Seems to me Buvac wanted to keep a better stronger team in the league instead of so many changes

And if this is the case I think he was right now were under pressure for 4th and might not be able to rest any players

Where as if we just played our team beat WB and Stoke we could relax now and focus on the CL alone


Maybe I'm miles out.

Give me the CL over 4th every time.

I thought like you in 2005, I was disgusted Rafa threw our last few league games away in favour of the champions league. I was appalled we finished below Everton.

Then we won in Istanbul and I realised how foolish I looked.

Agree. CL is this seasons only remaining chanse to win a trophy. A PL 4th place isnt.

One could say that the restrains and all the serious injurys in our squad has gotten to our managment. That tells something about the pressure they live in.

To be fair Ron there wouldn’t be a fan on the planet who would chose 4th place over the CL, but it doesn’t have to be mutually exclusive. You reference 2005, but see 2016, outside top for and a lost UEFA final. We need to get top 4, in fact I think it would enhance our CL hopes if we make the final as, odd as it may sound, it would take some of the pressure off that game of it were just a trophy ( unknown, I know, that sounds ridiculous) but we must be in the CL again next season, it’s essential in my opinion for everything Klopp is trying to build. I really don’t think we should be putting all our eggs in 1 basket. It’s a shame that some of the stupid results we’ve had this season have left us in this situation, we should have been done and dusted with top 4 about 3 games ago.

Dezy and why would we do that if indeed that is what Buvac was on about which I doubt? We are at the very bare bones right now and yet people still moaning about why we did not play our best team in the last two games. Let's get over this, please. Klopp has reached the final of both European competitions in the past 5 years. Only Simeone has matched that. You think Klopp does not have the desire to win the CL and reach top 4? What is wrong with playing both competitions at the same time?

The fact is that Klopp plays games on a game by game basis cos he does not take games off and even when he makes changes, he expects them to win so this is not an either/ or issue. Klopp is playing for keeps here and God bless him. The Buvac thing is to me, just a distraction and we need to move on.

A draw or win a chelsea guarentees 4th come on it is still in our hands alright some if we did this or that different's 4th would already be in the bag but its not but 6 point gap and they still have 3 games left they have to win them all we only need one win or a draw at chelsea will do us.

Firstly you don't know why they had a falling out, you are just guessing. All we know from the Ed is that it was over player selection, you don't know what Buvac was advocating, maybe he wanted more kids played in the league.

Secondly, why do we now need to rest players? If we qualify the Champions League final is 2 weeks after our final league game.

Thirdly, we need 3 points from 2 games to get champions league next season, if we can't do that we don't deserve qualify.

Even if you are right who is to say Buvac's way would have been the right way. We could have played our full team against Everton and then lost to City, or we could have played our full team against WBA and not beaten Roma. Would you have been happier if we had sown up top 4 but were out of the champions league?

Great post, Smeg. Klopp is playing both competitions at full go and we have gotten ourselves into a position where even REGARDLESS of what other teams do, top 4 is still in our hands. That is what should be applauded here BUT NO, all we hear is people just making suppositions and using hindsight and all which makes NO difference to the reality on the ground.

Would people swap places with Chelsea, who know that they can win all their games and still come 5th? Didn't think so. Be happy with what you have, please. Sure, I would have liked top 4 sewn up right now BUT hey, you take the world the way it is, not as you would like it to be. Like I said, this is not an either/ or scenario. We are in two competitions and currently control our destiny in both. That is a fact and it needs to be reiterated endlessly.
