffic a lot and loses the ball when a pass is on.

He lost the ball before the Spurs goal on Saturday when he should’ve just run it into the corner. That’s where his inexperience shows sometimes it he will learn that.

All in all it’s a decent start but I can’t wait to see him in 12 months time when he’s had a full season with us and a PL winners medal around his neck. With a bit more experience and the confidence that will give him he will be some player.

There's no comparison between what Carvalho did (with the 8 or 9 chances he got) and what Gravenberch is doing now (even though it's only 3 starts) . You can see Gravenberch has better ball control, better technique and plays with his head up (looking for someone to pass off to) . Gravenberch also looks like a more complete player, thus far in his develpment. No doubt Carvalho was talented but he just always looked liked he was running into someone with ball at feet. Both the club and he tried (twice) to get him on board and make it work. But my view is that we got the player now with the higher ceiling.

Carvalho and Gravenberch play different positions and are different types of players. What a stupid comparison.

Ryan fits in with our system so much better than Fabio, so as a much needed squad player, with all the matches we'll be playing, I know who I'd rather have in the squad.

Spot on Keith, Carvalho looks like he could develop as a 10, who can also play on the left. He didn’t fit into our system last season and, didn’t help himself with some of his ‘what about me’ comments. That said, he’s only a young lad and still has time to grow as a player. A warning sign is that he hasn’t established himself as a regular starter at Leipzig, although it’s still early days.

There is no real comparison with Gravenberch who plays a different role. He seemed destined for good things at Ajax but obviously made a poor choice in signing for Bayern. He only turned 21 in May so is also still relatively young and a work in progress but in the games he’s played he’s looked like he has something about him. Could be £30m might turn out to be a bargain.

Gravenberch looks a real engine who can drive our midfield. Carvalho needed to burst ahead of Nunez, Diaz, Jota, Gakpo for that LW spot. Unfortunate for him and not his fault really.

£30m benchwarmer? All I kept reading was our bench was weak and now we have a decent player? Words fail me.

I remember Dennis Bergkamp going from from Ajax to Inter Milan at the age of 24. Having a miserable time and Arsenal taking a punt on him.

What a mistake that was! I am not saying for a second that Gravenberch will turn out to be an exceptional world-class player like Bergkamp but his trajectory is similar. Ajax to a massive club, didn’t work out. Premier League side takes a punt …

Sometimes a player just doesn’t fit a team, whereas another fits him like a glove. Let’s hope that is the case here.
