Seen a lot of hate on here the other day regarding Wirtz. Just hope the same people seen the player he can be when played in the right position and also play the game around his strengths, not make him just a number.
He's 22, 2 years Bundesliga Player of the Year. We have a possible superstar on our hands and he's never played 2 games in the same position, never mind his favoured position, and I accept injuries and form.
Just think it's time to play our best players in their proper position and then make the team around them instead of playing our best players out of position cos they can play there.

29 Mar 2026 08:49:11
Wouldn't say it was hate, Steve, a poster put up a post that they were a bit underwhelmed with Wirtz and most of replies were positive about him. I also think we've a potential superstar on our hands, but I do believe u have to build a team around him, a physical energetic midfielder behind him for starters, imo.
He can be a bit easy-oosy at times and he will have to step it up next season, like the whole team. He was playing v well recently before he got that injury and when he came back he looked like he did at start of season, a bit off it. He had a good game for Germany seemingly and hopefully he takes that form back with him.
29 Mar 2026 09:16:49
Wirtz will be better for it next season. He was playing an international friendly with nothing on the game.
Not Premier League, where he gets brushed off the ball like he's an academy player.
He'll be better for it and yes, we have a baller. But can we stop manufacturing ways to make everything about Slot.
29 Mar 2026 12:56:52
Wirtz is class. It took him a while to blend in. I'm hoping we see the best of him next season, with a manager, players n tactics which suit our team.
29 Mar 2026 18:35:09
I have never seen any hate towards Wirtz. I think you were being a bit disrespectful towards Reds fans, Steve 81. We all know we have a world talent that needs to bed in with the club, players and country, and hopefully a new manager. YNWA.
29 Mar 2026 19:21:09
Until the fraud leaves, I'll reserve judgement on Wirtz like other senior players.
30 Mar 2026 12:47:14
Digger, the poster who did all that, should go check out the goal Wirtz just scored vs the Swiss at the weekend.
Wirtz was always gonna struggle to adapt, as it is his first season, and frankly, I am more excited about what he can do under another manager.
Cos if Wirtz can perform well to a decent/good extent under a feckless manager with a useless system then it can only bode well for him under a competent, committed and less arrogant manager who is fully engaged in making the team (and Wirtz) better. Just my take.
28 Mar 2026 17:19:10
Great to watch the Legends play. Thiago and Stevie on the same pitch.
Dalglish, Rush and Klopp as the management team. Crouchy and Smicer. It's clear the LFC former players are a great family. Would love to see the likes of Milner, Hendo, Salah, Firmino, and Mane back again when they are retired. What a club!

28 Mar 2026 18:37:43
A lot of clubs wouldn't get 60k watching the first team. I'd love us to get the likes of Thiago,
Milner, if he ever retires, involved in the coaching side, youth teams first, and I would invent a job to get Klopp involved running the academy and football development, etc etc, have a pathway for ex players to be future managers boot room style... but absolutely, as a fan since 1978, based in North London, my son is 17 now.
He was 9 when we first came to Anfield, we get up for around 4 games a season, a couple of parades and even a week in the summer for the hell of it, and have done for the last 8 years. The club, the city, the people are special.
My son knows his way around the city blindfolded, can speak perfect Scouse, and apart from spending my pension to do it... it was worth every penny!! Living out my dreams with my lad was and is priceless.
{Ed025's Note - love it Eddie..
28 Mar 2026 18:24:50
Particularly great to see Stevie and Thiago playing together, can only imagine the damage they could have done together. Stevie can still put it on a sixpence from anywhere, pleasure to see him play again. Some goal from Jay Spearing. Pity they didn't get the win. Great watch, nonetheless, but I was nearly ready to kill the broadcast director when they missed the Klopp fist pump!
28 Mar 2026 19:51:16
Great to see how our amazing city can do this to help local people. I loved the interview after the game, where he said he believes this is the greatest city in the world.
Makes me so proud to be a Scouser.
28 Mar 2026 22:01:38
Nice post that Eddie. ??
28 Mar 2026 22:10:32
I absolutely love taking my wee lad over for matches. Making memories with my one and only Priceless. ?
{Ed025's Note - im made up for you Barry, those memories will live forever mate and thats great..
28 Mar 2026 22:29:38
Agree lads, going the match with my lad is special. At the Spurs game last season, final whistle just hugged each other, finally saw the Redmen win it together. My lad is 21 in July, been taking him since he was 5. Still love it.
