Has Liverpool ever shown interest in Belloumi of Hull? Great talent and one of the reasons Hull are where the are today. Plus we would still have a Mo in the squad. ?

Agree4 Disagree0

23 May 2026 12:41:21
I would say Hull's success is mainly from Koumas.

23 May 2026 14:54:13
Tobi 3, We're the post saying that Carra says Slot is staying carnt seem to find it. ?

23 May 2026 15:01:19
I remember Vennegoor of Hesselink.

23 May 2026 15:29:11
That's a blast from the past, Rigsby!!!!

23 May 2026 16:28:16
Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink. ?

Combined with Zoltan Gera for one of the best footballer crisp flavours.

Zoltan Vennegoor of Hesselink.

23 May 2026 18:32:08
Nice one, Ron. ?

23 May 2026 11:41:37
Liverpool reached an agreement with Celtic FC yesterday for highly-rated 16-year-old Scottish defender Dara Jikiemi, who had been closely monitored by the club for months. He'll officially join the academy setup on July 1st.

Agree12 Disagree0

23 May 2026 12:45:10
We'll have the best defense in 2030.

23 May 2026 13:24:43
He's Finnish.

23 May 2026 13:26:30
Liverpool are going down the Chelsea model. Buying young players that will never break into the first team. Utter crap philosophy.

23 May 2026 13:41:54
Bit harsh on a 17 year old MK, give the lad a chance !!

23 May 2026 14:36:49
Or maybe just strengthening our youths, TheOne. We shouldnt even be hearing about this signing. You can blame the internet age for that.

23 May 2026 16:55:45
I don't like all this. Was it Ben Doak we signed and seldom played? He was flying before us, and it can ruin a player's morale, particularly a kid. Wrong, and so is waving a new set of keys for their parents' house. I know several local kids here at Utd and City, and it makes my skin crawl.

There should be a rule. Think of your early Utd teams and Stevie and Carra coming through? Clubs are losing their identity! I'm old fashioned but I want the true reserves back; young local Scouse lads playing competitively to break into that main team, but still as a decent standard ready for that step-up.

23 May 2026 21:18:51
We made money off Ibe, Brewster, Sterling, Doak, Solanke. So buying good youngsters and giving them a platform for a season or 2 has been profitable for the club.

23 May 2026 10:15:49
Also been told Alisson & Jones are being pushed out by Slot & they want to stay but that looks like only if he goes.

Agree4 Disagree0

23 May 2026 10:38:52
Where'd you hear that, Racey?

23 May 2026 10:57:07
Garbage. Alisson is the most low maintenance, top professional you'd find. Anytime he's fit, he's been straight back in the team under Slot. People are forgetting this group had one of the best weeks of celebration under this coach q2 months ago. He ain't perfect, but he ain't Satan either.

23 May 2026 10:45:43
I'll gladly drive the bald clown back to Holland. He is destroying the club more and more each day.

23 May 2026 10:50:13
Florian, Ed already said on the Banter page (cos I asked him) that Slot is trying to purcge the senior players/legends that have been the fly in the ointment for him since such guys like Salah and Jones (not sure about Ali but he is prolly involved) aren't just content with towing the line and will push back.

So essentially since the senior players are against him then, he is going to create and new dressing room and push out the "disidents", so to speak.

You are free to consulr Ed01 on this because I did.

23 May 2026 11:10:23
Rightly or wrongly, if there are fractures, then one of the solutions is to clean house.

23 May 2026 11:22:23
Whatever is happening - it all feels very moneyball - get rid of the old guard and use the data irrespectively of what is happening right in front of your face.

23 May 2026 11:22:41
@FM, It was the same person that told me about Slot staying. ?

23 May 2026 11:26:28
Instead of replacing the manager who fell out with senior players from the group that won everything, we decided to get rid of the players instead. Nice clear-out, that.

23 May 2026 11:53:50
Getting rid of winners with knowledge so no one questions his ludicrous ideas. Get rid of as many players as you want, mate, you can't get rid of 60k fans inside the stadium calling you an idiot.

