Nice to see the posts tonight and some very contrasting opinions.

This is the way I look at it though:

This was a cup game and like we see year in year out differences between league positions go out of the window, these lower teams play the game of there lives.

Exeter play as a unit week in week out so are all very familiar with each other.

Klopp has just thrown this squad together tonight with some of them not even knowing each other's names.

I though the kids played well tonight under the circumstances so credit to them and credit to Exeter.

Also I hope he playa the same squad in the replay.

I thought Exeter looked nothing more than a league 2 team, no disrespect to them or to league 2 (and yes, league 2 teams also score some good goals sometimes) . You could see the basic differences even with the side we had today, in term of controlling the ball from strong passes, closing down players, possesion etc.

But our youngsters are not good enough to creat chances and beat them. Yes the fact that our team didn't play together before today didn't help but it was Klopp's decision to play this starting 11. He could have included 3-4 more senior players and the differen in quality would have shown in the result. I don't know if he thinks we are are already in too many competitions or that he thinks somewhat arrogantly that any LFC player even if he was loaned to poor team which still didn't play him, must be of a such a high quality that he will always beat a team like Exeter. The reward is another midweek game.

How could you even think Klopp showed arrogance in his team selection? Two bigger games coming up and more than half the first team injured. He gave valuable experience to the young players and they responded. A replay is a good result. And maybe when more First teamers are healthy he will play them alongside the younger players. It also amazes me that a lot of you call for the kids one minute then complain that they played in a cup match.

Fanobip and if any of those 3-4 senior players were injured what would we have done for Arsenal and United? Honestly I'm glad Klopp had the balls to do it, no other senior players were injured and we didn't lose.

There were a couple of good performers who could now push for a place in the first team squad. Yes he COULD have put a few extra senior players in there but honestly how often have we seen a "hybrid" team go out because they've literally never played together? At least these lads have played with each other in the youth system and you could see that at times (- Benteke) .

Honestly I'm happy. (Although that replay really is a ballache) .

Fano, which senior players should he have played with TWELVE of them being out injured and NO CB's? And what would you have said if those 3-4 players got hurt? You'll be on here mouthing off as to why Klopp even bothered playing them which is why Klopp is the manager and those who think like you aren't. people want youth given a chance then bitch when they go out and play.

Make up your minds, already. Our senior players would have had EIGHT days of rest since the last game which allows us to recharge our batteries and train normally but clearly that's not good enuff for you. Well, Klopp got it right. We're not out of the Cup to the chagrin of the haters or cynics out there (not you, Fano. I mean the media) so we all move on.

Fanobip did you see the pitch we were playing on today? Risking first team players who have been training at a high risk level of training on a pitch of that state would likely see them injured. I'm pleased that Klopp had the sense to give youth a chance while allowing our crucial first team players to recover for a big game. There's no arrogance in his decision to field that starting XI today.

I agree with Fanobip. Skrtl and Lovren should have played instead of Ilori and Enrique. Henderson instead of Stewert, Coutinho instead of Texiera, Ibe instead of Kent, and Sturridge instead of Sinclair. Oh wait, those players were injured.
