Hi Eds,

With it looking likely that Chelsea will sign Ugarte (who I believe PSG were also trying to sign), do you think that will result in PSG stepping up their interest in Thuram / Kone?

Interested in if that would hurt our chances of signing either.

I take it the two for Chelsea are Ugarte and Caicedo? With some hierarchy they’re pushing for kone if it’s still the case.

Are Chelsea planning on selling anybody or are they just going to stockpile the world’s supply of footballers?

Seems they’re heading down a financial creek, but have they got a paddle?

Still seems a mismatch of numbers to me. It’ll be close to a billion spent in the next window or two if they’re not careful - that’s a hell of a lot of amortisation.

@Ed77, that still leaves them with about 54 mids including everybody out on loan.

{Ed077's Note - true, but only really 2 first teamers. And even then is Gallagher going to be a first choice in one of their midfield roles?
Also I did actually forget to mention that Loftus-Cheek is also seemingly on the way out. God they have so many players on their books.

I suspect everything becomes clearer when Caicedo's destination is known. With Rice, Caicedo, Ugarte, Thuram, Kone all likely to move this summer, there's a lot of potential scenarios for defensive mids.

Gregarious - yeah he's capable of playing both DM and box-to-box. More recently for Nice he's been playing as a box-to-box.
