One more thing from last night, I know a captains job is to be the manager on the pitch but I’m getting sick of Henderson absolutely kicking off whenever a player misplaces a pass etc when he himself has been absolutely awful this season. The way he absolutely tore into Allison yesterday for a bit of miscommunication with matip didn’t sit right with me when Alisson is one of the only players who is going to come out of this season with any credit.

I agree, this is the issue. The captain doesn't necessarily have to be the best player, it's not the same as being the best leader.

However, he does need to be a very good player and he does need to be good enough to start every game on merit. At a club chasing titles that means he needs to be not far off world class. Henderson aimlessly hoofing the ball over the pitch and leaving big holes in midfield when he drifts out to the wing for no reason - then shouting at everyone else looks absolutely ridiculous at times. Surely some of the senior players will be thinking the same as well.

Henderson shouldn’t be starting games but then he is constantly starting. A lot of people think shouting and screaming is the best attribute for a leader. It’s such a joke!

What are your thought on Henderson this season Ed1? Personally been very dissapointing with him. Seen a lot of misplaced pass from him. Also been very afraid to go into 50-50 challenges. Got a feeling we are going to regret the long term contract the club gave him. But that just me.

{Ed001's Note - like everyone else, he is struggling with the tactics and the way he is being asked to play.}

He’s doing one good thing on the pitch and that’s trying to motivate the players and be a captain and you want to take that away?
I’m sure he’s as aware as anyone how bad he’s playing this year but that doesn’t mean he should allow even more mistakes to creep into others games.

He did seem to back down and spoke to Matip when Alisson challenged him.

It's setting in through the team and is typical of a team that is struggling and, dare I say, starting to fall apart a little. The frustration at having fallen so far in such a short space of time is evident.

As well as Henderson going for Alisson last night, despite the fact that Henderson was having another stinker and Alisson has been arguably our best player this season, I am also sick of the camera cutting to van Dijk as he stands there, arms out wide, shouting at everybody else whilst regularly being out of position or losing his man.

And on Saturday against City, Trent went on a solo pressing run for about 20 seconds, chasing from full-back to centre-back to keeper as they passed the ball around. Then he just stood in the City penalty area, arms spread wide screaming at everyone else. Another player who is playing pretty poorly himself but puts in 20 seconds of (fruitless) effort and passion and suddenly feels he can start bawling out his team mates.

Even Salah looks like losing his temper a bit, which has almost never happened.

I’ve not seen Hendo that angry since there was talk about footballers taking a pay cut during the C.V..

{Ed001's Note - and yet he was one of the first to accept it was needed and to get all the captains together to do more.}

1985mikey there is a big difference between motivating teammates and blaming everyone else for your own incompetence. That was the big difference between Gerrard and Carragher as well, and why Carragher ended up coming to blows with Arbeloa and Xabi.

There was a moment in the first half yesterday where Henderson was caught offside despite being out wide near the halfway line and and looking across the whole line. He had no excuse for being offside, but he still blamed the lad who passed him the ball.

Ed, another thing that worries me is how can senior players like Hendo and Milner not speak up about the continued crap tactics? This makes no sense to me.

I had envisaged that Milly and Hendo would have raised this with the boss when we got to the World Cup break and we'd go back to basics. Maybe they did, but nothing changed.

In my mind, I cannot believe Milly and Hendo would obediently continue without speaking up.

{Ed001's Note - i would have thought so too. But nothing has changed.}

@1985mikey there is a big difference between motivating the players and screaming in their face and shoving him, which is what Henderson did to Alisson last night! This is why a captain should not just start because he’s captain, it gives him the authority on the pitch when his performance levels are just as low if not lower than the players he is screaming at.

I think it's unfair and scapegoating to criticise Henderson for that sort of thing. The whole team looks like they hate each other at the moment. They have no faith in each other or in the tactics they are being asked to implement. It is natural that they are going to be petty, irritable and irrational.

I find it hard to criticise any one player for being a moody so and so when it should be the manager getting a grip of the situation. Even if van Dijk or Trent look lazy at times, the manager should be either dropping them or disciplining them. It is hard for them to be 100% switched on when they step onto the pitch knowing that what they're being asked to do is ridiculous and leaves them exposed.

You can see it pour out whenever we go a goal down, which we inevitably do because our approach is so stupid. As a team, as a machine, as an organised unit, we are by far the worst in the league. We get by on the talent of individuals, making the best of ideas that even someone who doesn't even watch football could tell are illogical.

It's at that point our players really seem to turn sour, and we can all sit here and say it isn't acceptable, but they're not robots. They're human beings with brains that have emotion, irrationality and ancient evolutionary mechanisms that need to be managed, which is usually what the manager is supposed to handle, as the name implies.

Don't blame Henderson, van Dijk, Trent or anybody else for the shortcomings of the manager. The decisions, and their subsequent effects, are made by nobody other than him.

I get what your saying JK red but am actually ok with a captain handing out an arse kicking in a game as long as it’s deserved.

Question Ed1, how long is "too long" for Klopp to turn this around for you? I think most here agree with you that Klopp deserve every chance to turn this around.

But if this continue on without any kind of improvement on tactical and results etc, one has to wonder how long do we have to be patient.

{Ed001's Note - I think he has to make changes in the summer that make a difference or questions need to be asked.}

Henderson wasn’t playing well when everyone else was either though he’s been poor since we won the title. Everyone was wanting a midfielder 2 years ago to play with Fabinho and Thiago with Henderson down the pecking order. We still need that player but we need to replace Fabinho now too and have Milner Keita and Ox all moving on who you’d probably replace with 2 AND have Thiago into his last season who we’ll need to replace in 12 months. And that’s just the midfield! horrible planning.

I’m made up hendo was shouting at players yesterday. Should of been doing it all season . We’ve missed someone in that roll. It’s not embarrassing at all, players putting there hands up in The air as if to blame others is embarrassing if I was in that team and that was happening we would be scrapping in the changies after the game. For me that’s the worst thing you can do vvd and Trent been doing it all season boils my p*ss.

To be fair to Henderson he spoke to Allison after the final whistle and both seemed to have made up quickly. I think as captain Henderson is a very balanced person, if he is in the wrong he will admit to it and not hide behind the armband. i don't think I would rather have anyone else in the current squad as captain over him.
