Heard a rumour regarding Rodrigo De Paul eds. any truth in this one? I know we were keen before he signed for athletico.

{Ed002's Note - Rodrigo de Paul (CM) Not working out well in Madrid and Atletico have a replacement in mind and will let him leave. Aston Villa have declared an interest but I expect they can be discounted. Milan and Spurs have been watching him and may make offers. Spurs might be the most viable but any new coach may have a view. I am not aware of any approach by Liverpool, but perhaps another option to Bellingham.}

He’s 29 next month. Perfect time to join our retirement home.

MartyMcfly11 - wait a go for losing the context.

De Paul plays a high-energy pressing game. He's 29 next month. What kind of transfer fee, salary and contract length would you like to offer?

I wouldnt, that's not my job my friend. Just pointing out that 29 is not old. Calm yourself down. just asking the eds a question.

We signed Milner at 28 years old and he's given us nearly 400 games.

Age is just a number. Fabinho is 29 and looks finished. Modric is 37 and looks as good as ever.

Personally i would target younger players though as we can't risk ending up with another midfielder in decline.

Maybe run it past Klopp first before posters sign off on the deal?

Would defs do a job for us for a couple of years. Just the type of combative midfielder we need.

I'd be shocked if we went in on anyone over the age of 25 this summer.

Fly Pelican has spoken, so I'm sure Klopp will forget any thoughts he may of had of possibly signing him. Hopefully he runs all possible signings past Pelican lol ?.

Tell me you wouldn't want a 29 year old Modric or De Bruyne or Kante or Messi or Ronaldo.

Marty - I’ll make a deal. If Hendo is moved on, we can have Rodrigo De Paul. How’s that?

Pelican. no deal.

Age isn’t binary. Milner at 37 is light years fitter (and less prone to injury) than, as examples, Keita, Ox or Thiago. I think I may have watched matches that RDP has played in two or three times and I have no idea if he is in the Milner or the Naby category or even somewhere in between. That’s a job for the club to discover and decide, but I don’t think writing someone off because of a number isn’t the best measure.

Milner is not good enough to propel us to challenging for titles is he?
This age doesn't matter thing is BS, as it all depends on the style of play you are asking the team to produce.
It has looked for a while now after buying the youngsters we have our approach is clearly to buy cheap and development. Gordon, Scanlon, Clarke, Harvey, Carvalho, Ramsey, Van de Berg, but the problem we are having is the injuries the squad is having to the mid age players 22 to 30 Diaz, Keita, Ox, Jones, Van Dyke, Konate. Gomez. And then of course the over playing of Fab Thiago TAA Robertson Salah, and the decline of Matip Bobby and Hendo to an extent.
Ed 01 hit it on the head about recruitment a lot of the players bought in the last 5 yrs have spent most of the season trying to get themselves fit. Excuse long time injuries through tackles on big Virgil, Diaz.
We have struggled this season with Continuity. Have we been able to play the same team for more than 3 games in a row?
I am glad that we are not renewing contacts on the likes of Naby Ox Bobby and Matip as it shows we are no longer padding the squad with unreliable players.
I don't mind giving 4 yr contacts to 28 yr olds who can do a job for 2 yrs and then compete with the younger players coming through for their final 2 yrs.
Hendo should be out of the team and playing second fiddle to Keita now, but Naby in hind sight was a bad signing. As Ed 01 says recruitment got it wrong.

Signing players at this end of their careers makes no sense. He’ll be 29 this year and maybe has a couple of good years at best. Doubt he’d be able to keep up with the pace of the premier league tbh.

What has Thiago got to do with RDP - they are two entirely different people.