23 May 2026 12:22:41
I have a feeling they're going to spend fortunes again in an attempt to make Slot work...

Who knows, Fergie used to stay relevant by changing his back room staff fairly frequently, so perhaps that's the aim?

Not happy if he stays, but we have to work with it, I guess.

23 May 2026 12:34:26
It won't just be up to Slot who is pushed out or brought in, will it?
I thought he was the head coach.

23 May 2026 12:40:02
No, Oli, it's grand. Just asking where the info was from. Think it's a fair ask, or is "I'm hearing" the new standard for passing on info? Was curious because nothing has ever really been said about Alli. Only problem with him would be the injuries, as he's missed 33 Premier League games over the last 3 seasons.

23 May 2026 12:46:44
To hear that Slot is pushing players out must be some inside info.

23 May 2026 13:52:52
[Ismael Mahmoud] A source close to Alisson: "All signs point to him staying at Liverpool. He is very happy at the club!"

23 May 2026 10:03:11
There’s lots of talk now that FSG have took on board slots request to have a change of back room staff & transfers as he believes that will help to challenge on all fronts next season. This was sent to me by my friend who has contacts.

Agree4 Disagree0

23 May 2026 10:47:32
We must have the same friend, called Twitter. Looking at the timing of release around assistant manager recruitment, new players, and Wirtz's latest interview - there's no way Slot gets sacked this summer.

23 May 2026 10:53:11
What did Wirtz say?

23 May 2026 10:57:20
Just can't see it making any difference when we still look like a team that has no style, and it looks, from the outside, that he's lost the players. You can't come back from that.

23 May 2026 12:01:26
@Belfast, Look up Wirtz interview, it's one of the first results with The Athletic/NY Times. Mad how many posters here seemingly don't have Google. ?

23 May 2026 12:06:14
I did but it was just random World Cup nonsense, I'll check The Athletic.

23 May 2026 14:42:54
In other words, in this scenario, Slot is trying to bypass Hughes and Edwards to get what he wants. Sounds like the logical way to proceed would be to make Slot the Manager and remove Hughes and, perhaps, Edwards, and bring in a DoF who Slot can work with, and who can help Slot bring in the backroom staff and players that Slot might want.

As plausible as any of the other scenarios, I guess.

23 May 2026 20:15:32
Slot bringing his "own staff" is just rearranging deckchairs on the Titanic. He came in with his own staff, how many more of his own staff are there kicking around? This just stinks of Brendan Rodgers blaming his coaching staff for 14/15 and bringing in Sean O'Driscoll.

He'll be sacked by the time November comes around as the results aren't going to change with the tactics he employs.

23 May 2026 10:01:32
Morning Gents, Happy Saturday.

No manager update.

But I'm told Liverpool want to sign Antonio Nusa.

21 Yr old from RB L.

Cheers.

Agree21 Disagree0

23 May 2026 10:13:41
So we still in for Hoeness then?

Nusa or Diomande then.

23 May 2026 10:16:48
So the cheaper option then.

23 May 2026 10:42:45
Doesn't look like Slot is going anywhere as Etienne Reijnen apparently is coming. Disaster.

23 May 2026 10:44:11
Nusa plays on left & Diomande on right.

23 May 2026 10:44:34
Cheers, Robbo. ?

Hoping and praying for good news that Slot is gone/going.

Worrying rumour that Reijnen is coming as Asst. That's a disastrous move by FSG if true.

23 May 2026 10:45:20
Good player but he tends to play on the left? Maybe a Gakpo replacement...? Wouldn't mind an older player to 'not block the path of Rio'.

23 May 2026 11:01:45
Rogers mk 2. Give the man that which he insists will make the difference, then sack him a few weeks into the season, when they finally realise Slot is limited.

How did the assistant suddenly get clearance, which was flatly refused previously?

{Ed001's Note - he needed qualifications which he went and got.}

23 May 2026 11:28:17
ITKs talking hot air, I think.
Slot is staying, or Mo defo wouldn't have agreed to go.
Jones defo wouldn't want away in my opinion.