28 Mar 2026 22:43:49
Eddie74, brilliant post, buddy. I love it. Hope you and your son continue to enjoy the best city in the world.
29 Mar 2026 09:32:29
We went and it was nice to feel unity with the club/players and Klopp through his fist pumps.
It saddened me of how detached we are at the moment with things on and off the pitch with our manager and issues.
YNWA.
29 Mar 2026 05:28:06
That's what it's all about Ed025. Red or Blue Liverpool is a brilliant city.
{Ed025's Note - it really is Barry, and very friendly mate..
29 Mar 2026 10:35:38
The first time I took my boys to Anfield was way back in 2008 against the mighty Wigan, Titus Bamble getting a late equaliser. It was absolutely baltic but the kids loved every bit of the whole experience.
Going to Carraghers Bar and the Liverpool store so they could bankrupt me ?. The only thing missing was a victory so thanks for that, Titus, never liked that guy anyway. ?
29 Mar 2026 10:49:51
I didn't go but have seen clips online. Not sure Jurgen will have helped Slott's cause, the connection he had was electric and is what everyone is missing right now (that's absolutely no criticism of Klopp by the way, everyone would have been gutted if he didn't do the fist pumps!)
29 Mar 2026 11:49:00
Were any of the current staff there or any of the players that didn't go on international duty?
29 Mar 2026 11:58:46
I was the same Chewy! It was caught on YouTube though:
30 Mar 2026 12:51:42
Smashing post, Eddie. Didn't see the game as I was on Daddy Duty with my kids and then, on Buger Duty afterwards, lol.
Great to see all the lads and the enormous tribute they made in the 20th min. for Diogo and Andre (saw the highlights). A true family we Reds are, for sure.
What do you think changed between last year and this year with Slot and his tactics? How come we went from the team which swept the league to being a team everyone wants to play to regain their form? Cannot just be the new players as these lot cannot need a whole season to gel.
Cheers!
{Ed001's Note - he just got them to play his way and the fitness was much lower as well. It was already heading this way last season, the last weeks were dire, but we all just hoped it was nerves, I think.}
Agree0Disagree27
28 Mar 2026 19:19:37
So do you think ed if Slot had of come in and wanted them to play his way from the start last year would have been an absolute disaster?
{Ed001's Note - yes.}
28 Mar 2026 20:42:21
The man is an arrogant narcissist fool I feel bad saying it cus I so wanted him to succeed but the sooner the better he's gone! Hopefully it happens soon and we're not picking through the amber's of the club wondering were did it all go wrong
29 Mar 2026 03:30:31
My 2 cents...
I think we erred by not replacing Diaz by a proper left winger, or Chiesa should have been given more chances there. Depending on Gapko has basically made our left wing defunct, and the situation has been compounded by Salah having a mare of a season, and we not having a right wing back up too.
Isak's injury has impacted our season a lot too, as he could have let us play Ekitike on the left, and Wirtz in number 10.
30 Mar 2026 12:56:38
Damn, Jimjim. tell us how you really feel. I agree with Ed. Slot's system is a disaster and had he put it in practice last season, we would have been just as dire, if not worse. His system doesn't work in the PL, hands down. Him persisting with it despite all the rubbish going on, is what I see as being most criminal.
You can make a mistake and people will sympathise if you are willing to work hard and change BUT to just ignore them and not change and rather, quadruple down on them with no regard for anyone but yourself? This is where Slot lost all the credit in the back for no. 20 and was where I drew the line months ago.
28 Mar 2026 13:56:47
Please may I ask that someone enlighten me to the whole Ben White situation in the England team.
All I know is that he fell out with the previous manager / management team, and now he's brought back in, but has to "make right" with the players according to Tuchel.
He scored last night, gave away a penalty and then was booed as well.

28 Mar 2026 16:38:15
He was given some "homework" to do on opposing players and said he'd done it but hadn't.
28 Mar 2026 17:27:58
I think he said his dog ate his homework and he wasn't willing to stand in the corner.
28 Mar 2026 19:07:41
He missed training, to go for a tanning session n get his eyebrows done.
