Firmino new contract?
Sensible move imo.

In what way? Man utd had a policy of over 30s only recieving one year contracts. Injury prone and over the hill as half of not more of the squad is. More blind loyalty from klopp.

I disagree. He missed 26 games last season and has already missed 13 this season. He is 32 years old in October so i don't see that getting much better. I love Bobby. A Liverpool legend possibly, but we shouldn't be clinging to what he once was.

I think some players are worth more than just their on pitch contributions.

Surely as we are trying to rebuild the front line it makes sense to keep some of the old guard around to help the new kids learn during the transition?

I think all the players whose contracts are expiring this summer should be allowed to leave.

We need to move players off our wage bill who are not contributing enough to allow us funds to replenish the squad.

Bobby has been a fantastic player and I love him to bits but injuries have caught up with him and he should be allowed to move on at the end of his contract.

Agree fully Navy Keith.

Adrian, Ox, Keita, Milner and Firmino should all be let go. I'd also look to move on Kelleher, Phillips, Matip and Fabinho too. Lastly and most controversially I think i'd let Salah go.

07 Feb 2023 15:56:37
We probably need 3 or 4 in midfield 2 centre backs and a backup keeper if Kelleher goes. Up front Darwin/ Gakpo the jury’s still out and we could cash in on Mo potentially so there could be changes there. A LOT of uncertainty and we could see a lot of needed changes a 1 year deal maybe would be ok just to keep a bit of familiarity.

MK you are advocating destroying the very essence of the team that took us so far?
If Salah wants to go and we get a good offer I’d certainly not stand in his way but to get rid of him, Fabs and Firmino at the same time to me is crazy.

We need these players to help the new players get to the levels needed and expected. If you’re a young player signing for Liverpool I think selling Firmino, Fabinho and Salah sends completely the wrong message.

They haven’t performed well this season but these are players that have been integral parts of a team that’s won everything there is to win. We should not be so quick to get rid of them in my opinion.

Can’t argue with the rest of them MK, but do you not think there’s any chance that Salah recaptures some form? I’m trying to convince myself that he will, but hasn’t been good for over a year now. The thing that winds me up the most is how predictable he is, the painfully slow cut inside and shoot that never works is driving me crazy.

There seems to be no thought put into his decision making anymore. It’s not just typical striker selfishness, it’s just stupidity. At his best, he is anything but predictable. You never know what he is going to do next. This is what makes me think he could just be inside his own head and needs the right encouragement, but maybe I’m just being too optimistic.

Becker's pecker. Firmino is nowhere near the 17-19 firmino we once had and the only way from here is downhill. We need fresh and hungry blood.

As for learning from the old guard Salah bobby and mane did ok without Lambert and balotelli hanging around.

I absolutely think Salah will recapture form AW, but we need to rebuild the team and he's a 30 year old player who'd probably fetch £60m plus. It's the best time to sell him.

Beckers, i think a young player is more likely to give us a wide berth if we sleep walk into a mid table team by holding on to players for sentimental reasons or because "they're good for morale". It's not really tearing up the team for me. We'd still have Ali, Trent, Ramsay, Konate, Gomez, Virgil, Robbo, Tsimikas, Hendo, Thiago, Baj, Jones, Elliott, Carvalho, Jota, Diaz, Gakpo, Doak and Nunez. That's 19 players. And all it's really missing is 1 keeper, 1 centre back, 2 midfielders and 1 forward (5 players short of a good squad) . We can replace 9 players with just 5 because of the sheer volume of players we have currently not good/ fit enough.

It's immaterial what i would do though. I fully suspect Milner and Bobby will get new contracts. Probably Adrian too.

“A Liverpool legend possibly, ”

Come on MK, that’s not even up for debate.

Also, unless the lad asks to leave letting kelleher go is madness of the highest order.

15.) 07 Feb 2023
07 Feb 2023 18:32:54
why are people so against giving bobby an extension? it's not coincidence our best period this season and was when he was playing. he's also our leading goal scorer and currently nobody in the squad can do his job, until there's a replacement who does what he does equally YT or better he should stay.

16.) 07 Feb 2023
07 Feb 2023 18:41:07
Good guy to have around the team. Mo likely / hopefully being sold in summer so a good idea to keep Bobby around to support the new attackers.

17.) 07 Feb 2023
07 Feb 2023 19:31:03
I'd have got rid of him years ago. He's not good enough unless he's going to fill the good egg roll.

18.) 07 Feb 2023
07 Feb 2023 19:32:30
Wassa, i really rate Kelleher. So much so that i wouldn't even stress if Alisson left. But we need money for 3 or 4 new starters in my opinion and we're not getting that by losing Keita on a free and selling Nat Phillips to Bournemouth for £10m.

19.) 07 Feb 2023
07 Feb 2023 22:47:37
Who’s paying £60m for Salah? ?.

20.) 08 Feb 2023
08 Feb 2023 00:14:35
MK with respect I think you are letting our current rut cloud your judgement. Before we start making rash decisions on letting proven performers leave we need to get everyone fit and see if their current poor form is due to them ‘losing it’ or if they will pick up once we get our full team on the pitch.

I’m reserving judgement until we can get Diaz, Jota, Konate, VVD, Bobby back in the match day squad and then we will see what we actually need.

21.) 08 Feb 2023
08 Feb 2023 01:41:37
I can't see anyone paying that much for Salah actually. He is on a huge contract so he would most likely see it out with us before leaving on a free. I can't see anyone willing to match his salary + pay us £60m. The usual suspects (PSG, Madrid) have most likely moved on from him and are looking at younger, potentially better players.

And I don't see the point in us worrying in who to sell to raise funds for transfers. That's the manager's and his team's job. We are not even aware of how much is available for transfers. It's all speculation at this point. But the club has shown multiple times that if the manager wants a player, they will do all they can to sign him.

22.) 08 Feb 2023

Disagree MK. Nunez and Gakpo have shown that new signings take time to adapt. The forwardline also have Diaz and Fabio who are new. Firmino is an option who will be happy to not be a guaranteed starter. He's past his peak but in 25 man squad on lower wages, makes sense to me. Same with Milner if he's happy to be player/ coach with much reduced wages.