23 May 2026 11:20:15
Do you know much about him Ed?
The coach I mean

{Ed001's Note - no, sorry.}

23 May 2026 14:45:11
@Robbo, first post in thread - "No manager updates"
2nd post in thread 'So are we still in for Hoeness'...

Comedy lives on.

23 May 2026 20:23:34
Imagine going to Red Bull Liepzig, looking at Yan Diomande, who's scored 12 goals and got 8 assists and deciding to sign Nusa, who's scored 4 goals and got 3 assists in nearly the same number of appearances and is inferior in every single metric. Mediocre player him.

22 May 2026 22:24:48
Liverpool want to sign Yan Diomande before he heads off to the World Cup with the Ivory Coast.

Agree15 Disagree0

22 May 2026 23:52:26
PSG interested too.

23 May 2026 04:26:28
Pull out all the stops to get this kid, best available option to replace Salah on the RW. Not Salah level, by the way, but very very promising indeed.

23 May 2026 04:38:53
I read that he wants to stay where he is for the time being, although it was just in a gossip section somewhere.

23 May 2026 07:07:55
I don't read any gossip forums.

23 May 2026 08:38:18
Looks something else in the Bundesliga. Just hope, if we sigh him, it transfers over to the Premier League. Definitely looks as if he'll be able to handle the phsicality.

23 May 2026 08:50:33
He'll be heading to PSG, I reckon.

23 May 2026 08:59:46
We all know Klopp was a draw to top players, but this season Slot has made us not very attractive to play for. Why would a top young tallent come now? Last season the attraction was there for Wirtz and Isak, but another season like this one and you see it now: Jones, Ali, etc., want out, and then Isak, Wirtz and Slobbo will want out. The problem is not the club, it is Slot and his brand of football.

I can not get my head around why FSG see keeping Slot is the best way to success. Hughes has a lot to answer for to protect Slot; he protects himself, and Hughes must not give a toss about the club to have not noticed Slot's lost the dressing room because of his football. The cure for that is change the dressing room. My God, how low have we dropped to keep this failure of a manager. It's a massive insult to the fans.

23 May 2026 09:09:46
Fbart, Carra is saying Slot goes. I hold on to this until he does.

23 May 2026 09:17:47
I'll be honest, for the 100 million euros being quoted for only one good season in the Bundesliga, I'd wait to see how he gets on in the World Cup. If he's terrible, I wouldn't go near him.

Huge risk making this deal, seems we would rather these players go to Red Bull or teams like Bournemouth first to see how they get on and then pay a premium on them.

Could we not have bought a Diomonde or Rayan a year ago as a squad player with the view of being the starter once Salah leaves.

23 May 2026 09:22:02
If Hughes is involved with negotiations, he'll defo not be signing or Dick Hughes will pay the full asking price like he's done with every other signing.

23 May 2026 09:32:25
Well, he's an LFC fan apparently. And if he has any sense he'll realise he's gonna walk into the team of one of the biggest clubs on the planet if he signs for us. At the moment, his competition is Chiesa.

23 May 2026 09:36:25
Carra also said Alonso was nailed on. I may be mistaken, and wait for next week, but there's loads of speculation that Slot stays. My point on this is, the Prem champions was a draw for players in, if you look at this season, if top tallent had the option of Lfc, Arsenal or PSG, I would have us third choice because of Slot. He is the Carlton Palmer of management, and playing for him is a step back.

I would imagine Wirtz is regretting joining us, particularly if that spam head is in charge next season. Virgil's quote, trust the process, block out the noise. Yeah, in our world that's get behind your buddy, fellow countryman, emotionless deluded manager. We lost 20 out of every competition, and the reward for that is here's more money and try again a new trust the process. Last one lasted 30 years, I remember.

23 May 2026 09:53:51
I'm not ITK; must be one of the few that isn't. In fact, I know very little, but I can read and read a lot. To me it looks pretty clear that Slot is staying. All the signs point to him staying. All the YouTubers and content creators are having a field day with stories and conspiracy theories, etc., but at the end of the day, there is nothing to suggest he is leaving.