28 Mar 2026 22:33:45
Apparently, Southgate's assistant asked White to remove his earrings for a practice game. White didn't see the point, as it wasn't an official match, but Steve Holland insisted it was a safety hazard. White eventually agreed, but only after things got pretty heated between the two. After removing the earrings and handing them to Holland for safe keeping, the assistant coach thanked White for complying and briefly flashed a wry grin before absolutely hoofing the things downfield with an exquisite volley, apparently sending White's most coveted pair of "Ben Sherman men's Platinum Look Hoops" over 60 yards across the training ground, landing in a nearby bush. Reports claim White was less than pleased when he had to scale a 10-foot fence and spent 20 minutes searching, only to recover just one of the beloved earrings.
His mood quickly escalated to a level of "absolutely fuming", as quoted by a teammate who wished to remain anonymous, as he stormed into Southgate's office screaming profanities and demanding Holland be removed from the coaching staff. This did not go down well with Southgate, of course, who was on a conference call with the brand manager from PizzaHut at the time, as White's behaviour apparently ruined all possibility of Southgate rekindling his relationship with the famous pizza chain who were keen on securing Southgate for a follow-up to his classic 1996 ad campaign for the nation's favourite pizzeria.

Good to see that young Leoni is back doing light work on the grass, all looks good for pre-season.

28 Mar 2026 16:38:41
Fantastic news for the lad and us.
28 Mar 2026 17:37:04
Good news. Don't be surprised at a period of niggling injuries, though, as his body adjusts. I wonder how Isak is coming along with his rehab too.
29 Mar 2026 07:12:20
Apparently Isak is on track to be available vs PSG?
Nice for Leoni, and yes, as someone said above, I hope his rehab period is smooth. Hopefully his body holds up better than Danns has been.
29 Mar 2026 11:29:42
In addition, Jacquet's rehab has been going well also. Positives for next season. Isak is also recovering well and should play again this season.
30 Mar 2026 12:58:21
Great to hear about Leoni and Isak. Hopefully, they get back to full fitness with no setbacks. Really excited to see them play.
28 Mar 2026 10:49:54
Just putting this out there for other opinions and views but watching England last night and particularly Phil Foden.
To me he looks a total shadow of the player he was 2 or 3 seasons ago and no doubt missing KDB.
It wouldn't surprise me if his form continues City might look to move him on?
He seems a pretty steady sort of bloke on a personal life level and if he were to move on and I'm not sure a move abroad would suit him.
Would he be a player we would be interested in and would fellow posters and the Ed's think he's a player that would fit and suit us.
{Ed001's Note - are you serious? Ridiculously overrated and far too happy partying with Girlish, which is why his form fell off a cliff.}
Agree1Disagree18
28 Mar 2026 11:12:36
Crazy how far he's dipped. Don't think Tuchel'll take him.
28 Mar 2026 11:05:22
Cheers Ed
I didn't say he was a player I fancied only asking if anyone else did -
Your not a fan then mate ??
{Ed001's Note - no, not at all.}
28 Mar 2026 12:09:30
Two or three years ago, I thought England had two generational talents in Trent and Foden. Funny how things turn out in football.
28 Mar 2026 12:12:01
It's a theme. Foden, Palmer, Saka, Bellingham all out of form and overrated massively.
28 Mar 2026 12:41:08
He wouldn't displace Wirtz now, would he?
28 Mar 2026 13:04:56
Thought Grealish would be part of his downfall.
28 Mar 2026 13:44:16
Saka is a good player.
28 Mar 2026 14:02:56
Saka is a good player in my opinion but not a great player. He is very much overrated.
28 Mar 2026 14:08:12
The best English player is Anderson.
28 Mar 2026 14:26:29
Regarding Phil Foden - has there ever been a thread albeit short, that proves we all watch the same game, and yet see things massively different?
28 Mar 2026 15:46:56
He has the "left footed" premium and if you could get him focussed we know he has the talent.
Not saying he's a world class player, but he would be a good signing if you can get his head right.
28 Mar 2026 19:07:47
Foden is over rated. If it wasn't for football he'd be a manc ratboy nicking cars and doing ket.
28 Mar 2026 19:21:03
Rice miles ahead of Anderson.
28 Mar 2026 19:37:56
This Foden is overrated. Foden from a coupla year ago is not overrated. Top top player on his day.
28 Mar 2026 20:29:22
Whenever I see a post asking about people's opinions on a player, I instantly scroll to find vv's comment. I don't agree with a lot of vv's opinions, but they always make me laugh.
Once again, brutal af but hilarious. Well done, sir. ??
28 Mar 2026 21:10:42
Vv would say Maradona was crap. ?
