Ed001 mate if you're around, if Alonso comes in how do you see him setting up. Which players do you think will benefit from his appointment and which do you feel will not suit his style of play other than Frimpong and Wirtz who have already thrives under him.

{Ed001's Note - hard to say how he will set up as he fits it to the players available. The only thing I think we can be sure about is that Wirtz will get a free role and he will want the full-backs to attack. I think pretty much every player would benefit, as there is no one playing at their best right now, they need a fresh start.}

Cheers mate.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome, sorry it is not much use, but he is very flexible in his style of play. He has been on record saying he prefers a back four, and mostly used it before Leverkusen and at Madrid, but even that he is flexible on, so it is impossible to give a definitive answer really.}

Thanks Ed001. It's good to know that he very flexible. Sounds like he will/ can adapt the style of play for each game, where required. In a sense, keeps everyone on their toes, so to speak.

Cheers,
Kdirjb.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome.}

Do u think ed1 Alonso would be a good appointment if it goes threw? I know most of us would like a change and our saying anything would be an improvement but if we take a step back from that is Alonso the right man in the long term, not just a short term bounce.

I thought he would've been ideal when klopp left but he didn't want to move at the time, since then I haven't been massively impressed with his teams when I've seen them, albeit I wouldn't have seen leverkusan r real all that much.

{Ed001's Note - I am heavily biased when it comes to Xabi, I loved him as a player so much. I think he looks the right choice.}

Ed, so are you saying we can finally start making use of all the tissues we bought in the summer? Because I have sh*t tones remaining….

Alonso was a Rolls Royce of a player, had everything.

Alonso wasn't the type of player you would call Rolls-Royce, Ritchie. He wasn't strong and was slower than treacle. That's why his game intelligence is so high because he has always had to read the game better than others to make up for his lack of physical attributes.