The only thing I am clinging on to is F Romano saying there will be a review and Ornstein's stance softening ever so slightly. I hope I am wrong.

23 May 2026 10:10:04
RB Leipzig might 'diomande' upwards of £80m for the winger. ?

InBeta1989, that sounds suspiciously ITK.

In fact, the only person to me that sounds like they are not "In The Know" is Richard Hughes.

He knows naff all, him. ?

22 May 2026 23:22:07.
Etienne Reijnen - Slot’s Assistant at Feyenoord is close to joining Arne’s Backroom staff for next season, so with respect to Carra, Robbo etc this would mean FSG are giving Slot to October - December next season at least.

If this is all smoke and mirrors it’s quite convincing! Like Rodgers it would seem Slot is changing his assistant and getting a stay of execution!

I was told last month if Heitinga rejoins it would indicate that Slot is on secure footing so I can only speculate that getting his mate in from Feyenoord is even better for Arne’s job security?!

One more game of this season thank goodness! YNWA to everyone involved on this great webpage or whatever his the correct term lol!

Agree13 Disagree0

22 May 2026 23:36:30
Jones posted something before, almost looked like a goodbye, too many things adding up, and I'm not liking the outcome if the math does math.

He'll be sacked before Christmas anyway, so let's just save us all the time and the points.

22 May 2026 23:36:37
Guess that means he's staying, shame. Hoping he turns it around and all the circumstances just made him blind for a season.

22 May 2026 23:45:29
Sailor, Jones posted a goodbye to Mo and Robbo.

22 May 2026 23:59:12
Ahhh, is that what it was? I didn't even read the whole post, sorry mate!

23 May 2026 00:02:09
It does seem to be gathering pace on a lot of websites. Please don't let it be true. I really don't want to watch another season of this dire football. What have Robbo, the Fields and Carra heard about him coming, or is it smoke and mirrors?

23 May 2026 04:40:28
What's to say it won't be Ajax or the Dutch national team? It might also be just a rumour.

23 May 2026 05:46:54
FSG work in cycles. They are not moved by noise until it starts to hit profits.

They did due diligence when choosing Arne Slot, who bagged a title. His complaints are that he does not have the players or coaching set up required to fully implement his vision.

And, just like Rogers, Arne has some blag.

What's about to happen is merely FSG staying true to their original vision. Edwards and Hughes are calling the shots.

23 May 2026 06:11:01
@shanklys ghost,

"How is it nonsense when it's coming from Paul Joyce of all people? He's clearly a tier-one Liverpool journalist. Do you seriously think he talks rubbish?

We'd all love for Slot to leave, but you can't just dismiss reports from top-tier journalists as nonsense just because you don't want them to be true.

As things stand right now, the situation realistically points more towards Slot staying than leaving.

Just because the reports don't align with your opinion doesn't mean you should label journalists' information as rubbish."

23 May 2026 06:31:58
Dominic King posted the story via the Telegraph. It seems these local journos are convinced he's staying. Disastrous if true.

23 May 2026 06:54:01
@Hankly's,

Fact: Slot's 1sr season he wins the PL and qualifies for CL football.
Fact: If Slot's team get a point tomorrow we qualify for CL football. Depending upon results, we might not even require a point tomorrow.
Fact: FSG are interested in(sports) business assets not football peruse.
Fact: None of us know what Slot's KPIs for this season were / are, and as such, it's possible that he could have done enough for him to keep the job (ass7ming he wants it).

Just because a lot (all) of us want Slot to leave doesn't mean that it's a foreigner conclusion that he will be gone next week.

You are looking at it solely from a football perspective, which (sadly imo) isn't the full picture. P&L is a key factor in determine the need for change, at least for FSG, whose club it is, after all.

23 May 2026 06:55:41
Well, if he is staying, they need to give him the players and coaches he needs to give him the best chance. Otherwise there is no point and they are letting not only Slot down, but the club and the fans.