28 Mar 2026 21:14:59
Viktor is a great poster and a big part of what makes this site so good. While we don't agree on everything, I always look out for Viktor's posts.
28 Mar 2026 21:21:24
There's no motivation for these players anymore. Klopp going has a big effect on the league, as well as us. Pep cba anymore, no one to push him. 3rd rate managers galore.
28 Mar 2026 22:01:04
Edd001 do you think Foden will go with his buddy at everton?
{Ed001's Note - no idea, sorry.}
29 Mar 2026 07:11:33
Florian you defend Slot for anything so you're in no position to criticise VV or anyone else's posts.
30 Mar 2026 12:59:59
Frode, I felt that all the way from over here.
28 Mar 2026 00:24:07
Hey Ed1, hope you're well mate.
Question, do you see any chance of Kvaratskhelia being available end of season?
Was my favourite option for the left before PSG signed him.
{Ed001's Note - I would be very surprised if they let him go.}
Agree1Disagree9
28 Mar 2026 09:57:28
Gregarious - Absolutely none whatsoever. Just like Doue, Joao Neves and Nuno Mendes, Kvara is simply not for sale.
The rest we'd have a chance of getting if they actively tried to leave.
28 Mar 2026 11:08:50
Think we missed our chance when he was leaving Napoli. Was gutted we didn't try then, 60 million too, which is reasonable in today's market.
{Ed001's Note - he wasn't interested in anyone but PSG.}
28 Mar 2026 12:00:02
Kvara is a fabulous player. I think he could score a few more goals, but he's otherwise the best left-sided player in football by a mile.
28 Mar 2026 12:23:25
Imagine his price tag? Lol. An excellent player, but one we'll never end up with.
28 Mar 2026 19:56:33
As per Red Jones, we missed the boat here.
£150m signings and £460k per week players suggests we could end up with him. Unless he doesn't want to join the mighty Reds. ??♂️
30 Mar 2026 13:01:16
Khavratschelia ain't happening, anytime soon.
28 Mar 2026 04:39:16
Did you guys see the two goals Wirtz got in for Germany yesterday. Germany were trash but we got ourselves a player!
I can't believe what slotball is doing to this lad! He can literally shoot from anywhere but is probably not allowed to by slot.
Agree9Disagree0
28 Mar 2026 07:50:21
Don't most of our players thrive when playing for their country?
....
28 Mar 2026 08:05:12
Yeah, I can hear Slot say to Wirtz, "Don't you dare shoot." Dear oh dear.
28 Mar 2026 08:39:29
Sounds like some crazy thing Slot would say, shooting goes against his philosophy of slow ponderous football. Funny thing is - it's the perfect counter to those dreaded low blocks.
28 Mar 2026 08:55:09
Analysing matches with Wirtz saying "See? This is what I'm talking about, Florian.
You can't be shooting when there's a recycling opportunity to Curtis Jones." ? C'mon lads, would it not have something to do with the fact that for a large part of the season he was taking an age to get his shots off as if he thought he was still in Leverkusen and they were getting blocked?
28 Mar 2026 09:39:34
No doubt he's a very good player, just needs to adapt to the pace of the prem for us to see the best of him. A firing Isak will help his game as well.
28 Mar 2026 12:16:28
Any club manager worth their salt should watch how Wirtz plays for Germany and pick a team around him that plays to his strengths.
28 Mar 2026 14:04:56
If MU or City or Gunners or Chelsea signed him and if he had same output, we would be laughing at them.
He looks class and very good, but hasn't lived up to generational talent status.
We need to accept the fact that every ordinary player is called world class.
28 Mar 2026 18:36:20
We need to accept that Slot has hamstrung the side beyond recognition and the players no longer want to play for him.
28 Mar 2026 19:23:08
I agree, Sami. I actually think Wirtz will come good, and has already started to. But if he had signed for any other team we would be slaughtering him.
30 Mar 2026 13:06:36
Sami, and you deduced all of that after his season under a disaster of a system he plays in under a feckless manager, right?
IMO, the fact that Wirtz has been good overall this season (despite his adaptation struggles which are normal, btw) under the afore-mentioned circumstances just proves how outstanding of a talent he actually is.
And if you think "Flo" is just an ordinary player then, that tells me you know very little of him before he came here. And this is coming from someone who watched a good amount of him the season they went invincible under Alonso. He is no ordinary player, I promise you that.
