I think the only player we'll go for in January is a better keeper. Other than that, we have players in every position.,
With a great keeper and decent coaching, we have the defenders. We also have a DM in Can or Lucas.
I think GK is the only position we need to strengthen urgently, buying loads of former players was Rodgers first mistake and it heaps pressure on you.

I can see him taking another look at the DM places Ron don't you think, He loves playing with the 2 midfielders who will constantly break up the play but also ping that pass when needed, For me i don't think Lucas is great anymore, I love the guy but i think injuries has killed what he once was but he may look to kendo milner and can for those roles who knows

I think Can is far from good enough defensively to count him as a CDM. We have Lucas but that's it. Can should be used box to box but has far too many flaws in any other position.

Maybe Henderson could fill next to Lucas or Can? But I would think if he goes with two DMs then there isn't enough depth for 50 games, as Hendersons injury proves (thought this guy was made of steel)

GK. Agree, but Mignolet has improved, he won us a point at Everton if fairness and many games he has made great saves. Yes he makes mistakes, but then there is this great coaching we're now talking about. Add an improved defence, again due to coaching and distribution. Migs is no problems with throwing, Rodgers wanted a sweeper keeper which he ain't. Now to Jan will be make or break, but with these improvements Migs isn't a bad keeper.

Left back. Said all summer we need cover for Moreno, yes surprise package Gomez played there, but we all know that's not where he should be. Again it's the 50 games on one player, no happening.

Otherwise we have a massive squad and cover in all areas which if not good enough must be sold on before replaced. LB is our weakest area, if it wasn't Sterling, Ibe, Markovic and Ings wouldn't have been played out there. I trust Moreno can and will be a great LB or LWB but can't play every game. Gomez need to play CB.

{Ed001's Note - when has Mignolet ever made a great save, rather than a good save look great by his awful footwork needing him to sprawl full length to stop a pass that would have hit his foot if he wasn't so desperate to get it out of the way?}

Re better keeper, in the derby Ming was our MOM and saved at least 2-3 goals. Had nothing to do against the goal we conceded. I wouldn't mind brining a world class keeper but I think we have other priorities.

{Ed001's Note - sorry but the keeper is the major issue and has been since day one of Rodgers' reign and we are still in the same position. Mignolet is terrible, not one Premier League level keeper would have let in any of those shots. He made one good save, but still one that any Prem keeper would be expected to make. He still flaps at crosses, he still can't kick the ball, he still tries to get down to use his hands against balls kicked at his feet and he still can't catch.}

Has any first team keeper ever been sold in January Ron? Genuine question I can't think of 1.I think it would be suicidal for a team to do that,and they'd definitely charge a big sum.It's a first team keeper we need. who do you think will be available in Jan?

{Ed023's Note - Igor Akinfeev? CSKA keeper? Russia will be in their off season so that might be possible? I'd prefer Bernd Leno though.

I only watched Akinfeev in international ed.He pretty much had a meltdown at wc14 and was awful. I've not been impressed when I watch friendlies/qualifiers either.Have I just watched him in matches where he's been off form?

Ah ok ed23. He might be much better at club level,but I think for the time being,we'd be better placed just waiting till summer personally.
I hope he doesn't bring weidenfeller (if he comes) I'm not a big fan when I've watched him+he's 35. I guess we will see. Leno wouldn't be bad,would you take Ter Stegen? I don't think Barcelona are too impressed with Stegen or they weren't last year. Zieler has had a few good seasons for Hannover.

Jesus,Germany have a wealth of keepers,sadly it looks like neur has that position locked up
