So.

We're not able to play 433 and press anymore, right lads?

And that wasn't about younger players who can run more, cos I didn't see Keita and Bajcetic charging about the place like peak Momo Sissoko. That was just about intelligent and confident application of a coherent tactic. No good reason we can't do that every game.

God I loved Momo Sissoko. Forgot all about him.

Precisely. Herr Klopp's "gegenpressing" is alive and well, if you choose to use it.

The "other" style of play (I don't know what else to call it) that we've seen this season as being promoted by Pep Linjders (as people are saying), has to be shelved. Even if it means asking Mr. Linjders to calmly vacate the premises, if he doesn't go along with it.

I don't think we did gegenpress.
We did press and we did regain our shape out of possession, too.
And rightly so, in my opinion. We are less set up to gegenpress so we should press and keep our shape.

I’d say tonight was more a 4-5-1 formation SR. Elliot and Cavalho were deeper than Gakpo and even helped out in full back positions at times.
The pressing was impressive though you are right. People will but they should not ignore Keita’s role in that I thought he pressed well and intelligently.
We were much more of a unit who moved together at the right times rather than the headless chicken approach we’ve been doing recently.
Plugged the gaps and won the ball high. The first step on the road to recovery I hope.

Kind of my point SR, frustration at the lack of enthusiasm that has been shown this season, rather than ability to do so maybe, it would be imperative that the same application is shown for the rest of the premier league season so we don't end up in the conference of Europe next season.