23 May 2026 07:03:37
You have to wonder if these journos would risk trashing their reputations to suit the club. Every one of them will be made to look a fool if Slot leaves now.

23 May 2026 07:12:47
I have just been reading more reports that the club's end of season review hasn't been completed yet. So nobody knows anything yet.

23 May 2026 07:50:12
Slot confirmed it (more or less) in his presser yesterday, and also Feyenoord Chief Exec confirmed that Reijnen is leaving to take a role at a significant club abroad. Rules out Ajax and the Dutch national team, I'm afraid.

Time to buckle in, accept he is there next year, and start to support him. The club get more decisions right than wrong, so in LFC we trust.

23 May 2026 07:51:30
I'm still very concerned about our off the ball structure and approach. I simply don't know what we are trying to accomplish having Dom chase shadows, having our center forward or Salah press a center half in the most gormless and non-committal fashion before staying all the way up the field, and having the opposition midfielder waltz through the center of the park and into our final third.

Sure, we would look a lot better with two lightning wingers who can pin the opposition full backs and run up and down the field off the ball, and if Salah and Gakpo had anything close to their numbers last year, we would have been in a title race even if I don't think we look like we were equipped for a title challenge this year. I think it's very concerning that we look so incredibly poor off the ball, that's all down to coaching, surely. With a Wharton or Stiller in the team next to somebody who stays put at the 6 (hopefully Grav, and we stop doing this rotation nonsense in the midfield), we can release the ball early to the wingers and fullbacks flying down the pitch.

Returning to the pressing, though, I'm not asking for heavy metal football necessarily, but you're not going to survive in this league just inviting the opposition to get up the field, taking the p***, doing neat triangles and rondos before having the likes of Morgan Rogers take unopposed shots from outside the box. For me, that has nothing to do with personnel or injuries. If you were the coach of Grimsby Town, you wouldn't allow that to happen regardless of who you were playing.

I trust that Slot isn't blind, and that he will work to fix this (which hopefully has him abandoning the +1 system and having us press from the front with a more energetic front three), but I've also felt this way all year, and it seems to be getting worse. The last two games, with all our forwards out, you would've thought that we would tighten things up at the back, be impossible to score against, and try to score from a set piece or a counter, but we were appalling in the press and appalling in both boxes.

23 May 2026 08:01:30
Ajax currently have an interim manager, so there is hope they will be meeting up there for the new season.

23 May 2026 08:33:51
The way I'm looking at this now is that if Slot was definitely going players like Salah and Jones wouldn't be looking at going they would stay until the new manager is named or in place.

Sorry but all this talk that Slot is away isn't lying well with me, I hope I'm wrong but I have this horrible feeling the fraud is staying and FSG have lost their balls.

23 May 2026 08:48:29
SA is correct, the end of season review will wait until ... the end of the season.

23 May 2026 09:41:27
I'm sick and tired of people saying that Slot staying will be disastrous.
A disaster is Hillsborough, Heysel, Munich, Bradford, Ibrox, Bolton.
A manager staying may not be what you want but is not a disaster. Liverpool supporters, football fans, and media people should stop using the term, especially when it comes to talking about players, managers, and results.

23 May 2026 10:05:27
Well said, Kemlyn.
Another cringey one is that Slot is 'destroying the club'.
Slot won't, or won't be allowed to, destroy the club.

23 May 2026 10:54:46
Rigsby, he has been allowed to destroy it with no accountability up to this point.

Or are we saying that he hasn't destroyed it enuff (cos we stumbled into CL this season) hence, we should cut him some slack to destroy it further?

23 May 2026 10:46:28
Ive started a little rhyme on behalf or Ron and myself. Ahem

No review, no clue!! I think it's quite catchy.

Seriously though.

If Slot stays he needs to be supported whether we like it or not, he needs the backroom staff and players as I can't believe a manager who was identified as good fit and was also said to be a good fit by one of our own Eds can suddenly become bad.

