By the way, to all the clowns who asked me if I needed a hug, and said I was being pessimistic and we would never sign a decent player ever again on Friday gone, ponder this!
One, I never once said we won’t sign a decent player ever again, I merely stated we won’t sign any of the superstars that you lot keep harping on about on this forum, it’s just not happening. FSG have a way, it’s not going to change, they will spend but it will be on players who they know can develop and increase in value, Bellingham at £120m is not that player.
As for the offer of a hug from one poster, I will give it a miss kid, I save my hugs for when we score at the game, so if your lucky enough to stand close to me at the match, you might just get a Hughesy Hug one day, people don’t forget them ?.

{Ed025's Note - come here hughesy...gimme some sugar.. :)

How different is Bellingham at £120m aged 19 to VVD at £75m aged 25/ 26 or Darwin aged 22 at £86m?

If you’re going to make a song and dance about it, at least make your point a decent one!

I think we will get Bellingham, I think it will get done. As regards our other signings I agree with u that it will be 'lesser known' players who come in. How many I suppose will depend on how much we sell. I can see us selling 1 of Allison, trent or salah as they would be players who could command a big fee. maybe jota if Newcastle rumours true. I think to get back challenging at top of table our transfer window would need to be likes of :Bellingham, rice+ gvardiol. I know there is zero chance of that happening but we need players of that ilk to go straight into team.

@shughes, you didn’t mention ‘superstars’ the other day. If you want to change your opinion that’s alright though.

I’d be very interested to know what Bellinghams current thoughts are on the Liverpool side and performances this season.

This time last year I would have thought (disregard Money) we would have been one of the top choices for any top footballer in world football to want to play for.

Currently and for quite a while they’ve been a hard watch for die hard fans and the Joyriders let alone potential targets.

If Jude’s ambitions are a big project to get a top team back on track where major investment is needed from owners who have publicly stated they need investment then we are that team.

But if Jude’s ambition is to win trophies regularly then Real and City are a country mile ahead of us in that Queue.

I will eat my wooly hat if we sign Bellingham in the summer, the club have already offered their excuses despite the open but secret courting of the lad for a year only to be shocked by the unexpected but widely known ball park cost to get it done.

I expect maybe two 40-50m midfielders plus some defensive freebies and a fire sale of what little value remains in the squad to try and balance the books.

Trent’s assist record is dependent upon us (i) having some possession in the opposition’s half and (ii) our forwards taking their chances. So I wouldn’t read too much into that.

The fact is the tactics and physical limitations of the squad mean that our games resemble basketball games and while that’s true we will be attacked on at will. This fact has not changed since the first day of the season.

Can Bellingham be counted as a superstar at the moment. I would say the only Liverpool player to be a true superstar was Kevin Keegan and he fell off his bike.
