Is it just me or has Rogers at the beginning of the season put his hopes on sturridge been the pin of the attack and been absaloutly rapid up top ? If you think studge, sterling, ballo, Markovic are absaloutly quick as hell and would scare even the quickest of cb never mind the sluggish ones I maybe clutching at straws here but when he's back I think this season just may turn round

I feel it's clutching at straws myself. I do see your point though. With Sturridge up top we'd definitely solve our lack of goals problem. However, we are still a mess without the ball and defending set pieces is just a shambles.

Undoubtedly I feel he was looking to Sturridge to be our focal point this season. Despite his injury record, there's no chance anyone realistically saw him missing half the season. His presence and ability will help us for sure. I think it'll certainly give sterling a bit more life as he may have more space to work in.

I won't sit here and claim he'll change our fortunes because that's a lot of pressure on his shoulders and he will need to gain match fitness. But just maybe he can slowly play a part in creating a bit of hope back around the club.

In order for us to make top 4 would require a minimum of about 70 points. That is 2.28 points per game. Last season we averaged 2.21 points per game with the most deadly strike force in the league.

Sturridge may help us to get more goals but top 4 is nothing but a pipe dream.

Max but it's a completely different season pal we scored over a 100 goals last season and didn't win the league no team battling for top 4 bar city and Chelsea are playing great United are scraping wins by some sort of luck arsenal to be honest are playing poor and spurs ain't much better anything can happen mate

5.) 09 Jan 2015
Nobody knows exactly how the league will pan out, only it will probably be between city and Chelsea for the title then who knows, surely utd's luck will run out, maybe Southampton fall away, and the usual top 4 finish for arsenal?

When we had Suarez and Sturridge, if one was injured or suspended or whatever we still had the other, so for virtually the whole of last season, at least one the two played in every single game and a lot of the time both of them, The problem now is wee only have Sturridge - and when he's not there, such as now, we have nothing. Leaking goals is a problem as well, but we leaked goals last season and got away with it because we scored more. This season we don't score. Sturridge may - if he hits the ground running- keep us in the Europa League placings, but he is not enough to get us in the Champions League placings.

7.) 09 Jan 2015
I think the issue is the defense only we relied on the goals so much last season because our defense was a shambles even chelsea did okay last season considering their striking options because they defend so well so if we learn to defend we can reach top four and get our goals from sterling lallana and Sturridge

8.) 09 Jan 2015
No chance top 4 i'm afraid we're too inconsistent an a very poor defence

Big E, speak for yourself mate. I Could see this season being disaster a mile off.
The Boys an enigma but with his injurys he's a liability. Wouldn't rule him out of another spell on the sidelines after his return, infact I'd put money on it sadly

Fair enough Dbol. As I said we knew/know of his injury record and that he's frail, but despite this I and I suspect many others, didn't expect him to miss such a large proportion as he has. I would have expected 1-2 months in small doses with little knocks. But not such a long term absence!

I just hope he clicks into gear ASAP and does the business whilst he is fit!

11.) 09 Jan 2015
To be fair, if we have players upfront who the opposition are scared of then does that not help our defence?

Same mate, I think he will, he's got great understanding with Coutinho and I can see him scoring from the off.
Would you sign a goal scorer Big E? I would, Balo Lambert Borini and even Origi aren't going to score the goals we lack when Sturridge is out.

13.) 11 Jan 2015
I'd definitely sign another striker, Balo and Lambert don't have the pace or runs of Sturridge, so it changes our style of play when he's out (note how Coutinho came back to life when we put Sterling up top, but we need another killer finisher). Lacazette or Berahino would be my picks from the rumours.