23 May 2026 12:16:26
If he stays and results stay the same and there's nothing to say they won't, we will be out of the league by December, and more than likely out of cups, a new manager with players he probably doesn't want, really really hope he goes because he's f******.

23 May 2026 14:50:23
I absolutely agree, @Oli. Slot has destroyed the club to the point we are just about to qualify for next season's CL, having managed a lucky escape from relegation.

I'd suggest the definition in your dictionary of the word destroy might be slightly inaccurate.

23 May 2026 20:26:04
Etienne Reijnen = Sean O'Driscoll.

22 May 2026 23:03:37
Haha, Joyce and King breaking news. Slot to stay.

Agree3 Disagree0

23 May 2026 00:45:24
Convenient how these non-stories always come out right on the cusp of big events where the club really doesn't want the crowd to turn on the manager, isn't it?

23 May 2026 06:22:42
Frank, is that’s true, I’m not sure it’s anything to laugh about. The same mistake they did with Rodgers all over again.

23 May 2026 07:17:16
Well, I have just looked and can't see any "Breaking news", just the same that's been said for a few weeks.

Slot may stay or may leave, nothing has been decided yet, I don't believe.

22 May 2026 15:22:22
Afternoon Gents

The shift has gone to Hoeness rather Iraola.

Cheers.

Agree71 Disagree0

22 May 2026 15:34:09
Currently deleting my Iraola YouTube playlist and clearing my afternoon for Hoeness tactics videos.

22 May 2026 15:39:02
New fear unlocked: The club hierarchy are going to hum and haw and we'll end up missing both.

22 May 2026 15:41:40
Not according to Bet365 and that Denise Coates is worth a bob or two.
It might be worth a shilling on Hoeness at 14/1 though, Robbo.
Ta.

22 May 2026 15:48:53
Cheers, Robbo. Thanks for the update. Really appreciate it.

Gutted to see Iraola not the favorite now. He would have been great with prem experience. I am afraid, we will end up fighting for top 4 or top 6 again with a transition season along with a manager who is deffo new to the league as well.

22 May 2026 15:55:26
Would we still favour Hoeness if he didn't wear a baseball cap on the touchline? Talk about not getting over your ex.

22 May 2026 16:01:45
Funky, he can wear Tu-Tu once he does the business.

22 May 2026 16:11:05
I'm sure I speak for most when I say Hoeness or Iraola in the dug out next season is fine - as long as it's not Arne Slot there that's all that matters.

22 May 2026 15:39:00
Sehr gut! Be interesting to see how this unfolds; will Slot get a matchday send-off in recognition of his EPL title, or will the club take him to the woodshed and strangle him out of sight next week? We might all be keen to get shot, but reckon he deserves the former.

22 May 2026 16:15:35
Does the business like winning the league only to get sacked the following year? I joke. I think he's an interesting candidate, but this is Liverpool. Massive step up, but I would certainly get behind him if appointed. Hopefully he's funny like Klopp.

22 May 2026 16:16:43
There's definitely a bit of that, alright, Funky. ? But hey, once he's good, if he gets the job, then fine.

22 May 2026 16:16:47
I would have preferred Iraola. That Prem experience is vital.

Although, to be fair, Guardiola and Klopp hadn't managed in the Prem before they arrived.

22 May 2026 16:40:02
Agreed, Adam, but Klopp and Pep managed massive clubs and had more solid reputations, in my opinion. Any manager is always a risk, but I can't help but think that this is riskier. FSG have given us Klopp and Slot with the league, but all eyes are on them with this one as Klopp left us in a cheerful mood (so to speak).

This fella is potentially arriving at a club low on morale with apparent backroom issues, but ultimately it's about winning over the fans, and as much as we're a patient lot, circumstances are different this time.

22 May 2026 16:48:44
Thanks, Robbo. Wonder if Klopp has had any influence.

22 May 2026 16:50:20
Agree, @The Lid.

I can't help but feel we think we're getting another Klopp. Iraola is logically a smarter bet unless he really can't stand living in the UK.

