I think what has happened is the players and the fans and them upstairs touched lucky winning the league due to a few things which won't go into now. But i think that we are all now coming to terms that Jurgen has gone .

He left us a squad that was capable of winning the prem and the turn around to Slot was blinding everyone. It never gave us time to understand the change that was coming the loss of Jurgen was mega we had 9 years of just going with his flow we believed in everything Jurgen said or done and then along came Arne different personality different style of play he stuck to Jurgens way won the prem then gradually changed our style to one that we are not used to and i think the players have struggled with system .

The suits listened to Arne and brought in players costing millions but it has had an adverse affect on the club i do expect it to turn around but not under Slot i am sorry to say we need a manager/ coach to come in for the long haul and live with his family in England mainly the north west and build a dynasty is Alonso that man i don't no but I along with all us reds hope so .

As for Jurgen why would you want to go to Madrid they have won things multiple times before him there really is nothing for him to achieve unlike when he came to us we were a project while Madrid are a mess i do think it would be a silly move for Jurgen .
YNWA.

But Jurgen didn't win the prem in his last season with the team he apparently left 'to win the prem'.
Slot did win with that team, yet he got lucky!
Eds if you're about,
Replying to the above post, did the 'suits listen to Arne and bring in these expensive players'?
Or were they purxhases and him told to coa h them?

{Ed001's Note - neither and both. They talked it over and decided on the way forward and type of players needed. Some, Isak for example, were very much Slot's choice, others were brought in as fitting the profile Slot asked for (supposedly fitting it anyway, I guess they weren't really listening when it came to the full backs) and he was just expected to work with them. If done right, Slot should be just being given a squad and told to deal with it. That would be better for the long term, as coaches will only look at the here and now, whereas recruitment needs to deal with the long term too. Unfortunately, we have weak leadership, so we ended up with this halfway house recruitment and no one really benefits.}

@albeydered, I disagreecompletely here cos you are making things way too complicated, for starters. Jurgen Klopp was fully involved in the handover to Slot. Slot said so himself in multiple interviews (including one with Gary Lineker for BBC) where he said he had convo's with Klopp during that summer and taking advice on how LFC play and proposing what Slot should do.

Also, Ed01 had mentioned that Klopp had prepared the players for life with Slot, pleading with them to listen to Slot and buy into his ideas cos he was confident that Slot would make them better, which he did. So the fact that Klopp was that involved, shows we had ALREADY come to terms to Klopp leaving and that the players already had closure.

As for us winning the title due to "due to a few things which won't go into now", please, explain. What things are those? Cos all I and many of us saw was Slot making tweaks to Klopp's system, bringing his staff and us revamping the medical dept. in to make us less prone to injury and his and the players' belief that there was a title to be won last season after the first few wins. Cheers, man.

Many thanks Ed, great and very interesting read.
Would you like to see him given more time to get it right? Keep him and replace Edwards, Hughes Etc as the club will be relying on them to make the next appointment.

{Ed001's Note - I would get rid of all of them. I never wanted Edwards back, I never believed Hughes was the right calibre of man for the SD job and I still believe that of both. So I would get rid of all three and ask Dr Graham to come back as sporting director in the short term to help recruit the right head coach and then look at whether he has the skills to do that role in the long term or if we need to ask him to find the right guy for the job.}

You mean Graham Hunter, Ed? If it is him then, I second the motion. Read an exposé about how he used to do transfers iunder Klopp and the guy knows his stuff.

{Ed001's Note - isn't Graham Hunter the Spanish football journo? I was meaning Dr Ian Graham, but yes, he is the guy who worked on the transfers under Klopp that Edwards seems to get the credit for.}

That's interesting Ed. I was under the impression he was basically a stats guy and gave transfer target and scouting advice based on the numbers. Sporting director seems like a major step up.

{Ed001's Note - so are Edwards and Hughes, and I was quite clear it was just a short term job to deal with the recruitment now and then re-evaluate the role once there is a chance to sort it. Graham is a big Liverpool fan, so I am sure he would be willing to help out and help find the right man for the job in the long term. Added to that, his recruitment was a big part of the Klopp success.}