22 May 2026 17:08:00
Over here in Germany there's little to no talk of Hoeness joining Liverpool, it's all about how he might one day manage Bayern.

Probably something to do with the fact Stuttgart play Bayern tomorrow in the cup final, and journalists are trying to spice it up for clicks.

22 May 2026 17:08:14
FFS Funky 061 ???? class.

22 May 2026 17:11:03
Nice one Robbo.

Stone, yes that is the case.

Hoeness is more of a complete boss than Iraola imo. Choosing Iraola over him because of prem experience is daft if you ask me.

22 May 2026 17:11:15
They have no clue, do they. No manager change.

22 May 2026 17:23:54
Would it be fair to say that nobody has a clue. The ITK's have had a stinker with this manager stuff.

What I saw in the summer was Carra on that Isak transfer, nailed his nuts to it months before anyone had a clue. And he was bang on right.

I know for a fact it wasn't a guess, he had the info and then a few more ITK's had info on other stuff, very accurate info.

But everyone on this Arne Slot news has had a shocker, and I think they've either been fed lies, or it's been tight-lipped from the top and they are guessing. Either way, absolutely nobody has a Scooby Doo what's happening, and has been wrong over and over again to the point it's getting a bit daft.

22 May 2026 17:30:24
LiverpoolFC8, the same way Carra also stated that Xabi was nailed on to be our manager?

Things change.

22 May 2026 17:40:03
Thanks, thefields. I'd agree that would be daft, especially if that is the only reason.

22 May 2026 17:52:06
My mate was convinced we had Alonso in the bag from the off. That's why I've stopped posting anything, as things change so quickly. The moment you post it, it could be wrong.

If you don't want to read something from somebody who might have info, scroll past.

22 May 2026 17:52:15
The reality is that both are high risk. I don't understand all the "he is the best choice" comments for two managers who are yet to fully prove themselves. An Enrique or Klopp return would excite me, but be unrealistic. Therefore, my next choice would be Unai Emery, or see if Zidane wanted to come back into management.

22 May 2026 17:52:36
Threeps
Is the talk about Bayern due to his uncle?
The great Uli Hoeness?
Played for them and is a current Bayern Board member.

22 May 2026 18:08:14
Yes, SirBob, that link will always be there. He's still young, but his name will always be mentioned when discussing potential Bayern coaches if he continues to do well.

Seems Bayern have no intention of parting with Kompany anytime soon (contract until 2029), so at least there's potentially a few years with us without that distraction.

But, as I said, the talk has increased this week because he plays them tomorrow in the final. But nothing about Liverpool yet.

22 May 2026 18:12:51
Personally I think it's Iraola if at all anyone.
Hoeness is just being mentioned because he's involved in a major game tomorrow.

Iraola has the pedigree and PL experience. Plus we can bring in some Bournemouth players with him.

Ignore the smoke and mirrors, Iraola will be our guy.

22 May 2026 18:50:09
That's what I'm saying, VictorGoddam. Everyone has had a shocker. Including him. ?

22 May 2026 19:15:57
My money is on whoever is able to platform the majority of the players we have already. Would Isak fit in a Pep Guardiola side the way they play? Or a Klopp side the way they set up? I might be grasping at straws, but the next manager will be one that will get the best out of Isak and Wirtz.

22 May 2026 19:19:32
LiverpoolFC8, stop trying to wind up all the ITK. If you don't want to believe them, that's fine, but don't ruin it for the rest of us that like listening to the likes of Robbo, Carra, Fields and Victor.

22 May 2026 19:40:51
He's not winding them up, he's telling the truth. Nobody knows what's happening, even the ITKs only say what they've heard which is almost always wrong/outdated or a smokescreen.

I appreciate the info, but on the manager front over the last 6 months it's been a total guessing game. And I'm all for it.

22 May 2026 19:43:43
My money is on Hoeness being used as a decoy for an Iraola touchdown.

22 May 2026 20:04:52
@TheFields

I don't see how it's daft to take Iraola for his Prem experience. Hoeness could be another Amorim or Slot. At least Iraola has proven himself at Bournemouth.

I'd say the bigger worry is Iraola having a good season and getting lured by Madrid. Or not adapting to a huge club like Liverpool.

22 May 2026 20:25:24
That coin the three stooges are tossing has never had so much use!

22 May 2026 20:31:41
I think people maybe just want rid of Slot so bad that they will accept anyone. Iraola is a Premier League manager who has overachieved at a small club. So was Brendan Rodgers, and look what happened there. The German guy would take time, I think, too, maybe a season or two, and, given Slot has won a title and had a bad second season, will the German guy get a similar amount of time?
I would hope that they are looking at elite coaches.

But I kind of like the idea of Iraola, but it’s a huge risk. It’s not a computer game, and the board and club have a lot more to lose than me, if they get it wrong. Maybe that is why they are planning to stick with Slot and see if he can improve? I hope they don’t cos the football is trash.

Once again apologies for spelling, no reading glasses at the moment.

22 May 2026 20:33:31
Lots of managers struggle to adapt to the Prem or get found out and can't change.
Iraola has 3 years in the Prem and is still improving.

22 May 2026 20:44:01
Iraola's improving season on season?
Think people need to get their facts right on this man... goes from win percentage of 34% in his 1st, to 39% in his second and back to 34% in his 3rd.

Let's not talk about how rubbish his Bournemouth side have been in every cup competition.
Having PL experience counts for nothing unless you're a proven winner, which he isn't based on his actual stats.

22 May 2026 21:06:48
His league position is improving, which is more meaningful than number of wins.

22 May 2026 21:11:02
His Bournemouth side did lose multiple first team players.

22 May 2026 21:33:58
Not saying Iraola will be next manager, but you can't deny the job he's done at Bournemouth.

They regularly get stripped of their best player, yet they remain competitive.

22 May 2026 22:18:38
I'm not too worried about Hoeness not having PL experience if he gets the job. All he needs to do is set up an account on here (or use FSG's secret identity), and he'll be sound.

22 May 2026 22:19:54
No shift, Robbo, it's always been Slot.

22 May 2026 22:42:47
I really want to believe that slot is staying now. On the other hand I have confidence in Carra getting it right.

I'm completely torn.

What do we think, reds? Who's going to be right?

22 May 2026 23:06:52
Disappointment will be the overall feeling amongst most fans, including myself, come the beginning of next season, because Arne Slot is going absolutely nowhere.

With all the hit pieces today with our links to wingers and now P. Joyce stating we're likely to appoint a new assistant manager, who Slot wanted initially, there's only one outcome here, sadly. Arne Slot will be the Liverpool manager for the opening day of the 26/27 season.

They'll back him in the market and probably view this season as a one off. The unrest amongst some of the fan base and so on will subside if we win a few games and improve on performances (not difficult). This is probably what the hierarchy are hoping for.
As much as most want Slot gone, myself included, all the noise coming out today probably suggests he is staying.

22 May 2026 23:50:18
Robbo, Thefields, Victor... Do you guys still think Slot goes at the end of the season? Or are they sounding out a potential manager for later if Slot can't get it right next season?

I ask because there's so much noise of Slot staying on and getting a new assistant.

23 May 2026 00:05:22
Very good points there, Ron.

23 May 2026 04:58:52
F***, how hard can it be to understand?

The people referred to as ITKs on this site have still never actually said they think they are ITK.

More likely is that the people who work at the club or indirectly as people who work with the club (like the press) are the ones more likely to be ITK, although the information they have may be limited unless their surname is Henry or Hogan or Gordon.

The lads on here are passing on information that they have received. The information may be correct when they are given the information, but there is no guarantee that situations won't change, and inaccurate information shared at 9am might not be correct at 2pm as situations change.

The only time you can take information as being 100% accurate is when the club makes a formal announcement that a piece of business has been completed.

The lads are trying to pass on information in good faith. Why can't people accept that? It's a rumours site not a 'God's gospel truth' site.
